  1. Hello, I have a 2006 Legacy 2.5i Limited. The code that it is giving is a P171 The car has NEW Subaru Parts: Ignition Coil, Subaru Ignition Wires, Spark Plugs, EGR Valve, All new Hoses (vacuum and cooling) New PVC Valve and Hose. All NEW Subaru Timing Parts, (Belt, All Timing Belt Pulleys, Bearing, Belt, Belt Tensioner etc.) New Subaru Fuel Injectors, Injector Seals/O-Rings I run higher octane gas. 92-93 Thoughts?
  2. Hello, I don't know the history before I got the car. at 98k. I'm wanting to change my transmission fluid. I have had the car for 80k, and I think it's time I do it. The fluid color is light reddish color that is starting to change. I was wondering, can I take the Transmission Pan off without any issues? The Pan in NOT leaking, I just want to see whats in the pan, and clean any thing that's in it. I was told by a Subaru Master Tech that I should NOT change the External Round Filter on it, because that can cause issue, and then I would have to take it to Subaru to do a Relearn Procedure. Thanks fort any help, it is much appreciated. Mike
  3. Homedepotmade, Nice write up/details. Thank you very much for your detailed response.
  4. The A/C Compressor Bearing is going bad. When I took the belt of and spun the compressor with all power off, it's NOT smooth and you can feel/hear it. The Compressor still make cold air. Seems to torn on/off as needed. I'm not sure if the A/C compressor pump has sent any damage particles though the lines and in to the condenser. Questions: 1. Is there a way to tell if the compressor has started to send damaged parts/shavings etc into the lines and condenser? 2. If yes, what is it?
  5. It looks like they did not properly use a micrometer to see inside ID of head to make sure it was correct with the OD of the Valve Guide. Heads are trash now. You can find used at some bone yards
  6. Hello, I have 2006 Subaru Legacy 2.5i with a broken Strut Mount Broken Stud. Can you still drive this without major worry? I do have new one on order. If these don't look exactly like yours it is because the car has Spec-B Bilstein Shocks on it. See image Thanks for any help
  7. A full 100% battery gives better power to the car. Jumping from one car to another is not as strong. Also, you said it's been sitting for a few months. Gasoline can go stale over time. it also can get moisture in it. You have the key fob, make sure the alarm etc is turned off.
  8. Pads are subjective. What kind of driver are you? Do you drive fast, then wait to the last minute to stop? Or are you a average driver, with gradual stops? What area of the country are you in? Weather is a factor in your choice. Look here: https://www.tirerack.com/content/tirerack/desktop/en/parts_accessories/brakes.html
  9. Don't try to jump it. Take the battery out and put it on a Battery Charger on Trickle Charge aka slow charge mode. Or buy a new battery (make sure it has a full charge on it.) have them test it before for charge status before you take it out the door many of the batteries that Auto Zone, O'Reilly have not a full charge because of transport/storage times.
  10. Some of the items in a Gates Kit are China Junk. Go to Subaru and get real Japanese Made items pulleys, etc. (Subaru) Yo may think you are saving money, but when some junk cheap pulley, idler, tensioner fails and your engine is damage (Bent Valves etc) what money did you save? NONE. The same goes for thermostats, belts, oxygen sensors. If you buy enough parts from your local Subaru dealer and you get to know them, they will start to give you better discounts, I know because it happened to me.
  11. Hello, Car Info: 2006 Legacy 2.5i Limited Sedan. 163k Blowing the "Tail Clearance Fuse" in the driver side lower fuse panel. The 15 AMP blows every time I use the Combination Switch or Hazard Rocker switch on top of the steering column. (These two Parts are linked to the "Tail Relay" in the main fuse box). I have check the rear Tail lights, no shorts in the wiring there. No shorts in the Licence Plate Lights either. I then disconnected those from the rear wiring harness from the wires, and it still blows the "Tail Clearance Fuse". Do the Combination Switch or Hazard Rocker have a history of being/going bad?
  12. Thanks for the info. That is what I thought too. With 151k, and this car was originally from Maryland (winter car) it's probably worn out.
