BoyceWare
I get quite a few random PMs on my various Nexus 7 tablet installs. I’ll be updating this post to include a well-documented easy to follow DIY install guide. Most other tablet install guides I've seen are overly complicated or are skimpy on details, however this guide will simplify the process a bit for those less technically capable . Please note that this guide is currently incomplete. I will be working to populate all areas as time allows. BoyceWare
Parts List Nexus 7 Tablet (2013 or 2012 Models) 2013 Wi-Fi 2nd Gen TabletAcceptable Price Range: $120-$160 for a used 32GB model on eBayNotes: The 2013 (2nd Gen) Nexus 7 has a higher resolution and faster processor. It will also allow you to run the latest paid version of Timur’s rom. Recommend. 2012 Wi-Fi 1st Gen TabletAcceptable Price: $40-$70 for a used 32GB model on ebayNotes: The 2012 (1st Gen) Nexus 7 is slower and has a lower resolution screen. This tablet also runs an older version of Timur’s rom which is now unsupported and will require digging through web forums to locate an old download link when it was listed as freeware. Great for a cheap budget setup 1x OTG Cable ($8.47) Link: https://www.amazon.com/Micro-Female-Cable-Power-Splitter/dp/B00NSBVNCM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482101447&sr=8-1&keywords=Micro%20USB%20Male%20To%20USB%20Female%20Host%20OTG%20Cable%20+%20Splitter&tag=viglink20901-20Notes: Don’t try and save $5 by buying the $3 cable that has a micro USB end for the charger. I’ve tried similar cables and they do not allow the tablet to fast charge. 2x USB Extension Cables ($6.99 x 2 = $13.98) Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019DZG9DYNotes: You will need to buy 2 of these USB Car Charger ($7.49) Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00P060MRK USB DAC ($6.90) Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001MSS6CSNotes: This devices keeps you from running an analog audio cable from the tablet back to your AUX port in your arm rest. Also has a mic port if you would like to use voice controls. This is only used if you are using factory AUX or an aftermarket AUX adapter. Optional: Powered USB Hub ($9.99 + $7.99 = $17.98) USB Hub Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MHIVYZ8Micro USB Cable Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00UFG5GVMNotes: Needed if you will be using multiple USB devices (USB DAC, USB Drive, Tactrix, etc..) Optional: GROM SUB08B3 Bluetooth for 07-09 Legacy Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/121800235953Notes: To use this Bluetooth adapter you will need a P-204UH head unit that includes both AUX and Satellite buttons. Finding a used one of these is ideal if you do not currently have an AUX in port Optional: USB Powered Bluetooth FM Transmitter Link: https://www.amazon.com/Lumsing-Bluetooth-Hands-Free-Transmitter-Microphone/dp/B016KIT2V8Note: I’ve never tested this product, I’ve only listed it as it is powered off USB and has half decent reviews. If you have a 05-06 legacy and do not want to buy a P-204UH or you do not want solder any of the aftermarket AUX adapters into your existing head unit, an easy option would be a Bluetooth or AUX USB FM Transmitter. battelready
Great idea dude. I had no idea where i was headed when i started out. http://i.imgur.com/Zzrejfg.jpg Heres mine. Simpler install with the tablet sending sound over bluetooth to a dongle attached to my aux input. But the wired provides higher sound fidelity. coop3422
Might be a stupid question, but what is the benefit of this install? Does it play the music in the car? Is it used for nav? It's a cool idea, just wondering what people use it for. I wish our cars had a USB for playing music so I could see this solving that issue, although probably a fair bit of work to do so. I also wish my car had factory bluetooth

BoyceWare
Yup, this one is the jdm nav bezel, however my first install was a modified oem cubby. Sorry folks things have been crazy busy. I am going to try and get the cubby mod portion updated soon!

N.Y.X.
This one looks a little different. Oh cause it's a single din conversion. http://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/s508872418 So this is what I need, minus the nav screen? http://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/e203849145 Edited November 29, 2016 by N.Y.X.
