pdxstromvig
Hello guys. I have been trying to figure out to get an aftermarket stereo (one that plays through bluetooth) into my 2006 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT Limited Wagon. I recently found a video that was done on a 2006 Subaru Outback. I was just wondering if anyone on here knows someone who would potentially be able to do this to my car?? Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
coldsoda
you didnt say where you live, and you're looking for a local shop to do the install? silver_legacy
I just recently replaced my factory head unit (the harman kardon stereo) with a Pioneer FH-X830BHS CD Receiver for $180, and the faceplate and wiring harness was only another 20 bucks. I did it myself in about 3 hours in my garage. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130X830BHS/Pioneer-FH-X830BHS-CD-Receiver.html There are some tricks, especially if you have the manual climate controls, but the master sheet instructions that Crutchfield sends you, as well as their tech support are fantastic. Diesel_Jeremiah
http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=256158 That's what a local shop in Bremerton, Wa did for me. It really depends on how in depth you want to go... Sent from my One M8 using Tapatalk Evolution of a Dream
Stevh0
I did my own. If you've worked on stereos before, it's very simple.
jsmythe
I am doing this project as we speak. You need a reverse harness, assuming you have the auto HVAC unit with single pieces audio/hvac. This is because the HVAC needs to draw power from the same harness. You will couple the old plug with an adapter harness to your new radio and also supply power to the old system via the reverse harness. There's a member here SVXdc has everything you will need. Stevh0
That can work yes, although you can also just tap into the power, earth and ignition wires of the OEM stereo. Mine still works, though there is obviously no sound as my speakers are all amplified.
faralcane
I've started installing a new stereo in my 05 LGT following the thread here: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/official-dual-hvac-double-din-jdm-kit-thread-113589.html Here's where I'm at. After getting the harnesses at ae64.com (run by member SVXdc here) and soldering them appropriately/heatshrinking them, it's really a fast install. Only took like 5 minutes to get the trim pulled and the old radio out, then a few more minutes when I had to plug it back in to eject the 5 cds that were still in it http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=2506&pictureid=11496
mzsinko84
I found out how to install and aftermarket radio in my 2006 Legacy GT Limited after I had already removed my stereo and Subaru had to get my heater, front windshield and the rear window defogger, the A/C and the clock working again. Then I found out about http://www.avojdm.com to get what’s needed for aftermarket stereo installation for my car, I ordered what was needed and now I have the radio separated from the ac/heater but I still have the ac and the heater and I love it. Tehnation
u have 3 options. You can change your radio, but you need the jdm part which will swap your climate control with defroster, i'm not sure if it actually swaps the sides of the climate control. The jdm is made for right hand drive cars, so everything is reverse. This is the only option for replacing the stock radio with aftermarket single or double din. You can also go to the junkyard or ebay and get a later radio, 07 or later, with the aux function and wire it up with the i88 adapter which will give you a direct input into the radio and then you can connect whatever bluetooth device that works with your application or you can get a parrot system, not sure exactly how it works but it does exactly what your wanting on the stock 05-06 radio. mzsinko84
I wanted to switch radios in my 06 Legacy GT, I was searching and searching under google and I came across a link that led me to http://www.avojdm.com and I ordered the radio frame, I damaged that car now I have an 05 Legacy GT but I was able to keep the radio and a few other parts that I ordered for the car and the parts that I kept are all backwards compatible, a Cobb v3 access port, a Cobb Boost Control Module (BCM), the exhaust, and the intake, the intake tube needs to be trimmed down. I have a working aftermarket radio with ac and heater in my Legacy GT now.
