brandon.mol
I'm wondering if there are any differences in the windshields for the 5th gens between 2012 and 2014, and in particular on the eyesight equipped 3.6R models. Specifically, I'm wondering if they are dimensionally the same as one another and whether the eyesight one lacks those black dots around the mirror. I want to get tint across the top of my next windshield and those dots were an issue in the past. Possibly I can get them off with a razor blade. The tinting guys couldn't/wouldn't tint it with those dots there. Anyone know? If not I'll just lurk around the Subaru dealer lot until I get my answer. Captain Ned
FWIW, I just replaced the windshield on the '16 FXT through Safelite and there were 3 versions. Non-heated, heated, and heated with EyeSight. All 3 have the dots.
GTEASER
I am just going to put black vinyl at the top of my windshield, rather than tint which gets those little bubbles around the black dots. brandon.mol
Do you guys think they could be removed with a razor blade?

brandon.mol
Yeah.. fair enough. I guess it wouldn't hurt one bit. Just bored/helpless sitting in an airport. I'll check it out when I get home.
brandon.mol
Update on this. No way in hell are those black dots coming off with a blade. It'll require abrasives for sure, so that's not happening. The best options I guess are to leave it alone or to fill the gaps between the dots with something. YeuEmMaiMai
on the aftermarket windshield they put in my car the dots were actually on the laminate between the glass so.... not an issue for me. On the plus side I did get the blue tint strip across the top
