235/45/18 on Stock 18" GT Rims

Recommended Posts

Hey guys is anyone running / have pics of 235/45/18 tires on the stock 18x7.5 GT rims? Im trying to get a little more meat on the tire but I just want to see how it looks before I order tires. The 225/45 look a little small. Im not worried about body roll issues when putting a 235/45 tire on.

235/45/18 should fit fine on a 7.5" wide wheel. It's on the narrow end of the tire specs, but still within spec.

Yeah ive seen plenty of 7.5" rims with 235/45 tires by just google imaging, but I've yet to see the stock 18" GT rim with one. Certain rims look weird with larger tires. Not sure if this rim is one of those or not.

Are you looking for more tire width or sidewall height? A 225 tire on the stock rims is already pretty square fitment-wise. If you want a taller tire, think about going with 225/50 instead. That's what I ran for my winter tires on the OEM GT rims.

Id like a slightly taller sidewall. Especially to fill the well gap a bit. The 225/50 looks too thick IMO. But i could be persuaded if there were photos of them on the GT wheels if you have them. As I've only seen 225/50 on other 18x7.5 rims.

Here's 225/50 on the OEM wheel.

Rides much better than 225/45 and I wanted the extra sidewall as these are my winter tires. They are now on 18x8 Konigs.

Awesome thanks a lot! They don't look bad at all. Hope to find a pic of the 235/45 as well just to see, but if not this is doable.

jhelmuth87 you are looking for about the exact thing I'm looking for. I want a slight drop .8"-1.3" and a wider contact patch. I feel like these LGT's look good stock, but the wheel wells need something meatier.

My issue right now is money. I'm about to spring on either the Bilsteins with RCE Blacks or H&R's, but GTeaser is wearing me down to go with Koni's and H&R's.

So I'm trying to merge practicality, performance, and cost all into one logical choice. I'd love to move to after market wheels, but the money isn't there right now. Maybe an RSB though.

I think for your situation you might consider getting a good set of tires to help with handling, then maybe spacers to get a better fender filled look, and then a rear sway bar. I am pretty sure that is the order I would go in, this chassis can push "not great" tires to their limit easily, and can overpower them even more easily. And save up for the struts/shocks/springs you really want in the mean time.

My ultimate goal is a simple / clean setup like gteaser had. Stock GT wheels but with 235/45. HRs on Konis. Front lip. Dual exhaust. I have a stock 2.5i but I already added the factory spoiler which looks way better. Here's his old setup.

My daily so far. Hate the mom wheels lol

Debadged it / added spoiler / 35% tint / filled front bumper tag holes. Bought some stock GT wheels. Nothing fancy. Just trying to make it a clean daily with subtle mods. Drive 85 miles a day. I'm in this thing a lot so I want to make it as fun to be in as possible.
