Guess it's my turn, yeah another engine rebuild thread.

What are you using to upload pics? You can save them to your computer, size them to around 640x? and then attach them to here. Or use photobucket

With our recent server upgrade, these are the new filetypes and size allowances.

Not sure which tmic you have, but I've found leaving the turbo loose on the up pipe until the tmic is located and tighten in the TB hose and turbo outlet is easier. Allows the turbo to move around a bit and help the tmic line itself up.

Yeah I remember reading that somewhere now that you mention it, something to note while pulling the damn thing off next weekend.

Rotella T6 ok for startup?

Don't use synthetic on a rebuilt or new engine right away. Use the cheapest dino oil you can find for the first startup and dump, or spend the $$ on something like Brad Penn/Joe Gibbs break-in oil.

Don't recommend synthetic for start-up/break-in on a new/rebuilt engine.

Redline has an engine break-in oil additive. For a new/rebuilt engine, I do the startup/warmup on straight dino, then immediately change the oil and filter (again with straight dino) and add the Redline Break-in Additive. Then I drive it relatively easy (no WOT/4K RPM limits) for the first 100 miles

At 100 miles replace the oil/filter with straight dino, and repeat the process again at 200, 300, 500 mile intervals. At a 1000 miles, I run the synthetic of my choice.

  • 4 weeks later...

I would really appreciate that. I don't remember how or when mine got separated because it's been so god damn long.

Anything under the intercooler pointing towards the harness. I can't find any pics of that area. I can't recall if the harness runs along the intake manifold, and how things like the connectors up towards the front of the engine (boost solenoid etc) are exactly threaded through there. I feel like I'm gonna have to pull the intake manifold again.

These pics on page 9 are pretty close, but he has done something different with his hoses. That hard breather tube that runs along the back and to both valve covers is missing.

Look I'm just gonna throw some pics up and if anyone can tell me whats phucked up that would really help a lot.

Pis of the chaos. The picture where I'm pointing is the pipe that the right port on the passenger side valve cover goes on correct? The left port goes up to the pcv tube. I know the damn hoses go right to them but the way this thing is fitting back together some things just feel out of place. I'm feeling that some of it may be the hose kit I bought, it's bigger in diameter than the old hoses. So places like between the turbo/intercooler connection I can't fit the harness down in it because of the bigger hoses.

I'd have to agree with that. There are two ports off the valve cover.

I have that plastic pipe removed because of the AOS.

Is this any help,

Make sure you put these ground wires back on the ground bar.

Here's the backside of my IM mess. Not sure if it'll be helpful because of what's missing, but the wiring harness is untouched as far as the location/routing goes.

Yeah, as of right now my harness goes across (in front of) the TB, blocking the elbow from being put on properly and thus I can't get the intercooler on. I seem to not have enough slack to drape it over the top as it sits. From your guy's pictures, the harness runs along the top of the hard plastic breather tube, mine currently does not. Also, where the harness runs to the front of the engine, it looks like both of yours goes between the plastic tube and the intake, mine goes under the tube then to the front. That's probably where the extra slack went.

Thank you guys so much.
