Fully smoked now

OCDetails

Recommended Posts

I think I've tinted everything I want to tint. headlight corners, tail lights, and side mirrors. I think it looks pretty darn good actually. The front corner tint and the tail tint was from Jinsu Power and the mirror signal tint was from Hot Subaru. There are more pictures on OCDetails.com, but here are a few comparison pictures.

This front view has gone through some changes....

I think having those clear lenses on the side mirrors tinted does a lot. Here is comparison from before.

Where would you put the holes on the wagon tails? Would they wrap around or would they just be shorter rows?

I don't know- I just know that it looks really nice on yours.

I've thought about it. This year's big purchase was the car itself. I'll have to wait till next year to get wheels. I'm still trying to figure out what would look best.

It probably would. I just need to find the right one. I've considered just modifying mine since there aren't many out there that are made for the USDM bumper and actually fit right.

Yeah, well... the spoiler came on the car and I'm not feeling much like filling the holes that it is bolted in through, so it probably isn't going anywhere. Personally I like the way it looks with the spoiler, so I wouldn't change it anyway. I had a 2.5i in my garage for a few days without the spoiler and I wasn't happy with it.

That's cool. I wouldn't post pics if I had a problem with people not liking what I've chosen to do. :) Actually, opinions would help as I'm trying to find a grille and wheels for the car next.

It actually isn't that much of a difference. At night you wouldn't even know there was something covering them. Durring the day they are a bit darker, but not enough to even be concerned about. They could probably be just a little bit lighter, but I'm not complaining.

That's the final straw, I just placed an order for smoked mirrors, corners, and taillights. You sure know how to tempt a guy!

My car is pretty much identical to yours OCDetails, minus the window tint. I'm going to buy a set of gunmetal or hyperblack 17" Rota G-Force rims next spring, so if you haven't decided whether to buy rims at that point, maybe I can return the favor and tempt you into spending some cash. :)

Thanks for the pics. Your car looks awesome!

By the way, what percent tint are your front windows?

I'm not sure I remember. I'm pretty sure they are 50 in front and 20 in back. Stupid tint shop wasn't aware that the Utah tint law changed recently and you can go darker in the front. It matches up pretty good though, so I'm not too bent. At least I get to tint the front windows unlike in California.

50%? Cool. We can do 50% front, 35% rear in Wisconsin. Your fronts look good at 50%, so when the time comes for me I'll probably go 50% all around, or maybe 38% all around if I'm feeling gutsy... my GTP has lived three yeras with that tint with no harassment.

Thanks!

I'd go 20% all around without worrying about getting talked to about it, but every other year I have to do a safety inspection and they test your tint. I'd have to pull it off every other year to keep my car registered. It only costs $60 bucks to do that, but it just isn't what I want to spend time and money on. With a good sunshade I think 50% does the job nicely at keeping light and heat out. When I've got a sunshade up you can't hardly even see in the car. Black interior + very little light = very low visibility and great deterrent for window shoppers. ;)

  • 1 year later...
I jus got my tinted covers in today and wanted to install them but it says the best time to install them is with temp's between 60-85. It may be around 60 degrees tommorow should I hold off on installing them. Also is a hair dryer really needed? I thought you had instructions on your site but i couldn't find them.
