Replaced the swaybar endlinks with Moogs, since the were clunking over bumps. Good upgrade from OEM...highly recommended.

Highly recommend these swaybar endlinks for anyone with any kind of clunking in suspension when riding over bumps.

After getting P0302 CEL for months now. I replaced the spark plugs, and still it continued, and finally replaced the injector. Here is to hoping that it is fixed.

Used this like to help me with the DIY.

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/injector-install-replacement-pics-189140.html

Created this injector puller tool:

Make sure to remove the Fuel Pump fuse, start the car and after 2 seconds or so the car will shutoff. Even doing this there was still fuel which squirted out when I removed the injector. Also had some drip/pour into the whole(you could here and see the fuel that was left over pour down into the chamber...nothing to worry about.

Replaced at mile 152722:

Also make sure to reset your ECU after you change the fuel filter. I actually got the CEL P0302 again right afterwards...I clear it and went for a ride, and it seemed to be good. Idle is much more steady.

How is the issue between 2,500 - 3,000 rpm since the new fuel injectors and fuel filter were installed?

Even if this isn't a "build" thread, I have enjoyed reading it thus far.

Billabong672, still have weird lag at 2500 rpm. Think i need a tune. Gona give it 1000 miles before i declare the p0302 CEL as resolved. The car drives and idles much better.

So after noticing the new responsiveness and torque gained after the fuel injector fix. I desicded to add a hitch so I can borrow a buddies riding mower. I have to say this little LGT is pretty strong.

I was able to modify the alarm system to unlock ALL doors on one click. I really hated having to click so many times to open the doors for my passengers.

Well needed mod.

So this week I finally clocked in at 10,000 miles since owning the car. Overall have started to really love and appreciate the LGT for its super versatility. The first 2,000+ -ish miles were rough...but after I was able to sort out the fuel injector issue it was smooth sailing from there.

So my main take away so far from owning a LGT, is its a family car/wagon, beat it up until it goes. I was planning on tuning and all sort of things, but I dont think its worth it to through money into it...whats even more awesome is that I starting using it to help my friend start his lawn care business...it can tow the heck out of a 12 foot tailor.

Recently my passenger axle broke and I was thinking if I can replace an axle on a civic, then the LGT should be just as easy. Well it sure was.

I used the article below to help me (Thanks Inigo Montoya):

http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/replace-rebuild-torn-cv-boot-and-axle-108975.html

TIP:

To separate the lower ball joint from the suspension arm, use some kind of socket (5/8) to wedge between it and the arm, then drop the arm really fast from the jack and it will slowly but surely separate it.

http://i.imgur.com/Y3SwNrG.jpg

The new axle looked different as it was missing the flat shields on both ends....still worked fine for me. I think it will leak a little bit of transmission fluid, but it is no biggie. I will periodically check and top off if needed.

Thanks for all the posts. Contains good information for maintaining my own 05 LGT

I am glad if it was useful. I like to keep a good running records of all my cars. If you are ever interested, I have a similar thread for S2000 and Rx8:

Just felt I had to share some good news related to Tire Rack and their road hazard plan.

I purchased a 215/45ZR-17 Continental ExtremeContact DWS back in January. Well by May it had developed a bubble.

http://i.imgur.com/W2XPgrA.jpg

I submitted a claim with tire rack. They directed me to Sonsio (Tire Rack's insurance provided). After submitting a bunch of pictures (tire dismounted). They issued me a refund.

Process:

1. I opted to order a replacement tire at my own cost

2. Called Tire Rack and opened a claimed. They provided me a claim number.

3. Removed bad tire

4. Had the shop circle the bubble

5. Then the shop installed the new tire and I held onto the old bad bubbled tire

6. Took pictures of:

a. One clear picture of the damaged area

b. One clear picture of the tread

c. One clear picture of the DOT (it contains letters and numbers, but one side ends in 4 numbers that is the side of the tire we need)

d. One clear picture of the brand/type/size of the tire

7. Emailed the pictures to tirerackphoto@sonsio.com, and noted my claim number.

8. Then after 2 weeks they sent me a check

So after a really long time of no issues. I am sad to report that yesterday morning my wife was unable to start the car and after hittng the start with one good wack from my breaker bar, it start up but had some CELs

Mileage: 160,963

CELs in the order they appears on my OBD2 reader:

P0335 - Crank Position Sensor circuit malfunction

http://i.imgur.com/QQSnTzf.jpg

P0345 - Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 - Driver side)

http://i.imgur.com/VE4iWom.jpg

P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 - Passenger side)

http://i.imgur.com/mUJxPi2.jpg

----------------------------

So did some reading on LGT, poked my head around the engine bay to find the sensors. Realized the Camshaft sensors are positioned in the worst please(very hard to reach and tight space to work), the Crankshaft Senor is easy.

Also since hitting my starter helped, I choose to replace it since it was old. I figured I get a remanufactured one and then rebuild my old one for later use.

http://i.imgur.com/4VMIzOn.png

I only purchased the Crankshaft sensor, because it was easy to replace.

Crankshaft Sensor - $23.78

Camshaft Sensor - $28.95

Starter - $143.99

----------------------------

DIY for Crankshaft sensor

1. locate it under the alternator

2. remove plug connector. i used a flat head screwdriver and slowly and carefully pressed with my finger and pushed off with the screwdriver.

3. Removed 10mm bolt. I used a mini ratchet and socket.

4. Remove and replace

http://i.imgur.com/u47ziiu.jpg

----------------------------

DIY for starter

1. Remove negative terminal of battery.

2. locate the starter under the intercooler

3. Removed intercooler (2x 12mm bolts on turbo side, 3x 12mm bolts holding the intercooler in on driver side, 2x 10mm bolts holding the blowoff valves, 1 clam holding the intercooler to the intake manifold)

4. Remove 12mm bolt holding power line to the back of the starter

5. Pull out the small plug holding another line to the back of the starter

6. Loosen upper starter bolt 14mm (use big breaker bar)

7. Jack up driver side of LGT

8. From underneath removed lower starter bolt 14mm

9. Go back top side and remove the upper starter bolt

10. Removed the starter slowly

So my wife started complaining how much the handbrake was feeling out of wack. I checked and yap it had to travel all the way up to maybe stop the car. So I fixed it.

SUPER EASY FIX. Remove Handbrake boot, adjust, and done.

I looked all over and never found any DIYs for this on a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Handbrake Adjustment, so I wrote one.

1. Place car on safe level ground

2. Place car into first gear (car is off of course)

3. Remove handbrake boot, paying attention to the clips highlighted below.

I just pulled straight up slowly, and used a plastic guitar pick to pry ever so slightly.

http://i.imgur.com/pFzI8Gx.jpg

4. Using a 10 mm ratcheting wrench tighten the bolt

So finally replaced my rear struts at 162,974 miles on OEM struts. WOW those things were shot when I got them off to check...They had no rebound. They got stuck in the down position and never came up.

Why: On highway the care felt like it was blowing around in the wind and I had no control over it. I believe they call it wandering rear end. Also my wife mentioned that she was getting car sick a lot when we go on long road trips because it felt like it the rear was bouncing a lot, even over flat roads.

What: Did balancing and 4 wheel alignment at the Subaru dealership. At that time I had them replace the rear upper control arms (Because those bolts are very hard to do on your own on jacks).

I later swapped my stock 05 LGT Wagon rear struts for the 08 Legacy 3.0R Bilstein struts.

BIG TIP from Duffman:

http://i.imgur.com/2QEnG06.jpg

BIG TIP 2: I used a vice grip to hold a 17mm socket so I can still use the alan key to get the bolts loosen at the top hats. Don't forget to take the slack off the springs first.

I swapped the stock springs because I wanted to keep the wagon springs/spring rate.
