Guest *Jedimaster*
OK- my bulbs are "Eurovision" or something like that- recommended by a guy I know- they're terrible- a blue beam that is significantly dimmer than stock- they come back out tomorrow! Guest *Jedimaster*
Yeah, I went in looking for Silverstars- I had them on my WRX and liked them. They didn't carry them so I asked for PIAA. The salesman was recommending the ones I bought, so I got them. What a waste. Took them back today actually and after arguing in a loud tone with a salesman about a refund, wound up with the manager giving me store credit. That's fine with me- I usually go there for detailing supplies cuz they're 2 minutes away.
GeorgeB
does anyone have philips blue vision or vision plus mounted on ?
TSiWRX
^ I did, quite a while ago (3+ years?), on one of my DSMs. I wasn't much impressed at all, and would actually rate the Sylvania SilverStars over the Phillips Blue-Vision and Vision-Plus lines. <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family
GeorgeB
over the stock bulbs ? was there a visible improvment ? i can get only philips bulbs here , and , maybe , and ii'm not sure about auto bulbs, osram .
HansGT
what is the output of our stock low and high beams (????K) ? i was thinking of getting the PIAA Xtreme Whites at 4000K (high and low beam). The Xtreme Force at 4700K are a bit more expensive and add more blue tint, but would make it harder to see in rain and fog...IMO. Here's a dumb question for someone. Are our DRL just our low beams....err is it our low beams just running at a lower wattage?

TSiWRX
GeorgeB - Over the stock bulbs, yes, the Phillips were an improvement. Slightly whiter color temperature, and slightly brighter. Whether or not the expense of the bulbs versus your stock bulbs will be "worth" the modification, to you, though, will be dependent upon how you perceive the output color/brightness as an individual. Han'sGT - Don't worry about the color temperature too much. Our eyes, biologically, actually respond better in the yellower part of the color spectrum, so having a bit of yellow (lower end of the 4000-5000 Kelvin range) can be very beneficial in terms of adding better depth perception, etc., to your night-time vision. Most factory-OEM HID systems are in the 4300 to 4600 Kelvin range. Typically, the "blue/violet/purple/indigo" that's perceived by oncoming traffic as well as the "rainbow" at the edge of such lighting when viewed from inside the cockpit are actually simply artifacts (undesireable) from the optics/ballast setup of these systems - which are designed instead to provide "stark white" color to the driver. <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family
