1970something
Looking for some advice for my 2005 GT wagon. I bought it with BC BR coilovers about a year ago - car has 80k miles and coils now have ~50k miles on them. The car sits a bit too low for me: Front - 25.00" ground-to-fender (13.25" hub-to-fender) Rear - 25.25" ground-to-fender (13.50" hub-to-fender) I'd like to raise it at least 0.50", if not 0.75". The car is daily driven and I'm looking primarily for ride comfort. My questions are: - After 50k miles, should I expect the dampers on the BRs to be worn out? I've read varying reports on how long these things last. Also, is there a good way to tell if they are dead? - Does anyone know the maximum height that the BRs can go? I've looked around a bit on this forum and can't find any hard numbers. - I also have the stock springs and shocks that came with the car (taken off at 30k miles). Thoughts on installing the stock springs with a new set of KYB GR2 shocks and mounts? Any advice is appreciated.
ssbtech
Koni cut-a-strut front inserts/rear shocks and Swift springs.
whitetiger
yes, do the konis and sell the coilovers. BC BR's are garbage anyways.
Moderators BarManBean Posted March 9, 2015 Moderators Share Posted March 9, 2015 You won't want swift springs with the primary goal of ride comfort. Go with Konis and stock springs. I think that you will be really happy with that setup. "Bullet-proof" your OEM TMIC! <<Buy your kit here>> Not currently in stock

ssbtech
There you go. I was just going by what I heard. Bilstein HDs and Spec B wagon pinks for me. Definitely not a comfort setup

1970something
Thanks for the help, guys. Are the konis infinitely adjustable or do they have discrete clicks between the softest and the hardest setting?
GTEASER
2 full revolutions of the knob from full soft to full firm. No clicks. Typically people adjust them in 1/2 turn intervals. boxkita
YOu can replace the cartridges in the BC Racing for $75/corner, maybe a bit more now. Then raise it up. A good corner balance will fix the lowness as well as ride, however, it was will always be more harsh than others. Curious what ride comfort is like I bought H&R springs and Bilsteins for my Mustang about a decade ago. Ride was super stuff and not really comfy. whitetiger
FWIW, $75 a cartridge shows you just how crappy the dampers really are.
