Corsaro
I got my nameless system installed yesterday, together with a decat downpipe and vf52. The exhaust is great build quality although it's a bit weird the join to the DP is a bellmouth instead of just a flat flange. They send u a big donut that works but a flat flange and gasket would be better. Even with the 5 inch cans is pretty loud. I have been driving with just a DP for 3 months and the exhaust is not much quieter, I think the decat has added something, lots of pops and bangs on the overunn ( which I like ) my wife thought I hadn't got it fitted when I came back from the shop :-) my dogs are Happy too, they can hear me coming home again a mile away. No resonance in the cabin thought which was a problem before with just a DP. Overall happy but not too happy wife.
skrotes
when you say nameless exhaust setup do you mean: http://shop.namelessperformance.com/subaru/ or, this nameless?(hahaha): http://m.ebay.com/itm/180908506209?fits=Model%3ALegacy%7CSubmodel%3AGT . I know you get what you pay for but I've priced out a few different set ups for way less than name brand exhausts. And as long as they aren't too loud they are just 3" of metal piping moving hot gas from here to there so why spend more on an invidia when I can use that for my protune. what's the general consensus out there? skrotes
Check this: Amazon.com: Subaru Legacy Catback Exhaust System 4" Dual Path Burn Tip Muffler - BL BP: Automotive This seems to be the same exact one that I have been looking at on ebay. If its the same as the ones others have used on this thread its suppose to be pretty loud. Can someone clarify for us whats the dealio with these? With a 3'' DP the ebay catback is loud and drone alot. The nice thing with the catback is you can use the midpipe or the mufflers with the OEM mid/mufflers

Would it quiet up the set up if I used the OEM mufflers with the rest of the afternarket setup? Are the OEM mufflers a direct bolt up to the aftermarket y-pipe? bigleben
Yes you can bolt the OEM mufflers on the ebay Y. It makes it quiet. I tried couple of setups (all with a 3'' catted DP) on my LGT sedan : -Ebay catback (loud and drone) even with the "resonated" version : honestly it was louder inside vs outside -Ebay mid + OEM Mufflers (too quiet for my taste, might be good tho with the wagon) -Ebay mid + Prodrives mufflers (best sound but still droned and loud on cold startup) : althought from outside it was a melody Finally I found the ideal setup (for me) : TurboXS midpipe + varex mufflers (pricey but you have both quiet and loud whenever you feel like it) Here is the thread about it. I've since parted out my LGT (going eventually to sell) and installed it on my OBXT. I bent the hangers to clear the bumper beam but I might modify it later on as the Ypipe sits a bit too low for my taste (good thing I'm at stock height). http://i780.photobucket.com/albums/yy90/bigleben/IMG_0346.jpg http://i780.photobucket.com/albums/yy90/bigleben/IMG_0347.jpg
skrotes
All you guys with OBXT's running the nameless exhausts for legacy gt sedans have you had any fitment issues?
skrotes
Also I have read that the cat-backs use a donut gasket to mount to the downpipe does this pose any serious problems when using an aftermarket exhaust?

I'd say clearance with the bumper beam and cover. Also I have read that the cat-backs use a donut gasket to mount to the downpipe does this pose any serious problems when using an aftermarket exhaust? Grimmspeed has an adapter for this purpose
bikerx500
Just got my Nameless Performance CBE put on yesterday and I'm really loving it. It is a little louder than I had hoped but no where as bad as if I had just deleted the mufflers all together. When the shop put it up on the car I had them do a slight modification to the Invidia downpipe I have, they welded in a small ring to hold the donut gasket that nameless provides with the catback so it doesn't slide around while it is being tightened up and doesn't crush off center making it leak. otherwise it fit up perfectly. The Grimmspeed adapter will only work if you are going from an aftermarket downpipe to a stock catback (from what I have seen in person with the adapter) since its not made to fit up to the normal 3"/4" piping on most of the aftermarket catbacks. If you are going from an aftermarket exhaust to stock downpipe then I imagine that you could have any decent muffler shop fab something up to adapt it. Other wise I think with most aftermarket catback and aftermarket downpipe combinations, they should fit up fairly closely with only some small fitment issues associated with using all kinds parts not designed for each other specifically. Flinkly
yeah, i've always wanted to know the inlet diameter on the STI muffler. looks like 2.25" though, since you're stock elsewhere. * Build Thread * 26.53 MPG - 12 month Average *
