itzed
Replacing a front bearing on my 2006 2.5i with 172K. I've removed the bolts holding the hub on, but it's completely frozen. The axle is loose, but it's frozen to the steering knuckle. I hit the darn thing so hard that the bearing actually came apart. Any ideas how I can get this thing off? 12sechatch
Keep hitting it. You're not going to damage the bearing any more.
underpowerd
looks like you've got a good soak on it -- using pb blaster & letting it sit for a while? (not liquid wrench/wd -- BIG difference for that job)
Gex
Bigger hammer. Maybe some heat.
bigleben
Hit it with a chisel where the red arrow is and around. Worked for me.
lovedr79
what about using an air chisel where the red arrow is?
lingling1337
excessive cussing and a bigger hammer is what it took for me.
JmP6889928
You don't have that off yet? Seriously? Smack the four corners of the hub directly over the holes with a BFH-straight into the knuckle. Go around from hole to hole about 2-3 times and then smack it right on the side of the bearing housing and it should come loose easily.
