I've been a member on here for a bit lurking, figured I should start a build thread! Anyways, I picked up this beauty just before winter for a good price. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3830/10163908953_74516f7187_c.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3828/10163840356_4d219ccb08_c.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2862/10163837156_c9d3e2cbe3_c.jpg 05 Outback XT - 5spd, no compression in cylinder 4, and a spun rod. The body and interior was in great shape, no dents, very few scratches and chips, no rust! Mods that came on the car included a Invidia Downpipe, Up-pipe, Exedy stage 1 clutch and an Exedy lightweight flywheel. I sourced a new motor right away, and started wrenching. Spent the next weekend got it up and running. Did a few unplanned upgrades as well.. -Swapped in a motor that has 60K, overhauled...all gaskets and seals changed -Odyssey AGM battery -Killer B oil pickup -Killer B windage tray -Upgraded dual roller timing belt idlers, timing belt service -Tomei belt guide -Denso plugs -Grimmspeed up-pipe -Invidia Q300 catback for Legacy, modified to fit Outback -New KYB Legacy shocks F+R -Tein S.Tech springs -Cobb Accessport V3 Ran great! Engine pulled smooth and strong, car sounded really rowdy. After longer drives my back started to hurt, the factory seats have really poor support. I had a recaro bucket kicking around, so I installed it. I have to say it makes driving the car very enjoyable. I don't slide around while cornering now either. http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5542/10333868863_124bfb5c0b_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7395/10333727755_eb0ac16ba3_c.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3668/10333724184_157066538a_c.jpg Another big complaint was the brakes. Very mushy pedal, even after bleeding and flushing them. Decided to throw on some better brakes. I sourced some calipers from a 2012 STi and grabbed some DBA 5000 series slotted fronts, and 4000 series slotted rears, with Endless pads and Endless RF650 fluid. Also picked up a Grimmspeed MCB. .........And then the snow hits. I had mounted some new WS70 on GR BBS STi wheels, and sourced some 5x100-->5x114 spacers. Did an alignment before the snow hit as well, traction was awesome! Here is how she sits on the winter setup http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3824/10829320935_3f232a99cc_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7334/10829373236_85060c8130_c.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5471/10829653763_2e8d323f12_b.jpg Drove it like that for a long time, until last week when I got a really good deal on a Blouch 380xt turbo. Installed a Crawford AOS, Perrin inlet, 380xt, DW740cc injectors. Currently sits like this: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3785/11810572965_df0c0e473e_b.jpg Modlist: -GR STi wheels with Blizzak's -GR STi Brake calipers -DBA 5000 series 2pc front rotors -DBA 4000 series 1pc rear rotors -Endless pads -Endless RF650 fluid -Grimmspeed brake master brace -Lowered on KYB Legacy shocks and lowering springs -Whiteline front and rear adjustable sway bars -Kartboy Endlinks -Kartboy short shifter and bushing kit -Recaro Profi SPG seat -Bride Seat rail -Exedy Stage 1 clutch -Exedy Street Light flywheel -DW 65c fuel pump -DW 740cc injectors -Crawford AOS -Blouch 380xt turbo -Perrin top mount intercooler -Perrin inlet -COBB turbo heatshield -Killer B oil pickup -Killer B oil pan baffle -Tomei billet belt guide -Invidia Q300 exhaust -Invidia catless downpipe -Grimmspeed up-pipe -COBB SF intake and airbox -COBB V3 Accessport

N2L Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 Well you built my favorite car in 5 minutes. You're a 6-speed swap away from me offering my soul in trade.
drunkinmonk Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 I like how your winter beater is where I want my daily driver to be. What's your summer car?
VEX_JB Posted January 21, 2014 Author Posted January 21, 2014 I was thinking about doing the 6spd swap next, but I think better suspension is higher on the priority list. I have a few "summer cars" This is my 2JZ-GTE VVTi swapped Lexus GS300, it's pretty built. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3744/10947511164_e4b520929e_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7386/10947593593_7936a5cb66_b.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5528/10947410356_1b497f0c33_b.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2887/10947586823_3b2c01831b_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3746/10947356705_44599cdb1a_b.jpg White car is the wifes GS300. Then I have a Lexus LS430 UL, VIP http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2873/10321250993_74e474a5bb_b.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2862/10200239434_90eb9839ff_b.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5510/10257944865_92bf4c6cc0_b.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2823/10257832714_433604dd59_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3824/9310195169_da22823a94_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8428/7727646740_249ed7dff1_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8099/8469033891_3aa72a1f03_b.jpg And then my Datsun 240z. N2L Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I'm even more impressed with the OBXT considering your other vehicles are in a completely different category of customization. You've seriously got an eye for style man. Are you professionally involved with cars? Or just an enthusiast?
Cerebral_1 Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 I like how your winter beater is where I want my daily driver to be. What's your summer car? I agree with drunkinmonk. I LOL'd when you called this your "winter beater"....until I saw your other cars. Really nice builds, man!
VEX_JB Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Thanks guys, really appreciate all the kind words! Yes I work at a shop in Calgary, AB Canada called VEX Performance. Been in the automotive industry for almost 10 years.
BDII Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Why would you put all the money into your lexus then slam and add all that camber with stretched tires? It's like marrying a super model and making her get a breat reduction and gain 50lbs. It's just.... Wrong Need forum help? Private Message legGTLT
VEX_JB Posted January 22, 2014 Author Posted January 22, 2014 Why would you put all the money into your lexus then slam and add all that camber with stretched tires? It's like marrying a super model and making her get a breat reduction and gain 50lbs. It's just.... Wrong Well on the rear of my GS300 I have 325 tires and 0 camber. So it hooks up pretty good. These are also my "show" wheels fyi. And the suspension is actually optimized. I have custom one off Zeal Function PF coilovers (the only set like it in the world). It's a short stroke shock for proper handling at that ride height.
coppertone Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 You sir have my dream car garage, if I were allowed to dream lol. Now do you run the shop, or are you the owner? 2010 2.5GT limited is for sale.
VEX_JB Posted January 23, 2014 Author Posted January 23, 2014 Yep manage the front, and I do some dyno tuning.
coppertone Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Then may I ad that you are doing well by yourself and your wife. I like that you've added what you enjoy to your vehicles. I personally would be greatful for any and all photos that you are willing to share. If you do not want to clutter your post, you could always email them to me. 2010 2.5GT limited is for sale.
VEX_JB Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 I'm having issues with the Blouch boost creeping to 24psi at redline, actuator is set to 15psi. Looks like I'm going to need to get an EWG.
boostedgrocerygetter Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Wow is all I'll say. Wow. And impressed.

Leviman Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 What a looker! So you're running wheel adapters to get the wheels on there? How much do those space the wheels out? Also, what size tire and how do the swifts ride? Great stance, I may have to copy you mwahaha
