Austinlgt05
So i just bought a 2005 legacy gt 5eat. Its got 124k and has a full ISC N1 coil over suspension. I need to know what the most important things are maintenance wise to keep my subie nice and healthy. A few things i've read up on already is cleaning the banjo bolt filter with every oil change, getting a catless up pipe, cleaning the heads around 100k and i also need to do the timing belt and water pump asap. Another thing i read was something about an egt sensor mod ? If anyone could clarify these things for me id greatly appreciate it
cypher0117
egt sensor will no longer be in your up pipe if you remove that to get the cat out. a 2.2kohm resistor into where the sensor plugs into the harness fixes the CEL. There is debate about what oil to use. I use T6. Just about every agrees though to stay away from Mobil oil in these cars. It is generally accepted that a stage1 map is a good idea to fix the flaw in the stock map that CAN burn your valves. If you plan on a lot of power the valve body mod for your trans is a good idea. And as a general rule, if you have an issue someone on here has probably dealt with it and you can probably find good info by using the search
chato
+1 on rotella T6, you need to check it regularly (in before max, ha) also make sure you are using an oil filter with a high enough bypass pressure. you don't need to clean the banjo bolt every time. annually is probably fine. I just took mine out altogether. don't get an aftermarket intake without tuning for it. and don't ever get the SPT intake. cat back exhaust isn't really a power mod on these cars. don't buy cheap new parts from ebay. buy from vendors on the forum when you can. they will help you, its only a matter of time. pretty much anything you need to know is already on the site. search the site using google by using the site operator command "site:legacygt.com (search query)" in the google search window. also read the stickies. check your power steering pump o-ring, PS rack, axle boots, valve cover gaskets, turbo inlet for holes at the turbo, and tmic to TB hose for seal this weekend. chisav
Already been said but most important thing is to always check your oil level.
Austinlgt05
@chato you can take out the banjo bolt all together ?
rob-2
I'd probably do some basic inspection, leak down, compression, inspect turbo for play and change all the fluids.

Can you elaborate on this one? I take it it's the stock tune's lean condition when going into boost right? 05 LGT 16G 14psi 290whp/30mpg (SOLD) 12 OBP Stock 130whp/27mpg@87 Oct 00 G20t GT28r 10psi 250whp/36mpg 22 Ascent STOCK
