eamiller
not only that, but they burn up way too easily.. they are not automotive rated parts (or they don't derate the current) I have had 3 of 4 burn out (got them off ebay)..

mvigneau
They make bright LEDs. Ones that are like 6000mcd+. You can regulate the current with some resistors and diodes so that they don't burn out as easily... No Silent CD Aux-In Solution
Xenonk
keefe, where did you get all your crystal ion bulbs?? my sponsor gets them for me, but you can get them here at http://www.eautoworks.com Here are ALL the direct links of the bulbs you need for a GT: http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-21967.cfm http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-23600.cfm http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-906.cfm http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-21964.cfm http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-2626.cfm http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-23846.cfm http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-14387.cfm http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-23933.cfm http://www.eautoworks.com/html/search-1-Legacy~Cars~Horn.htm http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-7045.cfm http://www.eautoworks.com/html/ORD-1-1-1-21984.cfm Keefe Keefe

ICE-SS
FYI, unless specifically stated, most LEDs are directional...meaning that the light is brightest only directly in front, not to either side. Regular bulbs have the advantage of throwing equal amounts of light in all directions. So it may look as though the LEDs are less bright when in fact they are just not wide angle. Jaesx
Then you should check out these LED's that I found... www.v-leds.com The refractor halo lights project their light at 90 degree angles and even behind it, to fill up the light housing's reflectors. Pretty cool and look to be quality items. I ordered some this last week and I am dying to get them in the mail! I'll post pics when installed... After waiting for the snail mail to show up. Gire
Just get some xenon crystal white replacement bulbs. Don't waste money on LED-interior anything. I have used Toucan's Eurolites in my car(s) for about 8 years now and their xenon white series is very bright and pure white. Their 3022's in the dome light locations work great and using xenon's to replace the interior-door-ajar-safety lights light up the street hugely and always draw stares from people at night. I recommend them.
mccorry
Guys.... go to Radioshack. Buy some 4000-5000 mcd diodes (they have all kinds of colors). These are SUPER bright. To keep them from dying, you MUST wire in a resistor prior to the LED. No LED's are made to run under 12V. When you buy the LED, it will have some values on the package. Plug these valuse in here: http://www.luxeonstar.com/resistor-calculator.php and it will tell you the type of resistor required. The LED's will outlast your car if you do this correctly. Xenonk
I just realized, aren't these tube-fuse type bulbs with LEDs are directional? Meaning you gotta rotate them within the light housing to get them pointed in the correct direction? Keefe
mccorry
All LED's (Light Emitting DIODE) are directional. If you install them backwards, they will not work.

Scotty
If you want to do some custom LED's. Bivar makes a LED that is 60 lumens. High power flashlights like Surefire will put out about 60 lumens which is bright enough to make you look away when shined in your eyes.
Cstoop
Jaesx, Let me know how those halo leds work out. They look like they will work great. I was going to order them, but I figured I wait till the weather turns a little nicer & i can clear the headlights too.

Nsaglibene
I got some Led's I was pritty satisfied. I replaced the dome with a 31mm festoon with 9 leds in it. I like the color, and it doesnt seem as intense but it seems to light up more space. I replaced the side markers in the door with red 6 led festoons. The trunk a 5 led matrix which spreads the light rather than being single directional. And just put red single leds in the glovebox and cubby. IwannaSportSedan
I have been wondering if it would be easy or good to install some RED leds in the overhead console when I get my Legacy. I sat in an A4 one afternoon as it was getting dark, and turned the parking lights on, to see the dash light up. There were little red LEDs somewhere out of sight in the headliner or overhead panel, that shone down on the center console. They weren't bright, nor do I think they were supposed to be, but they kind of bathed the console in a low red glow, (think darkroom lighting, or even less...) to see the switches, and things... I think that would be a cool thing to add to the overhead panel of a Legacy, and I think I remember someone mentioning it a long time ago. The 06 even has a nice place for it, under the smoked lens, on the windsheild side, "behind" the passenger airbag display. (why it has a passenger airbag display, I have no idea... information that really makes fairly little difference.) I was looking at http://www.theledlight.com/ the other day, and saw this... It is called the golden dragon, and is set up for 12vdc. If they had some sort of rheostat or something that could adjust the intensity (in case it is too bright...) I think this would work well for that purpose. http://www.theledlight.com/img-LEDclusters/led-board.jpg Link: http://www.theledlight.com/led-clusters.html Bottom of the page. They also have replacement bulbs, and other fun stuff on this site, in addition to fun things on other sites like v-leds.com

Scotty
The Audi/Volkswagon have 2 red leds in the rear view mirror. You can probably swap it out for one since the Subaru homelink/autodimming mirror is the same as the Audi/Volkswagon's On-Star mirror.
Chappy
Id like to upgrade the lighting in my map lights and dome. I remember this thread on NASIOC about doing the same thing on a WRX.
