  1. You are the man, tehnation. Thank you for that information. So it would appear that the two hoses that are currently connected in the picture you see here are going to the right locations. But I don't know that I ever had a third shorter piece that leads to the back of the intake manifold. I'm not the original owner of this car and when I got it the turbo was taken off the interview was taken off too. I just recently got it all back together and it seems to be running very well. Can't wait to get that last little line hooked up and see how much better it runs. I'll try to find that location on the back of the intake manifold that you're talking about. Thanks in advance! 2. Thanks for the info. Ok, so what does that little blue T-connector fitting go to then? I thought it went in one of the two tubes. Ha ha. Sent from my Z851M using Tapatalk
  3. So I was doing some work on the intercooler this afternoon, and noticed two hoses coming up from the top of the transmission towards the bottom of what would be the intercooler area of the engine bay. Only one of these ,hoses had any fittings attached to the ends of them, however, I've not noticed any sort of issues with the transmission shifting funny or what not. Are there supposed to be fittings and hoses attached to these two hoses coming off of the transmission? Common Sense would tell you there must be something that had to attach there at one point in time, but I've no idea what it would be? Thanks y'all Sent from my Z851M using Tapatalk
  4. Great. Is there an online catalog I can reference? I'm looking specifically at the intake manifold runner control valve between the two motors. Thank you sir
  5. good afternoon ladies and gents. I was wondering if the motor that they use in the 2010 legacy was the same as they did in 2005. I need to go pull some parts off of a 2010 I want to make sure that they're compatible for I go there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance have a good afternoon
  6. good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. I have a quick question. Does anyone know if the engine that they put in the 2010 legacy GT is the same as the engine they put in the 2005 to 2009 legacy GT series? I know the body style changed in 2010, but did the engine change as well? I'm about to go full some parts off of a 2010 LEGACY AND I WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE COMPATIBLE WITH MY 2005 LEGACY. THANKS IN ADVANCE
  7. Thanks for the info. It seems like everyone has moved away from the vf40. I will probably do the same. Sent from my SM-J336AZ using Tapatalk
  8. Does anyone have any thoughts on the ihi vf40 turbo. I'm not seeing a lot of information online about this manufacturer one way or the other. Good or bad. Has anyone had it any experience with this Turbo Sent from my SM-J336AZ using Tapatalk
  9. O believe it's this device that's causing the air leak. Sent from my SM-J336AZ using Tapatalk
  10. Good evening everyone. I have a vacuum line leak somewhere around, what would appear to be, the EVAP electric valve or switch. I'm not sure what it is. It has two leads from a harness that plug into it, and two hoses that come out of it running parts of the vacuum system. Is there a way to bypass that switch? I think a new one is about 90 to $100. Right now, it's making a very audible hissing noise as it's sucking air from somewhere around that switch or valve. Sent from my SM-J336AZ using Tapatalk
  11. Just wanted to pick everyone's brain and see if anyone had any ideas on a more comfortable seat option for these Legacies? I have a 2005 GT oh, and while the ride is great, the car is quiet, the seats are hard as hell. I want this to feel like a lazy boy on steroids. Any ideas? I'm sure there's some Aftermarket seats out there that would fit and would work well, I just don't know which ones had been field-tested buy real consumers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 12. That video is great! I love it. Sent from my Nokia 3.1 C using Tapatalk
  13. yes sir. Like one of the other guys mentioned. I love a good sleeper, and this was just about as good as it gets. I'm hooked. I'm already trying to find me a good slightly used spec b that's within my price range. Those are beautiful cars. I can't even imagine how fast they are Sent from my Nokia 3.1 C using Tapatalk
  14. the previous owner spun out the turbo prior to giving me the car. Like I said I took it in on a trade count as a joke if you will. I thought if nothing else I could get it going as a commuter car. However, now I can't stop driving it. but to answer your question, I went and spent about $600 on a good aftermarket turbo. Also, yes, I did my due diligence in terms of cleaning out the intercooler all of the passageways, anywhere and everywhere foreign particulatess could contaminate the system. I put severa lhundred miles on it now with this new turbo, and broken improperly. She's good to go. Sent from my Nokia 3.1 C using Tapatalk
  15. everyone here on this form is been very very helpful in terms of answering questions that I've had. There's a whole wealth of knowledge here that people are very willing to share with others. That's a breath of fresh air. thank you for the maintenance tips I will definitely check them out. I've done several things already that were suggestions of other people, but I'll check out these as well. It's good to be here, and I'll say it again, damn this car is fast. 16. So I've owned my 05 Subaru legacy 2.5 GT turbo now for about 6 months. I have to admit, I took the car in exchange for some money I loaned a friend of mine. So the cars in good shape, and has 160k on it. CARFAX shows no issues or injuries to the car whatsoever. I put a new turbo on it the other day and started to drive it regularly. Now I can't stop driving it. This is my first Subaru, so this is all new to me. That being said, I have I noticed several things about the car. Firstly, It's fast. I mean ridiculously fast for a 4-door family car. It will outrun my 96 Impala SS LT1 V8 with upgrades. I took it to a local 1/8 mile track here two weekends ago, and it's running about 5.7 on the 0 to 60. This is bone stock, mind you, with no cold air intake, and no special provisions made in the engine at all. So, I look at the 0 to 60 time on the internet, and it shows the same. About a 5.3, 0-60 was fairly consistent; however, it must have been faster than that because I'm close to that at 160 k later. Secondly, I found another small surprise by accident. This sport mode on the transmission. My car does not have the dial to switch between the different modes, rather, you have to slide it over to the manual shift position for the sport mode engage. And holy s***. That just made it even faster. What is going on with these Subarus? How have I overlookef these gems for all this time? How Are they getting this kind of power out of a boxer 4-cylinder? I can cruise at 100 miles per hour without it feeling the slightest bit out of control. No shimmies no shakes no worries. I live here in the central Texas area of the United States, so you don't see many Subarus around this area. I feel like my whole existence is being questioned now. Haha. 17. I have an 05 Subaru legacy GT 2.5 turbo. This is going to sound a little strange, but when I really give it gas, and the turbo makes boost, I hear this very rapid and intermittent "sucking" sound coming from what appears to be the turbocharger. The closest thing I can equate it to would be the sound that you hear when you stick your hand over the end of a vacuum cleaner hose and then remove your hand....that intermittent puffing sound is what I hear, but only whenever I have the car under heavy load and the turbocharger has made boost. Is that normal? To me it sounds like a small steam locomotive engine or something. Sent from my Nokia 3.1 C using Tapatalk
  18. Yes sir. You were right. Drivers side act is out. can cold one also be a gentleman at Pick-n-Pull in a going to install it tomorrow. again, I can't tell you how much I think you for all your help. Keep up the good work and if I can contribute financially to y'all's cause, please let me know. Respectfully, John Sent from my Nokia 3.1 C using Tapatalk
  19. Wow, you know you can do so much from the inside of your car. this is great information I have. So I'm doing my checking everything is checked out to be okay thus far. As far as the sensors and electronics go. I think the next step is I need the diagnosis procedure for AC - 24. The actuator diagnosis test proceedure. Would you happen to have that particular procedure handy? That would be the last piece of the puzzle. Thank you so much Sent from my Nokia 3.1 C using Tapatalk
  20. Thanks, but the levels and pressures are all in specs. Pass side works as it should. Driver's side is HOT all the time. is there a separate fuse that runs those actuators? Also, is there a way to test the control module itself for functionality? I think the blend actuator is out or going out. The odd thing is that it will blow cold for about 10 to 15 minutes every once in a while. Maybe every 6 or 7th time that I drive the car it works properly. However it never stays that way. Sent from my Nokia 3.1 C using Tapatalk
  21. That's good information to have. thank you for the update. I could not get the specs to open up though. Can you post what the pressure specs are supposed to be for me? I would appreciate it. Thanks again and I'll keep everyone updated Sent from my Nokia 3.1 C using Tapatalk
  22. I need some help regarding the dual climate control in my 2005 Subaru legacy GT. it's already getting hot in here in Texas, and I've noticed that my dual climate control in my Subaru legacy is not working. It will blow hot on the driver side, but no cold air will come out; however, pass side hot/cold works fine. I've read about the diverter servos going out, but I've also read about the module itself going out as well. About two weeks ago it started blowing cold for about 30 minutes then it went back to hot again. so that leads me to believe that it may not be the faulty servo, but in fact a faulty module. Is there any way to test this out? Does anyone have any ideas or tricks I can try before I start tearing the dash down? It's already getting hot here in Texas so any help would be greatly appreciated Sent from my Nokia 3.1 C using Tapatalk
  23. Ahhhhh.. yes you guys are correct. I will leave it be since my legacy has 168k and the tranny is solid. I bought it with 100k and no problems. Still shifts very tight. Thanks for the feedback guys!
  24. So, I changed my battery out on my legacy the other day and I noticed that there was a filter, of an inline filter style, located behind the battery Trey area in my car. Does anybody know what this filter is for and how, wind is supposed to be replaced. Please excuse my ignorance as I am new to the legacies, but I've never seen one located on against a fender wall like that. Thank you
  25. I spunout my vf40 turbo the other day. I need to get it replaced, and I’m wondering if y’all could shed some light on a good source for getting one fairly quick. I don’t want OEM as I cannot afford it. But I don’t want to buy one of those $200 jobs either. If somebody can point me to a link I would appreciate it. I think the turbo spun out due to the engine going into bypass mode and not allowing adequate oil circulation to the turbo. My second question is, do they sell a larger aftermarket oil filter? The one that’s on my car is about the size of two tuna cans stacked together. Can’t imagine that being very effective Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
