  5. Depends on what "more power" is. I'm putting a Heuberger sourced shortblock in my DD right now and don't think I'll lose any sleep running Dyno tuned Stg2 power levels in this car for years to come. On a proper tune these motors can handle that power no problem. Hell, I got 8 seasons on track flogging the crap out of my GT wagon, (plus daily driving) at stg. 3 before the ringland finally let go. The GT got a built shortblock and heads after that happened since "the daily beatings will continue until moral improves"

  9. Nice Gator looks good. The effect you're seeing in the video isn't really vibrations as much as its the "rolling shutter" effect that is typical in any modern CCD camera that doesn't have a global shutter. Pretty much any POV camera will do it high speed situations, especially under high G loads. We see that to a varying degree on all our shoots when we use POV. The SD card you're using is probably fine, if it wasn't fast enough, it wouldn't write to it at all. We routinely see glitches here and there on location under high G load shots as again the cameras do a pretty good job 90% of the time but can still throw an error once in awhile.
  10. Dang if this guy feels that the DCCD is helping him to go faster, (and it is) he might want to start by working on hitting his apexes right thereby giving him more exit speed and hey, you rented the whole track holmes, use all of it smooth is fast...

  12. Nice, thanks for sharing. I'm not ready to do anything yet but I've been wondering how airflow is in the area at just a few inches off the roof. Thinking about fabbing up some sort of small spoiler that comes off easily and mounts to a thin blade style cross bar that spans and attaches between the roof rails, (similar to a cross bars on a bike rack) Since I'll probably never do a massive front splitter, but still something more conservative, I'm wondering if doing "a little up front and a little out back" might give me some benefits down the road

  15. I've definitely changed my tune of late on goals for my car based on what I have seen and learned over the years, (including Sgt. Gators recent issues). I'm most likely going to abandon any big power increases down the road in an attempt to keep some level of longevity in the GT wagon. Certainly things can always go south regardless when you're putting these cars thru the stresses of track driving but I really feel that keeping these cars out of big numbers can only help unless you're ready to bleed cash. Instead of moving up the food chain with bigger turbo and fueling beyond what I'm already running, I think I'll just look to swap out to a slightly bigger intercooler (Grimmspeed) next year and swap in some Killer B holy headers, re-tune and call it good. Hoping that my new forged motor / upgraded valvetrain/ and 6 speed swap will set me up for a (hopefully) hassle free future. One never knows...
  16. Really hope they come correct. When I saw this post it scared the crap out of me since Dave built my forged internals short block last year. Luckily I've had a few track days on the motor now and everything appears to be up to snuff. Granted my build was not nearly as exotic as yours. I picked Rallispec based on their good rep with Suby motors and history with performance builds and thats why Gator did as well. If I was Rallispec I'd pay for the entire ship to/from and repairs if it ended up being my fault, which it appears to be. Thats how you keep your sterling reputation. Business 101, when you F up you apologize and make it right for your customers
  17. What he said. I'm in the same boat. Still looking at $600-$800 to get into a HANS set up that doesn't suck. Worth your life? Obviously, but still a chunk to pay. Happy I've got a legit driving suit and gloves. Hope to look at HANS gear when I can afford.

  20. Yup, opted for the Moroso unit when I did my forged build last year. Good build quality and less expensive than Killer B...
  21. 357whp on stock pistons and that kind of boost and a stock clutch? Thats your problem right there You're a lucky man to have gotten 45k mi. out of that set up. Kiss your tuner, he did a good job. You've got a rare bird in good nick. I'd build it, (mildly: forged pistons for example, I'll let everyone else argue 4032 vs. 2618, I have my own opinions...) if you want to keep it at those power levels or just buy a stock SB from Heubergers and detune it down to 300 at the wheels. Still a fun car at those power levels.
