  1. My 7in Double Din is going into my 08 SPEC B no probs...
  2. I don't know if this fits or is applicable but deals with the the 2005 OEM radio with Auto Dual Zone as this this the only oem radio that can be converted retaining HVAC controls and allowing for double DIN install, I'm currently underway, it requires not for the novice soldering, buts that's it, I bought a plastic fascia for $40 and radio from bone yard for 30 so instead of $300 weeks later, cost me under $100, minus HU, steering controls. This is a pdf a member made a post about I take no credit just listing as a resource, original thread was on here as is the pdf. PDF Subaru Legacymod.pdf
  3. TLDR at bottom... I know I arrived late at the tuning scene, but the internet is forever and documentation isn't going anywhere, more and more opensource is dying, which I get, but I don't wanna see a company that charges based on the name, if I didn't have the cobb air duct I would have bought AEM even if it gave less HP. With my AP on my 08 Spec b it was laughable, if it wasn't constantly over boosting. I know about the the size of the blah may need adjustment according to Subaru Cobb Pros. Who suggested a 3 port more $$$. This doesn't make sense, 2007 stock exhaust injectors cobb intake open tune never overboost, and a little bit bigger vf52 vs 46 or 48 stock. I talked to a private e-tuner and said that 32bit ecu aren't fully, comprehended(reverse engineered), cobb has the $$ for R&D because they change 200 for sheet metal, ripping off on all aspects. Getting ready to skip the cobb bashing thread.....this is about Cobb. This about tuning, I remember my first 97 Impreza I knew of OBDII had usb scanner with laptop, pulling codes, wishing to touch the ecu 16 years ago. Now thanks? to the G*** the mandated that all protocols be released as not to be prosperity software, so nice 3rd party devices such as the idiot proof cobb tuner. I had an AP it came with my 2nd Spec B there were 2 or 3 maps, that wouldn't touch my opensource tune on my 07 spec b with 300 @ wheels. Cobb has too many applications, by nature of liability they tune conservatively. My 2007 spec b was stock, besides opensource tune, cobb air pipe, and a vf52 swap. that's it, no messing with injectors, fuel pumps. OEM exhaust and my dyno chart shows 300+, 300WHP. I apologize for the wall of text, when I got the 2008, it had OEM intake, catback SPT exhaust and a cobb AP. I don't think the cobb did anything, with the 3 maps I was able to download, and all had to be LWD versions. As every map gave the 2008 over boost in various situations. So I spent the ridiculous $$ from the sale of the AP bought tectrix, Innovate Wo2. I'm learning this as I go, making minor changes reading everything I can learn about ecu management w/turbos I also have a BS in Computer Science and have been reversing my 08 spec b for more defs. I wanted to have a pro, look at E-Tuning, I contacted one and this is the one that said we only cobb as opensource and 32bit, maybe he was lazy, I can see how one gets used to a comfy GUI and push buttons, I gre up with MSDOS and use LINUX, I digress. Then I saw an add from a vendor offering discounts but only on cobb tubes. IMHO, seems like everyone one wants the easy way out, spend hours working on mechanical parts but cant read up on Integral or Proportional? I just wanted to say Tectrix $180 (log w/ or not with a computer) Cobb $750 (not including accessories) Interesting in modifying or adjusting, for only $150 user license you can attend cobb University, where u must watch videos to obtain their Access Tuner so you can edit your own maps. So $1000 and you still don't have a clue. I took my cable killed my over boost, rescaled my MAF, doubt AP does that and ask anyone who is a pro, what you need to do when u change that airbox. TOO Long DIDNT READ Seems like possibly Cobb/ Industry moving away from opensource, understandably, as Colby(I believe and others?) who wrote rom raider works for cobb so I understand the project halted. It's written in Java, which the code can be written in a text file not a compiler like other languages, that's how simple it is. For me OPENSOUCE isn't going anywhere, I don't even want a cent, I think its time for a facelift. If you would like to bash Open V. Cobb go ahead, I don't want arguments, post factual information or logical. No HERSAY, logs, roms talk and dyno sheets(speaking) incase u think Im BSin........(Found an old cobb log, it pushed 19.32PSI A/F was 11.14 lowest it goes, my tune is at 16, OEM TMIC blow apart over 19/20PSI? My 2007 Spec B Dyno NO COBB AP stock exhaust just a vf52 no injectors or fuel pump........
  4. If your using Rom Raider, Im assuming, goto menu -> settings -> logger xml file maybe give it the dtd file too. I also throw copies in the main program directory c://x86programfiles/romaider/ add it the way described and throw in directory, which I doubt does anything also, make sure logger def and ecu are up to date, the forums have been down so I can give u a copy of which ever u need ecu defs etc... My Curent vers are: Logger: v362 Ecu: Merph Mod ECUFLASH : ver 1444799 Latest Dyno, ecu.xml If you need see it I don't halve a problem at walking a picture guide, if remainder is up read the faq, I'm assuming down still. -The Wannabe Subaru Master Tech
  5. Same boat as my 07, my 08 spec b even with mods and exact map still not the same.
  6. Hey was in need of a cobb airbox, the pervious owner bought the intake but idk why he didn't get the box, I did some research it fits a 08-14 sti 05-09 legacy & 09-13 FXT.
  7. I live in jersey, are you able to move on price, actually I need some rims for my 07 to put on my 08, as 08 rims are FUGLY on spec b's.
  8. You' re better off getting a double din fascia for $60, I have 07 spec b and 08 spec b radios, I bought a 05/06 legacy OEM radio for $25, you slice the circuit board to retain original OEM dual ac controls instead of paying 300 for plastic plus a head unit. You, unfortunately, have to be handy with a soldering iron, but there is a great pdf writeup someone posted on here I'll see if I can find the link. It involves some ingenuity, especially destroying the circuit board leads and repairing them. Even if inexperienced, with a voltmeter and time you can get it done. Just don't attempt with an own 07 or later as they changed the boards most likely to accommodate satellite radio and aux(assumption), still, need aftermarket device to retain steering controls and unsure how the Navi fares I'm assuming it still works. This post was old, but seems doable, is I can't find the original, I'll put up their write-up.
  9. 50k is just past middle of the road on struts, couple that with performance.....
  10. I'm looking for a JDM Dual Zone Auto Climate control for a 05-09 Legacy, I stupidly bought the plastic piece not realizing that most sets already came with the controls.
  11. thanks, i need a cheap one its for my 07 spec b which was in a accident, lower arm was mangled, minus body work, engine still runs, dont know what to do with it, rebuilt engine with paperwork with 200 or less miles...
  12. I had tracked down a lower control arm for my 07 spec B. drove 3 hrs to get it go to replace it realize, the bushing is completely different, although the control arms look identical the bushing is a lot larger and has a protruding piece, where as the original spec b is flat...Is there any way to make this work? Possibly replace the stud bolt in the vehicles body? I contacted the people whom, I purchased it from, which says 08 spec b on the bottom, I was perplexed until i saw the part number on the bushing which shows up as 2015-2020 wrx, sti a few others it is 20204VA000 the bushing.
  13. I'm looking for a passenger side lower control arm for a 2007 Legacy spec b USDM , the only control arms made by Subaru that are all aluminium. Also does anyone know if I can swap in a control arm from a 05-09 Legacy GT?
  14. Fishbone do u lack reading comprehension skills. I have an 08 with a stock turbo, I also have an 07 with a later model sti which was tuned by a pro. I'd like to know if there are subtle differences in settings in the ECU, although they are a year a apart Subaru changed a few things and I can't just swap ecu? Correct?
  15. The "sti turbo" was tuned by a very popular runer in NJ with a stock exhaust and Cobb intake no other mods and had 300 at the wheels..........
  16. This spec b has a stock two I own two
  17. I Know rich I talked to him for quite a while while I was told I can get u an engine for your spec b in 2 weeks tops, 6 weeks later I pick it up 20 min down the road, CEL, I clear it this is a sat so not open until Tues, I must have gotten 3-5 more cels before I take it there. I'd like to have him tune my 08, no communication after paying a lot of money up front calling and not getting calls back. Maybe he's always busy and he's a great guy who knows his shit really knows. But my experience has left a bad taste in my mouth and NJ is full of Subaru tuners. I spent 180 on a tactrix, sell cobb for IDC $100 I didn't buy it. Pull maps compare, if no major differences slap the turbo on and I'm back to making 315 at the wheels, Instead of what maybe 10% over stock? Do u know how much it sucks to be with ur daily driver for 6 weeks having no idea what's going on, paying for rentals oirnof ur pocket so u can get to work. I don't even want to add it all together cause it will. Make me sick. Get it back didn't touch turbo cel, I just paid this insane ammount of money and I cel 20mins later? Come on **Nothing against Rich he is probably the most intelligent person I've had the pleasure to talk Subaru with, there all I ever owned from Impreza to rs, did all my own work was fortunate to have a stepbrother inlaw who was a Subaru Mechanic. I asked Rich about this mod and that mod no you don't want to do it because, most people won't turn money away. He is straight with u, and I'm not blaming him because one of his workers "handled" my job. So yeah I know Rich very well.
  18. Enlighten me? Can you flash 07 map written to a 07 ecu and redlash this map or rom if you will safely to an 08, as there are subtle differences with the spec b, mostly minor. Have you have ran into a spec b IRL , let anyone even owned one? If not an an actual Tech, your input is useless. What part of my question makes me sound like I. Don't know what I'm talking about. Ok, I'm lazy I don't feel like taking the heat shield off the turbo and I'd be able to positively identify it. I was hoping there would be a quick way find out, I'm almost certain it's a VF-52. Or stictly because of bashing the Cobb fanboys?
  19. I bought an 07 Spec B with pinks, idk if they were on for a while the df sagged and car sat wayyyy tooo low, i didnt think much of them as the struts were shot anyway.
  20. IN NJ how many miles on em, oh nvr mind, thats basicly what I have now, what did u change to?
  21. I have the Vag-Com cable pretty sure it says can on the bottom, as it works with Rom Raider logging flawlessly on my 08 Spec B, I wanted pull the image off my 07 Spec B ecu and flash my 08? Is this do able, its a custom tune as far as compatibility? I haven't been able to pull the image, but also I never messed with green test plug, which Is why I get no response when I try to pull the rom. Or should I just get the tactrix to be safe. Currently have a cobb V2, no pull, boost flutter and over boost, offers limited maps and garbage in my opinion, the 07 with the turbo stock exhaust and cobb intake had 300 at the wheels and when you hit that switch it moved. Id like to swap the turbos, and use the imaage from the 07 ecu, cant swap ecu becuase of immobilizer and I can but dont want to mess with the TPMS.
  22. Had a 2007 spec b taken to a tuner with a turbo off a 12-14 sti, stock exhaust cobb intake 300 at the wheels. Have a 2007 spec b with cat back, cobb intake accessport V2 gains are laughable, in addition to turbo flutter/overboost, and lack of maps, Im selling it too gimmickicky, I have a decent obd scanner and can rom raid if needed. otherwise I have the important gauges. I highly DO NOT reccomend an accessport, see a tuner. Cobb's maps are generic becase who knows what an persons mods are?
  23. I purchased my second Spec B, needs suspension work, I feel like this is a stpid question, the car will never see the track, but I do like to get on it from time to time, not just down the highway. So I stick with the B6 bilsteins? Bought mediocre sway bar links and ball joints, bushings should I go with aftermarket or stock, whats the difference does after market last longer or is there a noticable difference. Also have a cob V2 tuner Im getting rid cause its garbage. Limted maps with almost unnoticle gains. My 2007 Spec b had im not sure what size but a turbo off of a 12-14 sti, stock pipe and cobb intake and it mooved. I'd like to image the 2007 ecu and (talk to the tuners) slap this tubro on with my cat back. The 08 stock turbo with the horrible cobb tunes are no pull, overboost and flutter, even at lower rpms. I know about the smaller than normal wastegate passage, but honestly to have a selection of a few maps for 650 is dumb. Im going open source.
