Things like the "Thanks" button were also part of the reason the site slowed down so much, all these things were third party hacks.

I guess that answers my the other issue I thought I was having.

We are planning to move the site to Invision Power Board (hosted) and expect a whole new site to resolve many longstanding issues.

Then we'll have plenty of new problems.

Actually on Friday, but had the brakes done, and had them look at the clutch to see if there might be a mechanical reason why it sometimes has an issue when shifting. I think the issue might be the driver though...

Also found out some incredibly sad news that to me impacts the whole Subaru community in the Seattle/Tacoma area.

So I'm wanting to get the JDM folding mirrors, and I really prefer the prefacelift style, so I was wondering if they fit without any major issues?

I also recommend the STI swap. I don't really notice it turning better, but I do have to make a U Turn on the way to work, and with the old specB rack it usually ended up being a 3 point turn, but with the STI rack I can make it a regular U Turn with space to spare.

I kept the specB pump and didn't need to switch to the STI power steering pump.

You might wanna consider replacing the O Ring on the top of the pump at this point since it's probably baked and if it isn't already leaking, it's gonna start leaking soon.

No Subaru just dropped the ball about 10 years ago now, the STi has gone nowhere, perhaps it didn't need to as it had no competition.

 

Subaru just gave up.

Much like when James Dean died, many said that we lost the two best actors of the generation.

So I think that when Mitsubishi killed off the Evo, that left Subaru with no real reason to continue the STi. And you could see in the last few generations of the STi. The car was getting soft, and it should have stayed a fighter.

Did the quarterly oil change a week late as I forgot to get a filter last week. D'oh!

After getting the steering rack replaced it was nice to see the undercarriage was all dry, rather than having a bit of coating of fluid.

Morimotos installed!

It would be nice if there was a hole, in the splash guard, that lined up with the alignment screw so that you don't have to deal with pushing it out of the way to align the lights, but overall it's a fairly easy install to do.

I took plenty of pictures so I'll try to write something up that will hopefully save people down the line from some of the annoyances.

And as usual, I list what I do a day late, but did the oil change when it's 30 degrees out. Which would be great if I was in Canada!

Yesterday the steering rack was replaced, and they noticed a ball joint was only held in by the car holding it in the control arm. So that was replaced with the rack.

The following alignment has everything with in spec!

With the weather we have, I haven't been able to notice the quicker steering, but the steering is definitely stiffer, as a new rack would be.

A comment from solidsnake from another thread about the 120 vs 121.

The 2015+ rack fits fine on a spec.B (same as the regular LGT). The part number for the new rack was superseded in 2019, but I think they're effectively the same. Not sure about the 2020. I've fit both 34110VA120 and 34110VA121 on my '07 spec.B.

I just recently installed a new rack with P/N 34110VA121 and it went in perfectly. Used the thinner jam nuts and didn't have to trim any threads (using the WL bump-steer tie-rod ends). Alignment on my setup was no issue for the alignment shop (-1.2° camber). Only thing I can guess/hope is they revised it to fix the known issue of these leaking relatively quickly near the input shaft

It looks like 34110VA120 has been replaced with 34110VA121.

Does anyone know if it's very different or should it be ok to go ahead and use?

Did it a bit earlier, but ordered the Morimoto XB X Foglights and LaminX covers to add to the pile of front end parts to install during my upcoming vacation.
