  1. Soo is there an idea for us sedan owners? Or am I the only one in this with a sedan???
  2. That would be a good idea.. not to mention more people means more experience!
  3. @Pleidesyou think I'm hearing normal noise just amplified by worn bushings? Would make sense since the noise has gotten worse in the year, not to mention sitting as a weekend car for about 3 months..
  4. state - cape cod, Mass. I'd be willing to make a weekend trip as I work to damn much... lol. With enough notice I can make plans.
  5. @xt2005bonbonI'm getting a grumbly/growl type of sound on decel and off throttle coast in 1st and 2nd. No gear whine or anything. @Pleidesstock high mileage bushings! Nothing fancy yet.
  6. Here we are a year later.. As of now everything is still good, though a noise that I thought was minor is getting slightly worse. Seems like front diff bearings. The only changes I would do at this point is a short throw shifter and the mods down below on the trans itself. Still no major issues, and would do this again and again. Thanx everyone for input and following along on this journey.
  7. Replaced cyl.4 ignition coil. I've been dealing with a Phantom mis fire that the computer/AP wasn't picking up. Well yesterday, after a very spirited launch and run down the road with the mis firing happening the CEL and cruise FINALLY started blinking! Made it to the store, did the self diag and got P0304. Now that's been taken care of, I'm now back carefree throttle use, entire RPM band use and of course, the typical tomfoolery we all do...
  8. Has anyone experienced not being able to log in or even see the page/forum? Anywho... changed my oil, approximately 1400 over due. I now see an oil leak above the passenger side of the steering rack and an occasional wiff of oil. I literally just jinx myself with the thought of not needing ANY repairs this year other than new tires.
  9. @Infosecdadare you talking about the shift lever/plate down on the trans?
  10. Going through the LGT today. It's being brought back to daily status. GF got into a light fender bender. Giving her my gas sipper daily till things are all set on her end. Really can't complain though, I miss driving this thing regularly!
  11. Nothing like getting a flat before heading out to work to humble one's speed on the highway! Atleast now I have 1 wheel off the car, time to swap the snows on..
  12. I honestly didn't think to check ebay... I figured it would be a dealer only part! Thanx!
  13. A 2003 Chevy Cavalier coupe! 2.2L ecotec, 5mt! Crank windows and all! No options except for rear defrost and power trunk release. It's hard to argue with 30+ mpg on 87 octane!
  14. As weird as this sounds.. I miss driving my GT. A 100hp, 6th gear, and AWD difference is ALOT! I have a wedding to go to this weekend and decided to drive the car to knock the rust off the brakes and give it some good attention. Come to find out, my rear backing plates are returning to earth via natural selection.. joy! Are these available at all???
  15. I stared at my instrument cluster... Now that the car has been relegated to weekend warrior duty, I've been noticing small things. One of those things was the needles for the speedo and tach. Someone in one of the FB subaru groups I'm in said that they aren't centered. I laughed and thought that was nuts. They weren't wrong and it now catches my attention everytime I look down. I swear, some people just want to watch the world burn..
  16. That 6mt is just as good as the current 5mt in the car. They handle the same power, and from what I've read, fail the same too! The absolute advantage is that 6th gear for better hwy cruising. That vagueness you talk about, I have none of those issues. I know exactly which gear I'm in and which one I'm heading to next. Yes, it doesn't feel like a Springfield, but it definitely guides you to the next gear.
  17. No worries. Literally a piece of cardboard was my template. Subaru made this real easy.
  18. When you say it randomly drops pressure, is the oil light coming on or is there a legit drop in pressure via a mechanical guage? I'm sorry if I missed it earlier.
  19. The holes you drill won't be visible at all, nor would it effect/affect the car in any manner. AFAIK, this is an update from our 4th gen LGT/08-14 WRX transmission. I've also heard next to nill about VA guys making decent power and losing a transmission.
  20. Can you see this reply? If so, the same thread is over on NASIOC as well.
  21. That's definitely not a 215k mile head.. probably 15k at most. But you know as they say, the more you dig...
  22. It takes me a few hours to do it. So far the best method I've learned to date was to use a plug socket with a 1.5" extension. Then have your ratchet with another 1.5" extension. Set the socket/extension into the plug tube, take ratchet and other extension and just set it in the socket/extension setup. Don't lock them in place, and loosen them that way. It's a PITA. And of course tightening is the opposite...
