  1. Are they the same part number from factory? Are there different rebuild kits? It just doesnt make sense. I've talked to the dealer about remans for my GT and it was never an issue - most of them drive turbos and have replaced axles without problem. Then again i've read about green and gold nuts for axles and that they have different torque values, but the dealer had never heard of that - any truth to that? Maybe that has something to do with this turbo/non-turbo axle conundrum?
  2. My dealer has no problem selling me remans for a GT. I will have to ask about this next time im in there. I like rebuilding as well, however isnt re-man 'supposed' to be an even better rebuild? Saving time is a bonus I wouldnt go non-OEM reman, but aside from doing it yourself if time allows - why is a rebuild less of a crap shoot then reman?
  3. Cheater! For those who dont notice the KM that seems like a solid number Also - how are are you on your motor? If you like the sound of the rev limiter in first gear - not long. If you arent worried about time and take it easy then only time will tell what your engine has left on it. I'm so close to 160,000 mi its annoying. 257,495 in cheatermeters (km).
  4. I guess I've never noticed it before - but that does seem to be what the whine sounded like. While looking for a vid of the clicking, I found this - - My bad, I totally thought this was the "What did you do" thread, not the miles thread. To many "vol" threads.
  5. Here I am excited to roll over 160k here soon, but only 10k of it mine - stock everything but clutch at 137, timing belt at 90 and 153. Lots of work to come to it soon hopefully... Today I turned the key and started it - but it started making a clicking noise in the dash (like a solenoid tripping on and off - I have a crappy video if that would help). Turned it off and it continued to make the noise. Took the key out, put it back in and still made it. Under the hood I could hear a whine like something was being fed power but the engine was not running. Turned on the car, and then played with the heat controls and it stopped. No CEL or pending codes. I also believe something is going out with my clutch. As stated - the 'clutch was replaced'. Not by me, and likely nothing else but what would come in a basic kit. The car has been 'shuddering' when taking off from first and I've really had to focus on driving to have it not do that. But tonight the clutch was well, more like what I expect from a clutch. Couldnt get it to do the shuddering thing even when I tried. Do master/slave cylinders go bad in these? What do I need to do to diagnose this?
  6. What about those of us anti-social media people? Makes sense why this place is so dead... There was no way with all these CO members that meets werent happening.
  7. DO NOT use Firestone in Colorado Springs for an alignment, but really I wouldnt use them to fill my washer fluid. Did a complete hack job on my alignment, would not set it to my requested specs, and then made no effort to compensate me for my time or tire wear they caused. They also said my 2 week old brake fluid needed replaced and they did a similar move to a lady today as well. Do your car a favor and stay far far away from Firestone and Big O in the springs. Anyone have a recommendation on an alignment shop? Everytime I hit "Search this thread" i get kicked to the home page. I'm likely going to go to Jacks Alignment Shop, but thats because they seem to only specialize in alignments and might have a clue.
  8. For those in the springs, I'd recommend Heuberger. Wonderful service, free coffee, fair prices for most service. Parts people are really good too and shockingly good prices for being a stealership! But then again you can get free coffee. They did my valve covers, timing belt, steel brake lines, and soon to do a steel clutch.
  9. I found that really odd that there was not an inline fuel filter on subies. Is replacing the valve a viable repair if youre unsure of the previous maintenance? On top of then keeping up on maintenance of course. Or could that open a can of worms?
  10. Seriously? This is something that my mechanic was talking about, but never said anything about adjusting valves. I also just had my valve cover gaskets replaced which would have been a GREAT time to do this and know that im in spec. I was told it was always the same cylinder and after I start seeing a misfire then its getting ready to go out and just save for a new block.
  11. Yea, Im starting to know almost everyone at Heuberger, as they are me. I normally do all of my own work, but dont have time and want it done before I head to Vegas.
  12. I guess I'll join the club. #Notmymiles, but I plan to match what it has if the engine will hold. Third owner that im aware of. MY05 LGT 5MT Currently 153,XXXmi, Purchased about 1500mi ago. Stage 0.0. Yes, bone stock. Banjo Screens still in, for now. Im undecided if I want to go up in stages or not. Timing belt replaced at 66,XXXmi, and it just went in the shop today for another. Clutch replaced at 137,XXXmi. A week ago it went in for Airbag Recall and Brake Corrosion Spray recall as well as a brake flush and steel lines. Along with the timing belt it will be getting a steel clutch line and the valve cover gasket replaced. First owner had an OCI of 5-6k on M1 synthetic, second said 3500 on M1, I've done one change with T6. And even though the first owner was a mechanic, and owns his own shop - that was the extent of the maintenance records. So needless to say - its time to replace some things - new plugs, bushings, suspension, fluids flush - all that good stuff. So far the brake parts are ordered, Centric everything - Rotors, pads, hardware, just not calipers. Waiting until next year to get a JDM set. Going to get all that installed just in time to add some miles on my trip out to Vegas!
