  1. Bumping this to share my results from XRT tuning so far. Surprised and very pleased with the power I'm putting down already, wasn't honestly expecting this high yet. This is from a 3rd gear pull. Very pleased with how the car feels currently. This is only my v1 revision. The car pushes my neck back off the line, and the pedal is much more responsive, and I feel like I have more available power throughout the gears. Ed also gave me stage 2 transmission tuning, which has tightened up gear response immensely. Only power mods so far are AEM Dryflow filter and Nameless 5" Axleback. http://www.xtremeracingtuning.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=698&sid=6f2546cf785d2fac5c6db6d7b992eac9 http://i.imgur.com/00l4mzz.png
  2. It's definitely loud, and definitely unnerving, and it definitely does it without ice in there. It seems to be a common thing in cold-climate 5th gens though. I wonder if it's common enough to warrant a TSB?
  3. When it's super cold out, mine does it too even when the car is completely dry and there's no ice anywhere to be found. It only does it once whenever I set off, and seems to not do it as often or as loud if I defrost the rear window for louder. It's something shifting/creaking/cracking in either the seal or the adhesive around the bottom of the window. There's actually a big thread on the Facebook 5th gen group about this exact same thing right now, and about 10-15 people from various chilly climates corroborating this happening to them.
  4. This could not be stated better. Treasure trove of information that has bettered the state of our niche community. Thanks for everything you do man. Also, I'm so invested in this now haha. I WANT WHIT TO HAVE HIS KONIS.
  5. Sounds like the only option for the future going forward may be GTesaer's proposed modification and usage of the updated WRX Koni system.
  6. Just Pm'd you a list of other listings that you should be able to find a way to contact directly to confirm stock. I know how frustrating it can be to try and source a discontinued part. I ran into that with the HKS funnel and the wheels I wanted to buy. It's a disheartening pain in the ass. Also, you can click that seller on the Amazon listing and there's an "Ask a question" button. Might be able to get some straight answer using that if all else fails.
  7. Try this Amazon listing as a last ditch. Price is higher but they specifically show 12 in stock. https://www.amazon.com/Koni-8610-1453Sport-Subaru-Impreza/dp/B009EPQLDC?th=1
  8. There literally isn't a garage. It's a parking lot that surrounds one side of 3 8-16 unit buildings lol.
  9. No, I live in an apartment/condo and my car lives in a parking lot.
  10. Post what you find for this, would definitely be interested in a cover of some sort. Chicago loooooves salt.
  11. A good number of places seem to still show them in stock/purchasable. Try googling the part number by itself "8610 1453" and you should get a number of hits.
  12. Yeah, add to the fact that a lot of the sites that sell them show full assembly stock photos like this. I was surprised with how the rears looked until I found the spring perch in the box haha.
  13. Also, I got my rear Koni's in the other day, so I have just about everything I need except the donors and the top hats. Can't wait for springtime to get this put on. http://i.imgur.com/A88OBUe.png
  14. Chiming in to share the part numbers for the KYB donors in case you go that route. They're very affordable at only $61.79 each. Front Right - 339222 : http://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/kyb,339222,strut,7584 Front Left - 339223 : http://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/kyb,339223,strut,7584 Also, if you want to (you may need to), you can replace all the top hats with the KYB ones as well. Obviously will need 2 of each type. 2x Front - SM5361 : http://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/kyb,SM5361,strut+mount,7600 2x Rear - SM5764 : http://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/kyb,SM5764,strut+mount,7600
  15. My company president bought a brand new Audi S8 earlier this year (bought the dang thing outright). Such a beautiful car, but the craziest thing is that the price difference between the S7 and the S8 is just about the yearly pay for what could've been another employee for my under-staffed department.
  16. Here's the real life kit (they offered a curved or a flat spoiler option, I think the one in that drawing is just that: a drawing. Although it looks similar to the rear spoiler for the Gialla Corsa kit). And yes, EXCEEDINGLY expensive, not even factoring in shipping from Japan/painting/fitting. You could easily spend $10k+ all said and done. http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/@0_mall/outletyatoh/cabinet/tommykaira/1s003x30-1.jpg http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/@0_mall/jackethouse/cabinet/product_785/348760292907501.jpg http://thumbnail.image.rakuten.co.jp/@0_mall/outletyatoh/cabinet/tommykaira/1s001p60-1.jpg It is damn beautiful though. Here's a walk around video of a different variant of that kit:

  18. Just wanted to drop by mention that I joined XRT last night. I will be logging and such once my Tactrix arrives and the weather warms up a bit (Chicago winters ugh). Not going to be anything new or ground-breaking, but I'm excited to contribute where I can.
  19. User Sm000Vemove on here (might be different number of 0's) also has this diffuser and has video about it. Mentions the same: lots of modification to make it work.
  20. I should've posted this in here rather than Random Thoughts, but the famous Amuse Carbon R is currently up for sale. Someone on here should make that their next car haha. https://racecarsdirect.com/Advert/Details/76071/new-price-the-famouse-amuse-carbon-r34
  21. On the topic of Audi S4's and fast wagons, I saw an very nice looking S4 wagon on the highway this morning zipping along at about 90 mph. It was this style/model year here: http://1-photos.ebizautos.com/used-2001-audi-s4-5drwgnavantquattroawdman-7437-6009297-1-640.jpg I'm not too familiar with the lineage of Audi's, so I looked it up, and that model ran from 1997-2002! That blew me away, because I don't think of this car as old whatsoever when I lay my eyes on it, but it's at almost 20 years old at this point! Crazy to think about, and makes me mourn the loss of quick wagons ever harder.
  22. Quick note, you should link this thread in the Interior Mods sticky if you haven't already. I think this definitely qualifies as an interior mod haha.
  23. Dude this is awesome! Was wondering what DIY you hinted to in the FB group. Thanks for the write up, definitely keep up updated with the bottom as well!
  24. A new raised trunk spoiler option has been found by forum user testa422 (he doesn't come on here much so I figured I'd post it). It's a similar design to the one in the previous post, but is only one piece (no bottom piece) and a bit of a taller design. Looks to be about halfway in between the above spoiler and your typical STI-style spoiler in height. Also has a 4th brake light as well. This is currently the only picture on the listing. I have contacted the seller seeing if they have pictures from other angles. http://i.imgur.com/qpZGdEb.jpg You can either get it painted or unpainted, and both options are very reasonably priced, quite a bit cheaper than the spoiler in the previous post. Also stated to come with mounting hardware, template locator strips, gaskets, and instructions. Unpainted ($84.99): http://www.ebay.com/itm/142204520504 Painted ($136.99): http://www.ebay.com/itm/142204511196
  25. Doesn't seem like Jackal is in the "considering" phase much anymore.
