  1. Battery is a new Interstate in December of 2018 so it is pretty new. Battery posts and terminals are freshly cleaned and are solid. I looked at the parking brake switch by pulling the ebrake cover off. It is visible but not too accessible. The single screw holding it on can probably be reached with an angle phillips but the mechanism looks so simplistic (on ebay pics) that I do not see how it might fail unless the electrical connector somehow is shorting to ground. I will check the ground cables next/today. I also ordered a simple oscilloscope today to check out the voltage output from the new alternator based on @08SpecB_DE recommendation. I sold my last old school oscilloscope about a year ago because it was never used and I never thought I'd use it again. New and simple ones are very cheaply priced. Thanks guys for the good ideas on what to check on this issue.
  2. Voltage at the alternator reads ~14.7v whenever the light has come on. Replacement is a reman unit from the local oReilly Auto.
  3. Thanks. I figured the switch was in the center console. The battery light went on and off at exactly the same time as the brake light and the ebrake warning display so they are somehow triggered by the same event. I put a new (rebuilt) alternator in about two months ago so I do not think that is the issue.
  4. Where is the ebrake on/off detector switch and the associated wiring harness? I seem to have a random short and it is flashing the warning on the dash to put the ebrake handle down. This is my 09 LGT sedan. This started about a month ago one day on the way home the display warning stayed on the entire drive home (~30 mins). Yesterday on the way home it would flash for a second or two at random intervals minutes apart. This AM on the way to work it also started to flash and at one time it was going on & off several times per second. I noticed this morning that when the warning display came on the battery warning light also illuminated. Here is a picture of the ebrake warning display I am describing. To get this picture safely I pulled up on the ebrake just a bit and drove very slowly in my cul-de-sac where there was nobody else around.
  5. I've already replaced the entire overhead console with two other known good ones so that is not the issue. I'll start reading in the FSM on the next troubleshooting steps. Thanks.
  6. Tried again reading the airbag codes and got a "26 Passenger's Airbag indicator failure" and "72 Passenger's Airbag failure". Not sure what this means or what to try next...
  7. My son and I are going to do the spark plugs on my 09 GT tomorrow. I got the NGK Iridium plugs. Do the wires and plugs come out without moving the engine from side to side with the two engine mounts unbolted? I have 68k and I am sure it has the original plugs. Runs fine but idles less smooth than when I bought it at 36k.
  8. Thanks guys. I knew that OEM calls for the NGK plugs and I generally prefer NGK whenever that is an available option. I just did not know if there was possibly a better option out there. I'll go with the NGK plugs.
  9. Searched but not found... Which are the correct or *recommended* spark plugs? Both of my Legacys need them replaced. Both are stock no mods. 09 Legacy 2.5 GT 08 Legacy 2.5i
  10. I am not aware of any phone app that will read the SRS or ABS codes. The Ancel AD610 Elite code reader is what I bought that is capable to do so. It wasn't all that expensive.
  11. 2008 2.5i Limited here. Still, the airbag light is on. Subaru dealer told me a while ago when the pass airbag was replaced that the issue was the overhead console. Resoldering it made no difference. I bought the Ancel 610 diagnostic tool which can read the SRS and ABS systems in the car. No codes - it says airbag system OK. This is the car my daughter drives. in December she rear ended a ford focus and it bent the hood up and destroyed the grille, bumper, the bumper crossbar, and the radiator. It is repaired now but airbag light remains. I am unsure if the collision should have triggered the airbags or not. Both front occupants were fine no issue so maybe it was not enough to trigger it. I just replaced the overhead console with a new one and no diff the light is still on. Reason for me still asking on the airbag light is because this is the car my daughter drives and we want to make sure the airbag system is working properly in case it is needed. Unsure what to try next...
  12. 2008 Legacy 2.5i here. Airbag light on for quite a while now. I bought the Ancel AD610 Elite code reader which is supposed to read ABS/SRS codes. It shows no issues/codes. Unsure what the best route to getting it fixed now is. My son can take it to his work (Subaru dealer) to get it scanned I suppose but trying to minimize cost on an 11 yr old vehicle. Thoughts?
  13. As far as I can tell yes it is on the stock springs and struts. My son was telling me he would have them set it at -0.5* camber on the front.
  14. My 2009 Legacy GT is likely to need an alignment and I am looking for camber setting feedback. I bought the car in the later half of 2016 and it has been pretty much zero maintenance since then except for of course oil/fluid/filter changes and such. It has always looked like it has a bit of negative camber on the front wheels. I and my son have noticed this. The prior owner must have had a bit of a performance thought in them since the car has an aftermarket rear sway bar and a Grimmspeed brake cylinder brace. Maybe they had tuned the camber for best performance??? Bringing it to the shop tomorrow since it has been 2+ years w/o alignment and my son and I had the right knuckle apart to replace the inner CV boot today. Any recommendations for setting or threads on camber settings?
  15. I am thinking about the same thing - up above the mirror. Can the antenna be stuck under where the black edging is along the top middle? Unsure how to best describe it - the black area above mirror that looks like a bunch of small dots. I know the antenna connector is there under the radio / center console but I am unsure where it runs to. Likely the other end is up by the mirror somewhere - ?
  16. I just purchased the factory sat receiver unit for my 2009 GT sedan. Looking for the antenna now. I've read about placing the antenna in the rear under the third brake light housing but from underneath I do not see any access. Does it fit between the rear deck and the plastic housing or am I missing something else?
  17. Nice. I am partial as well to the SWP since that is what I have. Not a SpecB though since I wanted an automatic. Bought this car one year ago with 36K on the odometer. One year and 20K miles later I can say this is the most trouble free vehicle I have ever owned. Edit - not sure why the picture is sideways. Even if I edit/rotate and re-upload it still wants to be sideways.
  18. If you can get the fitting loose on the junction block then it should be relatively straight forward to cut, flare, and splice it together on the brake line under the rear seat. One can get the flare tool and a cheap brake line bending tool at the auto parts store along with a new section of brake line. I'll have to check this on my three Legacys to see what condition they are in currently.
  19. Looking for a pair of tan front door panels left & right for an 09 Outback.
  20. I tried the solder fix on my 08 2.5i but no change. I agree with the above if the LEDs in the overhead console are dim then this is the easy fix to resolder them. Mine all of the lights appeared to function properly. What SRS scan tool(s) have people been using to diagnose this type of issue?
  21. Do you have the production numbers for the non spec-b GTs? Mine is a 2009 GT Limited in SWP.
  22. OK, this the new to me Satin White 09 GT. Picked it up in Sept of this year with 36K miles. Appears to be pretty much stock except for the HID headlamps and and a GrimmSpeed brake cylinder brace. Sometimes I wonder if the prior owner might have been a registered user on the forum here.
