It has been a while. I got the Wagon out for the season last week and took it to Lime Rock for the holiday weekend. I kinda regret not putting my car in the car show on Sunday, the wagon presence out of easily 100 cars was only held by one 60's (likely) era Volvo. I have some stuff in the works. Monday I found myself in front of a white pearl outback xt while gassing up at a BJ's in Hudson MA...wagon game respect wagon game, you on here?

Month Project tunred Winter Project
jaylew replied to jaylew's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Thanks for reading! So a few things I wish I did different, would be maybe not truck bed line the underside. I definitely would do a more in depth job of touching up what little surface rust points the car had underside if I were tackling it now (Think Redish motor sports). I also would have routed the brake lines to not the stock routing. I like the idea of sending the driver side line under the rear seat then down on the driver side instead of totally outside the car. I do need to go back and clean up the mating surfaces of the wheel bearings to knuckles or trailing arms (i painted them but definitely need it to be bare metal with anti-seize or something) As for the wheel arch, it really depends on severity. I haven't checked it for life cycle progress. For the smaller patches, that are not seen (like my case) I'd use the panel bond every time, no question. A larger section, the 'proper' way would be to follow 05MNLGT and replace the entire panel. -

Yeah I am definitely interested in seeing a more detailed account of what you were able to come up with! -

Thank you both. It has been a minute since I have been able to do anything to my car. Timing belts on both my daily and my wife's daily plus other work has gotten in the way. I hope in the next 2 weeks to be back under the car, cursing with a smile! Anyway: Airbag. That is a project I haven't touched in a while. I have a new idea to trick the 05 system to work with 06+ passenger seat but that is not high on the priority list. Check out Here and Here. That should give more detailed answer. My temporary solution is definitely a hack but the air bag will still work. As for the dash, A/C. Yes, there are 4 motors. I made a post in this thread with the part numbers here and go with whatever part is superseded, since most of the 05 actuators are no longer available.. There is also good info in this thread. Also was no one going to tell me that I can't spell for my life??? Just now am seeing the misspelling in this thread title:spin: -

Thanks!! There are definitely some regrets to some of the work I did (or lack there of when undercoating) but hey are any of use truly experts? We try our best. I have a an entire USDM facelift bumper, fenders etc waiting to go on. Just need to restore the headlights and remove the amber reflector before hand. A lot of projects have been getting in the way, but the wagon is in the garage now for the winter, so soon I'll be to wrenching on it in my spare time and have more updates. -
Subaru Steering Rack Rebuild
jaylew replied to jaylew's topic in Walkthroughs :: Basic Operation & Maintenance
Best of luck!!! I have been side tracked with the timing belts on both mine and my wife's cars. Then I'll get to route cause why mine is leaking again. I doubt its because of the process but something else. It is just such a simple (kinda) rebuild process -
I've been there before, not a fun job. I had access to my old companies sand blaster they used to clean old solid axles (so massive chamber) but works like a charm with the right media and comes out beautiful

I could be down to meet. Just gotta replace my steering rack..again. There are a few other people active on this forum in the Mass area I'd like to meet or have join.

So who is it that I see every time I mountain bike before work. I pass by your place in Mansfield, and you have a GT sedan and a Spec B. I work just around the corner, we should meet up at lunch or something...unless i am just being creepy

so anyone get kidnapped yet trying to pick this up? I guess if anyone were, they wouldn't be able to respond -
Finally pieced together the cross bars I prefer for the wagon...the whispbar! I bought the adapter kit like a year ago because it popped up on ebay new. Then finally found a vendor that still had the S22 bar kit. Rock solid (far better than using forester cross bars) and though i haven't driven with it yet, I am assuming it is nice and quiet given its shape. Nice little birthday present for the 17 year old car!

Fancy! Thanks for the info!

Yeah I've seen pictures of that before but are they motorized to fold (what if consider power fold) or is it just a remote lever for mechanically folding the seat. Don't ask me why I'm so curious. Likely hood of me buying a seat like that is slim but I'd be lying if I said this hasn't been on my wish list for a while now.

you already know my opinion on the matter...keep. And might I say, that what makes someone 'smart' is just an opinion. What is a smart move for one person is not for another. That being said, getting rid of an awesome wagon is not smart lol -
I'll be quite interested to see the power rear seat. Where is the switch controls for it?
-
wait hold up...rear wagon power fold seats? I know that in markets outside the US, there were wagon rear seats that were recline-able, and had a lever in the trunk to fold them down. Is that feature powered? I figured there'd be springs always pushing the seat backs forward and they were only held upright by the latch

lol to all of this. If it is serious, I am interested. Quick thread jack...Sboarderk03, i've seen a lowered white wagon around the marlborough area, is that you? -
Sedan owners just won't understand the wagon owners sophisticated conversations of how many cubic feet of cheese we can fit in our wagons

I think if we break it down to regions, we might have to open it up to (gulp) a few sedans. But I agree that regions to start would make it easier and then we can jump to something more if we find it necessary. I definitely would like to eventually meet some of you from across the country

Ok 1) this is super exciting! 2) I feel that the more people involved, the easier and more willing I am to bomb threw the night to get to a destination 3) no worries on sleeping accommodations...cause wagon I need to finish reading everyone's comments because damn this blew up quick!
