  1. if such an animal exists as a group buy of new SBs lets go for it! Just passed 265k on what i strongly believe is the original SB Now where is the "getting ready for the meet" thread so I can fire off questions on tiny detail type questions of what to do? @JmP6889928 get ready, cause I'll have a vf40 for your magic to be worked on once I pull it
  2. I have been quite dormant and just skimming this. Thanks to all who have been keeping this going as I have done less than nothing for this. That being said I hope I can have my car ready in time, I have hopes and dreams to gift my wagon a new type RA (or regular 257) SB and refreshed heads for its 20th birthday year.
  3. Didn't get a picture with it fully in the car, but believe me it fit. Everyone at home depot was extra skeptical. Love proving people that wagons are better than SUV's everyday!
  4. Big Shed is almost done... so braveness prevailed. I am sure there will end up being a bumper or something for the GT stored in the rafters of this shed all too soon!
  5. Brave or foolish? I have plans for it that I put together. Motivation has been a combination of "I can build one bigger for cheaper" and to keep the garage as empty of yard tools as possible...the garage is for car stuff
  6. Yeah gotta watch out for fatigue. Might I inquire more about this shed? I only ask because I just placed a lumber order to build my own 10x16 shed this coming weekend. We'll see how well it goes Super bummer to hear this. Any reasonable excuse?
  7. Saw a clean GT sedan today in my town...who was it? Hudson, MA. I was the weirdo in a red jetta wagon admiring the car and whispbars and wishing I was in my GT wagon to also show off my whispbars haha
  8. honestly surprised no one has a picture of their wagon filled with cheese! At least once a month when on random craigslist/FB marketplace deal, I love when I get the almost guaranteed "are you sure that will fit?" Standing Reply "Oh yeah, wagon is life"
  9. Re: brake talk So i have slight shaky front and pulse rear. EBC greens with centric rotors. I do have a few factors though i need to hunt down and here are my thoughts on possibilities...might apply to others 1) I opted to not install the guide pin bushings on the calipers when I did total caliper rebuilds. I did this to see if they were not needed/increase reliability (could be the issue, could not be) 2) the centric rotors are crap? 3) I lightly painted the matting surface on the trailing arms+knuckles between wheel bearing and the trailing arms / knuckles. After installing I realized they are machined clean for a reason (duhhh). For me it comes and goes in severity. Still totally drive-able but not smooth by any measure . It could be one of these items, or combo of all them and stacked tolerances
  10. Is this like an occasional misting type smoke? And is your AC running when this is happening? This happens to me in super humid conditions. I believe that another related symptom is that in the dead of summer (full blast AC) and higher humidity, my condenser will freeze over. Blower still working at full blast, but not a lot of air flow out the vents. I would turn off the AC for about 5 min, and then I would get airflow again. I believe this is either obstructed drain or slightly dirty condenser fins that leads to condensation freezing over. Next time my dash comes out I will take a closer look
  11. So @KZJonny in my 05 I have the P-206UHB head unit (OE subaru in 08/09). This is the Harmon Karden head unit since I wired up the amplifier and speakers for a complete HK stereo that was a factory option in 08/09. The other OE headunits of those years have the same functionality (as long as they have the SAT and AUX button on the input selector). There is a Satellite plug in the back of the head unit where things like Sirius or XM radio modules could be plugged in (if your car has the antenna for those). There does exist a factory iPod interface (H621SXA200). I bought it years ago and love it! It displays song name and other info on the headunit while the iPod is plugged in hidden in the center console. Likely won't work with non apple ipod like device. Anyway I got this ( SUB08B3 ) for bluetooth to my phone for hands free calling mainly and also the easily listen to podcast from my phone etc. So far (1 week review) its been great. Does exactly what I needed and keeps all functionality of the car OE. No blank CD, no excess wires, OE head unit and functionality. It is pricey (which had me holding off for the past year or so to pull the trigger for such a little update) but no complaints so far Side not to all...these cars have fantastic viability compared to modern cars. No Back up camera needed, come at me
  12. No pics, but just installed the GROM bluetooth radio adapter. So far so good. Bluetooth works great, and I have only made one phone call with it so far. We'll see long term how it goes, but definitely a nice upgrade. I am personally (no shade at anyone that disagrees) not a fan of the double din route...it just looks a little out of place IMO. I have the OE iPod adapter for the SAT button and now the GROM module daisy chained. What is interesting is the GROM (though daisy chained through the SAT harness) shows up via the AUX interface on the stereo. So SAT is still iPod (yes i still use an iPod) and then AUX works as both the stock AUX or the GROM. Pretty seamless otherwise
  13. Ok, wow I have a lot to catch up on. Last I checked this was at like 3 pages long! Who knows if I will be in my LGT wagon for the next meet. Not getting rid of it, but might be pulling an @Enlight(car not being ready for the meet). I am getting sick of the oil burning (only been topping it off every fill up for 5 years now) and am in debate of 1) new short block, rebuild heads 2) just rebuild heads and send it 3) keep adding oil. I need to do a compression / leak down to determine if I go straight for the new short block.
  14. While modifications are welcome, I believe that given the age of our cars, if they are able to remain in functioning order and stock, that is a feat!
  15. I'll be out of country then Thanks for the heads up! I'll keep an eye out for next year
  16. @m sprank you still looking? Likely not too far from you but looks like it could be a hooptie (FB link doesn't work since it's in a group)
  17. I made my winter car (VW Jetta TDI wagon) suitable to car camp so I could chase POW on a whim and need no hotel reservation. Might have to make similar accommodations for the LGT but for the next meet
  18. oh it'd be dope to spectate pikes peak! I am hoping Mt Washington in NH does another hill climb soon since that is way closer to me haha
  19. NE or NY sounds good to me! @boxkita thanks for already getting this rolling
  20. Before I forget, here is the link to Eastern Beaver, where i sourced my connectors and pins that are directly plug and play with a lot of our OE harness connectors. https://easternbeaver.com/Main/Elec__Products/Connectors/connectors.html I use the TS040, SWP, TS090 pins and connectors housings. The pins are plug and play with most of our car's plugs if you want to repin existing harness and eliminates having to solder pigtails! The website also has crimpers. This is a nugget of a supplier out of Japan.
  21. Upgraded the tool box with a beautiful sticker! Fits like a glove!
  22. @KZJonny My dad and I thoroughly enjoyed the crowler of 'Pure' sunday evening!
  23. Tail light preference be damned...I need to keep inside thoughts inside! Style your car however you like!
