Is it still possible to get this head unit anymore? I've tried searching some of the parts sites for the part# given in this thread, but haven't been able to find a listing any where.

Just to let everyone know. Tristan said there were only five of these radios left in the states and he had a hard time getting one for me. He told me it may be the last new one anyone can purchase. Now there are 4 left.

The reason seems to be they need them for warranty repairs and such.

It doesnt seem like they are making them anymore.

While I appreciate you trying to help, it really doesn't:

    1) That post you quoted is from 6 months ago, so I was hoping to, ya know, get some updated, recent info.

    2) Who the hell is Tristan, and why would I care what one person has to say? Is he the North American Czar of Audio for Subaru of America (NACASA)? Because Bob told me that there was a Raiders of the Lost Ark sized warehouse full of them just waiting for homes.

    :)

Wow what a post from a Newb... Your sarcasm must reflect the disappointing news.

Sorry I had to break it to ya.

Tristan is a Subaru Parts man at www.thekingofparts.com and they sell a lot of parts. He may not be the Czar but he is the KING OF PRICING.

Oh and more bad news for you looks like thekingofparts is off line for some reason.

So with that said, I dont know who Bob is either but when he gives you clearance into AREA 51 and you find the Radios (as well as the ark) let us know. ;)

  3. Well, that apparently does not help, since there are 3 character long alphanumeric codes for dualtonies. If you pm me your VIN I should be able to find out.

    3M6 only 200 interesting.

Is that 3 digit code the interior color code or the exterior?

Below are my exterior paint codes so I would think that its an interior code

    Exterior Paint codes are

    Atlantic Blue=33A

    Granite Gray Opal=35S

  4. Went to radio shack to see if they had any Antennas and I found that they have a new Sirius antenna that magnet mounts on the outside of the car. Took it home and it plugged right into the Subaru Sirius Tuner.

Ran the wire from the middle front of the windshield, around toward the passenger side in the window rubber using the handle end of a teaspoon and a dental pick. Went down by where the hood, door and fender meet and into the door area following the wires from the door into the car. Went behind the glove box area (remove as if putting in cabin filter) and then behind the radio. The radio shack antenna plugged right in.

The subarus use a PINK FAKRA plastic connector which surrounds an SMB. This radio shack antenna will fit inside the pink FAKRA housing and right into the SMB on the subaru sirius tuner without any modifications.

Use this Radio Shack Antenna if you do not have the pink FAKRA cable from the map lights down to the radio area because your car is pre 2007.

    Worked Perfect. :spin:

  5. Greg,

Yes. I posted picure's of this part in post #81 of this very thread. Very cool to see that someone has created a connector for it (or one that may work anyway) and the stereo. That was the big hurdle in my mind for getting this to work. I was just going to have a stereo shop make the connection (because I'm a complete electronics noob). Then when the iPod Integration kit came out I ended up selling my aux box as all I wanted to do was be able to connect an iPod.

If there is an inexpensive and plug-n-play solution I may end up adding this as well just in case!

As for the SRS WOW...I'm not really that impressed. Seems a bit like overkill to me. I've got the OEM subwoofer under my front seat and I've tried the SRS WOW a couple times but just can't seem to get it to my liking. It sends too much bass through the front door speakers for me. I can see that if you don't have a sub how it can be a major improvement though.

    Cheers!

    -Ian

I actually have the front sub.

  6. I got my new radio in today. I'll confirm what ckrausgri posted, part number 86201AG67A includes the face plate and internal head unit. It's all you need. I got mine from subarugenuineparts.com for $431.67.

FWIW, I also ordered part number 86257XA10A ($14.25). It's a small box with a six pin adapter and small headphone jack.

Are the male plugs for this six pin easy to come by? :spin:

I'll let you know how the install goes. I'm taking it to a small local stereo shop as I'm not experienced enough to do this myself. As I've mentioned I'm going to have them run the wires for the steering wheel with audio controls (that I'm going to purchase in the near future) as well.

    Cheers!

    -Ian

    Ian

Is this the correct part number 86257XA10A for the aux in that is inside the console storage bin right next to the power plug?

Anyone mounted it yet in the console storage bin?

  7. Thanks Ian,

The SRS WOW feature is just like they call it WOW!!!!

Major difference from the other radio.

Now I want to get the aux in working and the sirius satellite. Next on the list.

If anyone wants to know as well, The king of Parts is GREAT to work with!!!!!

Tristan has been helping me alot, and so far they have beat EVERYONE'S prices.

  8. I got my 2007 spec b radio installed in my 2005 today, works great. Look for the thread I started asking for the manual as someone posted it if you need it.

One thing I noticed with the radio. On the display for both the heater and the radio you can really see the red trace lines in the background alot more than you could on my 2005 radio.

When the radio is off but the car is on you can see them pretty good especially if it is night time.

    Anyone else notice this?

  9. Just to let everyone know. Tristan said there were only five of these radios left in the states and he had a hard time getting one for me. He told me it may be the last new one anyone can purchase. Now there are 4 left.

It doesnt seem like they are making them anymore.

One other question, does anyone know if the spec B radio part number is the same for the 2007 GT?

Just wondering if there is an alternative.

  10. In this thread on adding Sirius to the 2007 Head unit, I have a question. Here is my post from that thread.

Just trying to find out if the 2005 legacy has the Sirius antenna wire already there in the headliner.

    3) Pull down gently on the roof liner. It may make a noise but thats ok. Fish the pink antenna connector thru and connect to the pink connector in the driver's side headliner.

    4) Mount antenna to windshield either in the corner or by the rearview mirror. (I went rearview)

    5) Push headliner back into place and reinstall the lights and the two screws and the cover.

The pink wire you are talking about in the drivers side headliner, was it already there?

In the install instructions it looks as though it is, and I am not sure if the 2005 Legacy's have this wire preinstalled in the headliner.

Anyone done this on a 2005 Legacy? goneskiian?

  11. Just do the Upgrades to the stock brakes you have as in this thread.

    http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38676&page=5

05+ LGT Front and Rear Calipers, <---YOU HAVE THESE ALREADY OBVIOUSLY

DBA 4000 Brake Rotors for 05+ LGT's Front and Rear (The rear is vented now.)

EBC Yellow Stuff Pads for 05+ LGT's Front and Rear

Stainless lines for 05+ LGT Front and Rear

    ATE Super Blue DOT4 Fluid.

Brembos are a little overkill arent they? I would love to have them but around 3000 just for the brakes let alone wheel expense...

  12. Well elders and nUbs, yes I searched. I came across a myriad of threads of "does this fit under x" and "will my YYY wheels clear that." However, there is no compendium of such data that I can find.

I ask because yes, I'm looking at a BBK purchase that will clear my Shrek wheels. Gonna go with AP or Stoptech/Cobb 4-pots on all fours probably.

Note: I've seen a couple of us running Endless setups but no comments or reviews. I'd like to get some opinions of these too if possible.

    Sublo

Correct me if I am wrong but...

How will you get them to fit under your spec wheels? They are only 7 inches wide correct? 18x7 I think

You need at least a 7.5 or 8 inch width rim for them according to king of parts.

I guess you can use a spacer.

    Greg
