  1. Alright, I have a Uhaul car carrier(flatbed)/pickup truck set to go for this Saturday. I will be hauling the ole girl to my mom/step dads to get this fun started.

Islandborn (or anyone with experience) how did your rockers and lifters look when you did your rebuilds? Need to replace any/all?

Ej25 doesn't have either of those. Lobes from the cam ride on the buckets to open the valves. Definitely want to double check your clearance when you torque everything back down and you may need to replace buckets to get the right clearance.

  2. do you use a bracket or aftermarket harness for the horns, or just cut and splice for the connections and stock mounting brackets? Can the harness/pigtail be removed from the OEM horns and attached to the aftermarket horns? I am considering these, but wasn't sure what was the best mounting (I know there are brackets available for the WRX, but wasn't sure for the legacy)

Made my own bracket from a steel tie from home depot. Little bit of primer and rattle can flat black. Not the best picture6

Wired it myself. Just used the relay that came with the horns. Fused 12V from battery, signal from factory horn wire, and a ground for the relay. It's not super neat in a loom but it's not a rats nest either. There are guides on wiring them up.

  3. We don't have a pitch stop mount.

That's the correct tranny mount. Consider adding these too: Energy Suspension 19.1103G Transmission Crossmember Mount Bushings

    that's my plan.

You'll definitely hear more noise from the transmission with the mount and the polyurethane transmission crossmember bushings. It's not obnoxious and the positive engagement feel is worth it imo.

I spot your ride from time to time in New Bedford

  4. Oh wow, so I assume it’s a lighter flywheel. I had no clue when I phoned in the order lol!! Also got dealer pricing and paid $950 not $1237. Well, got an oem flywheel I need to sell, not returning it

    A good read

Flywheel on 5th gen is single mass anyway so a new flywheel for you. I just had mine resurfaced when I did my clutch.

  5. Just changed my driver side cam sensor. Also cleaned off my battery terminals with the spray and battery tool since I took it out and added the little colored terminal washers. But now after that seems my auto up and down doesn't work on my driver side window

On a lot of cars when the battery is disconnected the power windows and sun roof need to be recalibrated for the auto functions to work.

Just a guess as I have had to do this in a lot of cars but not for the Subaru yet.

Hold the window up/down button until hitting both limits. Once or twice. Should be fine after that.

  6. Sorry to hear about the engine trouble. What exactly happened and have you thought about just going short block vs long block?

I used BNR for a stock turbo refresh and wastegate port. Fair price and pretty quick turnaround. New chra, wastegate actuator, and cleaned up and painted exhaust side on my stock turbo.

  7. Ooooh snap!

It added a deeper tone and some volume, no drone, never annoying.

Mellow and not overbearing, yes I would say it would fit that description.

Its never physically tiring, my wife shows no indication she noticed any difference since I put it on, even in long trips, but you will definitely know it's there.

    It's a "humble rumble" :)

Those are just universal mufflers with welded on connections I'm guessing? Happen to have the model number by chance? Looks like a center/offset muffler proxs

  8. Looking forward to seeing what you go with! I am getting old and less tolerant of how much space a sub takes up so I want to see what everyone else is going with.

Oh, and where did you put your amp?

Going on 42 myself so I understand about the trunk space. I don't normally have anything in the trunk, but I don't want my stereo deciding what I can do with my trunk.

I put the new (to me) amp in the factory location. It's not bolted down, but it's not going anywhere. I used the factory mounting for my amp ground. Used a little rotary tool to clean off the metal of paint for a solid ground. I ended up taping into the factory harness at the amp to distribute the power to the factory locations. Subaru uses 16awg wire and that's plenty for the power levels I'm using. I'll make a dedicated run for the new sub when I get one.

  9. ^those remind me of KEF mids we put in a friend's Sentra 20 years ago.

How is the rest of the system coming along, when are you putting in the sub?

I haven't settled on a sub yet. Just going to work on getting the front speakers and doors done first. Maybe in a week or two I'll decide on a sub. Besides the obvious increase in volume, I need to get everything set up correctly crossover points, levels , ect.

Let me know when you figure it out. I'm looking to do some dynamat here in the near future and I wanna resolve the rattles. One of them that started recently is coming from the window switches. I can't tell if it's the whole switch assembly or just the switches themselves.

I had a rattle going on for a week, turned out to be my girlfriend left a pen in the door handle pocket on the passenger side

Probably the assembly. The area I notice is between the switches and the woofer. There is very little inner door skin so it's not as simple as it could be to tame vibrations.
