  1. Reading that new study about the Lambda variant by a Japanese lab, they're saying that Lambda can evade the vaccines because the spike protein is different from the other variants. It's is believed that the strain is competing with the Delta variant (and losing so far), Delta is keeping it at bay, for now. The study is not yet peer reviewed.
  2. My form listed quite a few of the side the effects we've heard about, including blood clots, allergic reactions and Latex allergies, they covered the whole gammit. I had to wait 15 minutes and be monitored, and that was it. My friend just got back from Morocco, he got covid shortly after arriving there. He got really sick, fever and severe muscle aches. He had to sit on the floor in the middle of a shopping mall when it hit, thought he was going to pass out. It took him a few weeks to fully recover. He was fully vaccinated with Pfizer in March. He credits the vaccine for not getting any of the chest cold part, his lungs were fine throughout the ordeal.
  3. Covid deaths from the Vaccine are very likely underreported but even if you take the CDC numbers at face value, it still means these are the most dangerous Vaccines produced since the 1997 flu season. And these are just deaths, 11k more people (also according to the CDC) developed permanent disabilities as a direct result from taking the vaccines like Heart disorders. Granted these are rare events and there's less than a 1% chance that you will experience any of these things, but they do happen. So let's not pretend there aren't any risks to these vaccines, they're all listed on the form they hand you before the first shot.
  4. This is true, just compare the death rate at this time from last year, big difference. Last year you didn't have the vaccine, plus Remdesivir and other treatment drugs were in shorter supply than they are now.
  5. That's really not how it was presented in the beginning, it was very much presented as a one and done. What you really had in the beginning were the skeptics pointing to the Spanish Flu Vaccine saying this won't work, it will keep mutating, we will need yearly booster shots to manage it. Turns out the skeptics were right. You cannot vaccinate this out of the population, they couldn't with common cold virus or with Spanish flu. In essence, that's what the dude in the video was blathering on a mile per second about. I might disagree with the other half of his points, but not that one. He's dead on correct there. Now, as far as flu vaccines go, I don't get them. I also haven't had the Flu, not since as a kid anyway. The last time I was truly that sick was with SARS in 2003 which I still very likely have T cells from. I do catch the occasional cold though. As for masking up, everyone should be, at least indoors. Vaccinated people are also spreading Delta, there's really no difference now between them and the unvaccinated anymore, except the unvaccinated might die or be hospitalized. So we really need to get past this 'those dirty unvaccinated people!' stuff. It's honestly divisive, lacks logic and just not helpful at all, especially when all of us are potential asymptomatic spreaders.
  6. The dude is probably right about one point he made, that we're all going to need booster shots, perhaps even yearly, Fauci just said this as well.
  7. To be clear, I'm not wearing a mask out of fear or anything, I just think its a really good idea right now, my wife is too, and she had the Pfizer in March.
  8. Good point, except for the fact that vaccinated people are transmitting delta too, and most are asymptomatic when doing so. Furthermore, they're not masking up anymore and contributing to the spread. We're over 70% vaccinated in my state, yet cases are increasing rapidly. I see maybe 1 in 10 people wearing a mask now. If we know the Delta Virus can spread from the vaccinated to the unvaccinated (or to the vaccinated) and we know that some people can't get vaccinated, then why aren't more vaccinated people masking up? I mean, as long as we're talking about personal responsibility.
  9. My friend has an autoimmune disorder and her healthcare provider will not vaccinate, it isn't even a choice. Honestly, there are a lot of people stuck into situations where getting vaccinated comes with heightened risks and its a decision that needs to be made by the individual after consulting with their physician. Sure it's easy to pick on the idiots not doing it for stupid reasons, but it's very important to remember those individuals who are stuck in the middle of this culture war who simple can't, or shouldn't get vaccinated due to valid medical reasons.
  10. People who have already had Covid may have better efficacy if they get the Johnson and Johnson vaccine https://www.news-medical.net/news/20210730/Prior-SARS-CoV-2-infection-enhances-Johnson-and-Johnson-Ad26COV2S-vaccine-immunogenicity.aspx
  11. I was asked this today and I had no answer for it. "has there ever been a point in the history of this country (the United States) where an experimental vaccine was pushed this hard by the Government?".
  12. I'm not going to tell people what to do, but I'm still wearing a mask indoors and I never really stopped. It's inconvenient, sure, but if I'm asymptomatic, it could save someone else's life. There's a new data available that shows vaccinated people infected with the Delta strain are spreading it to others. Hence the new indoor mask guidelines, they are for everyone, vaccinated or not. People can make their own decisions, but I've made mine, we're not out of the woods just yet. https://www.businessinsider.com/cdc-fully-vaccinated-people-can-spread-delta-variant-2021-7?op=1
  13. Unfortunately, the CDC has chosen not to track breakthrough cases unless they result in death, so accurate data isn't, and will not be available. Which why Harvard and many others are complaining that it skews the data from showing how effective the vaccines really are. For my part, I know 9 people now who were fully vaccinated in March/April who have contracted Covid over the summer, some of them were pretty sick too. Bottom line, it's much higher than you think. Here come the mask mandates for all people, vaccinated or not. California already started theirs.
  14. Curious what the good doctor says about the vaccinated breakthrough death cases. These vaccines will end up being about as effective as the flu shot on an avg year at preventing infection, better than that at preventing death. Better than nothing but not good enough. Get ready for you booster shots next year.
  15. Stopped by Blackbeard's brewery, had the IPA, the beer was good but the pizza was really good. Great thin crust, sauce and toppings were very tasty. Went for a walk after on the beach path using a new dog backpack. Ran into to some European women who seemed pretty amused at the Corgi poking her head out of the sunroof.
  16. I know of two people personally that were vaccinated back in March, both who recently contracted Covid. I don't know if it was the Delta variant or not, but thought it was noteworthy that vaccinated people are indeed getting infected. Both said the ordeal was fairly mild overall.
  17. Going to the beach this weekend. I'll be hunting for brew.
  18. Friend of mine just took his family to the Space Needle and then the Waterfront after. He said it was pretty clean. There were homeless but he said it wasn't that many
  19. Holy...the reviews on working at Leafly. "Worst company I've worked for" "A dumpster fire " "Burned through 8 CEOs in ## years" Sounds wonderful
  20. That ain't nuttin My Stomper as a kid could tow at least 1 lb, it only weighed .25. I wish I had the Brat, that thing looks awesome. Pretty sure I had the Silver Chevy
  21. It had a rough launch but the developer has patched a good chunk of the bugs and has a road map for the rest. I would recommend holding off until its completely patched, besides you don't need to purchase Odyssey to play Elite Dangerous, the base game.
  22. So far the Series X is awesome. Games that used to have a 2-3 min load time take less than 30 secs, like Red dead The instant resume feature for up to 4 games is coming in handy as well. FH4 looks pretty banging in 4k 120fps with full hdr.
  23. I need more top notch Red IPAs, I've been on the hunt.
