  1. I agree -- and using the parking brake on ice, you can't swing the back end around into a parking spot either!
  2. My windshield took a huge stone. Result was a significant star pattern just behind the mirror (no eyesight) -- too big to repair. That was 2016. I thought it would travel, but through three Canadian prairie winters it stayed put.
  3. Remember that Subaru has extended the CVT warranty out to 100,000 miles or 160,000 km and 10 years, so put this on your 2028 calendar as a consideration. Great Pic spencerone! Fill out your signature if you intend to stick around.
  4. Batteries typically degenerate over time with sulfates which form on the plates. Have never done this myself, but many users report some success in overcharging to dissolve the sulfates, extending the life. https://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/sulfation_and_how_to_prevent_it Recovery example here:
  5. So maybe the fact that this poll has disappeared for about 18 months shows that oil consumption in general is not a huge issue -- appears to be about the same with the 3.6 as the 2.5 with that small sample. https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/amount-oil-added-between-changes-238379.html
  6. Original battery is marginal at best. Mine's in for 4+ years, but I'm quite sure this fall will be its last. Put in a group 34 600 or more CCA and you'll be fine. https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/gen-6-battery-replacement-278179.html
  7. Well, they may be the worst in AMURICA. Who can ever know the international cup standards in a place like that?
  8. You may have stressed something, but you did not stretch the Subaru CVT belt. It uses a chain.
  9. Pretty cool. If you open Pics 1 and 2 and toggle back and forth, the difference is obvious. I like it. In addition, your time on the job is evidenced by the shadow angle under the car. Impressive. Compare that to my photoshopped version (OK, it's a little overdone - Outback-ish).
  10. I would trust the Subaru filter to the recommended interval of 6,000 miles. Interesting video . Personally, I use Wix. Nor would I change oil more often if I'm already adding new oil often. The more oil you add between changes, the more new oil is in the system on average! However, if I face an oil consumption issue after warranty, my first move would be to the 5W-30 which the manual allows for, or try a different brand of oil as above.
  11. I drove a rental 2015 Camry just after I purchased my Legacy. Drove it alot on windy roads and at highway speeds. I was very happy to get back into my 2.5i Legacy, all stock, and enjoy a much better handling experience. I did not have to "body adjust" to any steering tendencies and it handled solid "straight out of the box."
  12. For me, it took a little getting used to the gas pedal. Holding it steady at low speeds takes some practice as the car wants to brake using the CVT as soon as you let up slightly, leading to what might be what you're describing. What happens if you put the cruise on at about 25 mph (doesn't go on lower than that)?
  13. ^^^ Thanks Jacques45 and welcome to the forum! I'm assuming you mean there was no cost to you for the battery, not that the battery wouldn't charge
  14. Thanks for the update. It's hard to know what's causing those breakdowns in some cars but not in others. Let us know what they discover. My last change in Oct at about 26,000 mi required no oil added.
  15. Did my oil change again in May. Odometer at 19,000 miles, 4000 miles since prior oil change. No oil added between changes. Dipstick was showing minimal loss -- less than half a quart.
  16. What I hope is, when I get mine replaced, that someone else is then making glass for the 6th Gen. I don't care at all if it has the little warming elements by the wipers. They don't seem to help much anyway.
  17. My car is blind and my organic eyesight is rather unaffected so all is well.
  18. Took a major hit from a rock near the rearview mirror on April 30. No surprise it chipped based in the impact noise. Made the wife jump in her seat! It's too big for chip repair - sort of a double hit. It doesn't bug me so I'll wait for it to travel. I suspect it will take the trip in winter. At $200 deductible I see no rush. Windshield quality seems normal enough to me judging from this incident alone.
  19. ^^^ That's a subtle but helpful correction. I've changed the wording of my first post. If the mod could change the wording of the title to "Oil consumed between changes", perhaps that would help.
  20. Another oil change. Odometer: 26389 km miles driven between: 3712 (5939 km) Quarts added: none. estimated loss is less than a pint. driving style: moderate Full engine operating temp: usually Lifetime mpg or L/100 km: 30.8 mpg These 2.5i engines are absolutely a dream to change oil & filter; so easy!
  21. Expect to be 23% less efficient at 75 mph than at 55 mph. In good conditions (steady speed, moderate temperatures), you should expect maybe 28 mpg tops. If you're doing 30, throw a party!
  22. Wouldn't worry about that small remainder of oil. Some guys like to get it "down to the last drop" as if the old oil will poison the new. It won't. It gets so diluted it doesn't make a measurable difference. Now, if you're still unconvinced, throw a couple of 2x6 planks under each wheel on the back wheels. Your incline will only be about 7" and you'll have lots of room to play underneath. I second the motion for the Fumoto valve!
  23. ^^^ your oil consumption definitely appears to be outside the norm. If filled to the mark, most users, in the first few fills, experience virtually no oil consumption. Have you alerted the dealer? Of course they'll say it's within specs, but I'd keep it high on the radar.
