By chance did you have to cut off the heat shield?
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
I didn't have to cut off or remove any heat shields to install my dp.

Any advice on my upcoming install?
Just remove the rear lower control arms. You'll probably end up having to anyways so just get them out of the way and make it easier on yourself.

The spring and shock difference will not be night and day. You will still want to modify the suspension if you want it more sporty and less floaty.
I disagree on that. I replaced my stock 2010 springs and shocks with brand new ones for a 2013 3.6R recently. I would say it's like going from a gross squishy Cadillac sedan to a slightly sporty trim family sedan.
I could probably go stiffer, but it's nice that I don't have to fear speed bumps.

So sarang I'm guessing those two threads held up so far
I may try n go to the hardware store and get longer ones
Thanks
I may have described that poorly. It started out with two threads finger-tightened, then I went at it with a socket and got the nut all the way on before it seemed tight enough.
No leaks that I know of, but the bolts really seem like they should be a quarter of an inch longer.
With my Q300 the bolts are plenty long... but that's without the adapter.

I don't know how it is up there, but in AZ the braking systems in commercial vehicles must be inspected on a weekly basis. This means making sure that the brakes on every wheel work. Definitely get the maintenance logs, and if they refuse to give them just mention that you'll be getting them via discovery if you have to sue.
-
I reused my donut gasket and did not have any issues. IIRC, I used the bolts that came with the adapter, but they were only barely long enough, like I could only get them started with 2 threads and then hope for the best.

Did the tow truck really tow it with the rear wheels on the ground in that condition?
if it wasn't totaled before it is now...
-
The N1 is supposedly very loud, the Q300 is supposed to be quieter.
Check out this thread for lots of info and clips:

axelback by nameless performance or megan. alternatively you can do any of the dual can catbacks for the gt/3.6r if you're willing to get a couple of hangers welded on.
check this out too:

Also, you'll find a lot more info in the fifth gen section.

Appreciate the suggestions... some websites do not have 2016 models up as of yet, so i will keep waiting. Neither Magnaflow nor Invidia have the 2016 Legacy 3.6R listed when I checked, but suspect there may be a way to adapt one of the others.
Nameless Performance
IIRC they have a cat back and axel backs for the sixth gen.

GTEASER, not sure if you were being sarcastic, but if there is some misinformation I may have given please feel to correct. And I may be new to Subarus, but I'm 35 years old and have dabbled in every area of performance tuning vehicles. I do admit I'm still learning this platform, but I've owned my fair share of vehicles that have been tastefully modified.
I think he was serious. Your post added to the discussion.

If you're going to be welding on pipe anyways, why not fab the whole thing? Mufflers + Tubing has got to be cheaper. The way I see it a big part of what you'd be paying for in a pre made exhaust is that you dont have to make it.
That said, I love the sound of my buddie's 09 WRX with SPT cat back, I'd like to hear it on one of our cars.
-
Came across this: SPT Performance Catback Exhaust
Only $575. Have to mess with the hangers to get them to look right on a Legacy. It needs shorten to fit the 3.6R, correct?
The 2008 WRX cat back is not a direct fit. I remember someone posting about having to extend the flange.
-
does anyone know if the air intake of a 2015 wrx fits our lgt ?? The look pretty similar
This question has been answered. They do not fit, everything is just different enough to not work. Most importantly, they use a different MAF.. a round peg into a square hole type situation.
Also, our cars will not benefit from an intake until you upgrade the turbo, and maybe not even then.

2002-2007 has a completely different rear diff carrier and suspension than our cars. 2008-2016 rear diff carrier and suspension is identical to our cars.
So to clarify/confirm, if I found a similar product from a different manufacturer that was listed to fit the 08 WRX, it would fit my car? (for rear subframe and rear diff)

I don't know what that means but it sounds awesome...!?!?!?!?!?

This one is half the cost of the whiteline one:

don't forget that the BRZ has the same rear lca's as out cars

I want to find a place that allows me to do a 4th gear pull to redline without going to jail and having my car impounded.
The fourth gear pull was only to 5Kish, we were just on an empty on ramp that was extra long because it's right at the intersection of two freeways. Does that make any sense? Basically it's almost a mile of straight two lane freeway on ramp that had no one on it.
I was most happy about the 50 to 80 pulls we did in fifth and sixth since I can see myself doing those more often.

What was your Intake temp around by chance?

I didn't look. It was 55F ish out though

Stupid question of the day, I see a lot of people saying to ziptie the boost lines. But because of the high heat generated so close to the engine, wouldn't they at some point weaken/melt?
The one I found on the IM would be insulated by the rubber hose on the plastic manifold so I'd think it would be ok. In fact it seems like for most of them the rubber would melt before the plastic zip tie.

So I just got back from the tuner and the over boost is gone. With this revision the highest I was able to coax out was 18.4, but I was consistently hitting 17.8ish which makes me very happy.
Essentially, he had upped the WGDC to try to get rid of the boost dip we were seeing on the dyno, but there was no dip on the street. So now I have no dip and I'm hitting target boost crazy fast.
I really liked doing runs on the street like that because we got to do 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear pulls all the way to red line, as well as some pulls in 5th and 6th like I might do to pass or merge on the freeway.
I gotta say the torque rush is just amazing now.

This concerns me. I was hoping switching out the exhaust would fix my problem. Perhaps you have some sort of mechanical issue? Maybe the flapper can't open? That was my first problem.
I wonder that too. I'm heading back to my tuner today to see what he thinks. Mine didn't over boost on the dyno, so I kinda wonder if we will have any trouble reproducing it. I am also still not clear on why mine had the boost dip on the dyno. Hopefully I'll have more info later today...

Fwiw behind your manifold, you'll have to take off your tmic to get to it, there's a hose that is about the diameter of your pinky. See if thats secured. I accidentally pulled it off when we put on the Perrin unit and started the car and sound like a topfuel dragster. Ziptied back on and reset the ecu and everything was back in the clear.
AND WE HAVE A WINNER! Yessir, a small pinky sized hose had come off so I put it all back together and now it runs fine...
except for the overboost that I'm getting again now. I hit 23ish psi twice and took logs. I'm emailing them to my tuner and crossing my fingers.
Thanks for all the help BTW! Y'all are great
EDIT: In response to some of the discussion above: I am on stock mid pipe and cans and currently am over boosting too.

Congrats and welcome!
Looks like you have the same car I do. Do you mod? I only ask so that we can start enabling you...
