  1. I have both (just got the 2013 a month ago). The 2012 (with Lollipop) is a turtle next to the 2013. So when I have time, I will downgrade my 2012 cause it was definitely more responsive with the previous versions of Android.

I have the 2013 and for the life of me could not flash the ROM on with lollipop. So i just downgraded, its not like i need all the new stuff anyways. As long as i can play angry birds in the middle of traffic and freak out the person next to my car.

  2. Yeah, I don't foresee any trouble there. I'm an EE by trade, and have plenty of experience with OSes/software/etc. I mostly just have to find the right apps for what I want.

Speaking of that... is there anything that you guys use to keep track of maintenance intervals? As much as I dislike the stock spec.B nav system, I quite like having the oil-change, fluids, tire pressure, etc., reminders built into that system. I'd like to have something similar when I switch to the tablet setup, but I'm not sure there's anything out there that could do a mileage-based reminder (I know I could set a calendar-based reminder no problem). I imagine I'll have the data available through BtSsm, but I'm not sure how well that could interface with anything else that may or may not even be written. Maybe I'll have to write something myself! :spin:

Also, to reiterate my question, is there any reason people use USB DACs for audio (besides having a line-in for a mic)? I'd prefer to just use the built-in 3.5mm audio output from the tablet if possible. Saves me extra crap to order and setup. This is, of course, assuming the onboard DAC on the N7 isn't complete trash.

Its ok , most run an external dac for it. as per the audio, i have my radio jazzy modded to run aux which i have a blue tooth dongle on. So n7 just connects to that flawlessly. Unless you are an absolute audiophile, you will not notice the difference. Some people run aCar off google play to track their service intervals. Theres plenty of apps out there , i try to avoid writing code if i have to ( even though i had to edit some of timurs rom to better fit my needs).

  3. You can use the newer android software but i couldn't figure out how to. Timurs rom is compatible with usb dac and all that jazz. Its safer to use the non new version. Its easier if you have some back ground in flashing roms and all that.
  4. Anyone over here using the Timur rom with a rear view camera? If yes, could you post which rear view camera you're using? That is with a nexus 7 2013.

I am making baby steps: so far was able to get the tablet to recognize USB sticks, play music, and charge at the same time. So far so good :). But I am slllooow

I havnt personally , but on the reddit thing for timur there are quite a few. I believe all it is , is that the camera gets power and then the tablet switches over. This also means you'll have to run a OTG cable with a usb hub which is powered.

  5. Ugh. Well at least that seems to indicate it may not be a grounding issue at the OBD port. When I had the original protune there were also no issues w/ logging, but the tuner was logging through ATR on a laptop.

I highly doubt its a grounding issue. If that's the case it would happen all the time an even with a Bluetooth obd tool or such. The cobb is a good tool but like how others have said, it was poorly designed.

  6. Probably going to order a set of Wedge Engineering brackets for them. Or have someone local make brackets. They were used in an STi before I bought them and are ready to bolt onto new brackets using the OEM sliders.

I mean for the air bag and occupancy sensor . I always wanted to swap seats but i was always iffy on that part.

  7. I think the major difference between these two is really in the width (i.e. from top to bottom) of the hole. This one is noticeably wider. I think with a nexus 7 2012 it may work; but with a 2013 the gap would clearly be noticeable. Me think anyway..

I can attest to this. I have had both the smaller and larger bezels and the larger one is too large vertically.

  8. Just curious if anyone has the JDM spec-b version of the bumper for sale? Been looking everywhere for one but still can't find one.

Also don't want to spend $2000 to import one from japanparts.com :/

If anyone's got one for sale please let me know!

There should be one in the classifieds for sale. If not , contact either valley legacy or HKC-Speed on the forums as they import this stuff all the time.

  9. The bezel you have in your car, battel, is the one I'd be interested in getting. Looks like it's out at AVO and at JapanParts... will keep checking.

Dont buy the one from avo. I bought it and didnt convert the mm to cm like an idiot and found it to be too big. You could probably fit a 8.5 -9 in screen in there. Idk japanparts dosnt have it listed anymore. Its like they took it down after i bought it.

  10. I didnt want to spend money on the relocation kit so i just stuffed it into the left side of the dash because the passenger occupancy sensor and airbag runs through it.

I have a feeling this bezel will no longer be available :(. Can't find it online right now.

Have you looked on japan parts and what are you trying to put in there.

  11. And how do you have paddle shifters AND shift buttons? Is that stock?

Btw, like the carbon fiber trim along your head unit.

Nope , a custom job i did awhile back. They function like the buttons but #racecarPro

Also that carbon fiber is 3m Di noc and i swear it looks just like the real carbon fiber roof of my m3.

Nice! I like the way it's angled up a bit. Do you get any glare?

Kinda but not really, i have auto adjust . Thinking about picking up a jdm shade thingy for it,

  12. I guess i should add my build to the thread in the name of research.

Retained full functionality of the vents and the tablet Bluetooths to my receiver automatically and with timurs rom auto shuts and starts.

  13. Yeap, looking into that same generation - 2006-2007 SR5. Would be more comfortable and practical way to haul my buddies and gear during the snowboarding season.

My brother has the 06 V8 with a borla exhaust and that thing hauls ass. Only thing is the back seats leave alot to be desired. If your 5' 8" or taller its going to be a uncomfortable ride in the back.

  14. my 5EAT shifts hard from 2 to 3.........onlythats the only shift thats pretty rough..........

    wat is the problem?

    wat can i do?

Is this when you first start your car, when the transmission isnt warmed up?

Myn used to do this when the car was cold but would go away when it ran for a bit.

  15. Sorry for long story....I had replaced the driveshaft with a Driveshaft Specialists unit that, due to the design (and bad luck), had hit the underbody intermittently (esp upon sharp turns) after install and necessitated some adjustment to fit without hitting.

Now there is a noise and vibration at varied RPMs and fluid leaking from the rear seal. The seal was replaced once after presuming the shaft hitting the body may have taken our the original seal. The noise/vibration persists and the replaced seal is leaking again. Almost 180k mi on the car and I have Climber's F1 mod that has been great. No apparent problems with the tranny performance except for the noise/vibration/ repeated leak.

Any thoughts/experience with symptoms and suggestions as to whether this can be repaired (e.g., checking/replacing upstream elements in the extension case...) and whether this should be something the dealer shop should evaluate as my local generic shop hasn't given me the utmost confidence with this install.

Again - sorry for the length, but need help. The car is otherwise still going strong at Stage2.

You could switch out the tranny mounts for softer ones. They're like 30 and apparently make the sifting buttery smooth. IF the seal keep leaking perhaps try sealing it with silicon. I do believe that what my brother did on my car when i first got it. But you might want to throw it on a lift to check it extensively encase its a more major issue.

  16. lol I'm in college right now and everytime I come home my parents look at my wagon and go "Oh thats new".

Be realistic though. Set a goal of what you want out of your car and how much you're willing to spend. I have kinda just been winging it with my wagon which I've owned since Feb 2014 now and I'm $17,000 into it including the $10k price with 51k miles.

I saw you had posted in the AVO 2.5i turbo thread as well and personally I wouldn't attempt to do that with your car. I would just do appearance and suspension for now. Theres a reason there isn't a huge market for engine mods for the 2.5i engine since there is a turbo engine in the same car available.

Samesies. About to hit med school next year and i finally got myself to realize that ill probably be driving this thing for a very long time and more mods will begin to decrease reliability.

  17. is this light ALWAYS on???? it always lights up on my ride thou............ HELPPPPPPPPPPPP

and where is the SHIFT LOCK RELEASE button?

That light only is supposed to come on when you push the gear selector side ways when in drive. Is the light flashing by chance?

  18. I love the 4EAT and 5EAT. But never did a lot of work on the 4EAT. The below vids shows how the 5EAT behaves when you make changes to the ECU (not the TCM/TCU).

The below video playlist is not meant for sales purposes:-

I noticed that when i got tuned for stage 2 it my legacy began shifting faster.

Would it be because of increased line pressure causing it to shift faster?
