Strange Wideband issues
blackobxt replied to tysparks81's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
When I had an aem wideband on my Sti I remember seeing exactly what you are noticing. The aem would read richer than the ap because it would only read so rich and coming to a stop the aem would read leaner than the ap. -
Yet another new guy 05 OBXT build

Rainbow oil is normal for the first few changes lol. -
There are just so many variables here, different displacement, different intake, mechanical timing changes and a stock tune.
-
Holy knock correction. At least it’s at low rpm. what’s the IAM? am I reading that correctly? IAM is 0.125??
-
Be careful, I’ve seen many including myself who ended up stuck at the “just needs tuned” stage for years.

No you can just pull it off the one that’s in the car. Subaru manufactures the car and the drivetrain but the sensors and computers and everything else are manufactured by other companies like denso, delco etc. even Mitsubishi, I can almost guarantee there is a Mitsubishi logo somewhere on your car and yes Subaru will mark up the hell out of it to sell it to you in a box or bag with a Subaru logo on it.
-
Beat me to it lol
-
Same exact denso that Subaru is selling you on rock auto for $19.52. Subaru doesn’t manufacture the expansion valve, denso does.
-
Man you’re considering pulling the evaporator but you won’t replace a $13 expansion valve? You shouldn’t have to remove the evap but you will need to remove the expansion valve to properly clean it with solvent
-
Is there an expansion valve I’m not seeing there?
-
I’m liking what I’m seeing here, but you’re going to need one more can of 134a. Are those oem o-rings and schrader valves? If so what did that run you? I’ve always just used the o-ring kits.

Electric Power Steering Conversion?
blackobxt replied to aero901's topic in Fourth Generation Legacy (2005 - 2009)
Also to note, the power steering on these are pretty compact and I’ve never really seen the pump or reservoir impede on any “activities” so any freed up space will be pretty minor. -
Electric Power Steering Conversion?

To my knowledge this has never ever been done. If you’re willing to swing for the fences I’d say go for it but the path will probably be a total bitch with a heaping spoonful of disappointment. Grab yourself a 2015+ Sti rack and bolt it in. Much faster ratio and proven to work great. I got a used one for just under $400 in close to new condition.
