1. Some shops that I've talked to about body work would prefer it if you didn't do anything to "make it less work for them" since typically unless you're a body guy and you're going to do it all your self then you're actually creating more work for the body shop as they have to redo some of your work. ymmv
2. Which bumper do you have? The spec B one, the 3.0r, or the Standard GT one? I've got JDM Facelift Fenders and Headlights, I'm working on sourcing a bumper cover but that should happen soon enough.
3. Inline filters aren't good enough for you? You have to take it down to microns for your filtration? Don't get me wrong I'm all for good water, most water on ships is all either distilled, which I add Gatorade powder too to get some electrolytes, or R/O water. And it all starts as salt water which is why we have to purify it. For a house city water should be more than okay to drink. People have been doing it for ever and living plenty long. Helps build an immune system too rather than taking ALL the harmful stuff out
4. Exactly my thoughts. I know I have the skills and can make myself have the patience to do it. But there's so many little pieces in transmissions that that's where I get a little worried. I leave on Friday for 3 months aboard a ship and I've got plenty of service manual downloaded so maybe I'll do some reading and see what kind of stuff there is for rebuilding transmissions.
5. Cross post from the wdydt thread. Picked up a 6 speed for it today. It's a start to a full swap but it was free so not complaining that it is just the trans. Saved it from going into the scrap bin. Now I just gotta figure out which way I want to go with it. Got it from a shop that replaced it on an 09 spec B that drove into the shop. Talking to the guys it sounds like the center diff was making noise as well as having some bearing noise. It's not seized as I can turn the output shaft and see the front inners spin and it all seems to spin somewhat freely but I figure the diff should be replaced anyway. 1) leave assembled and ship to ppg as is to have them disassemble and reassemble with new bearings and center diff and probably a Cusco lsd front diff 2) disassemble myself, learn more about all the little inner workings of the trans, put a new center diff in and maybe a Cusco lsd front and put it all back together and hope I did it right.
6. Almost everyone with custom headlights has either done it themselves or paid a company to modify lights. There aren't any aftermarket ready to go modified lights I've seen.
7. For the price they are they aren't bad. Part of it depends how you set them up. I have mine set with a little bit of preload rather than optioning a super high spring rate but I still have quite a bit of droop so I'm not riding at full extension all the time. Some bumps are absolutely awful others aren't bad. But I've ridden in cars with KW coils and they are much more comfortable than what I have.
8. Guess I forgot to update here after the detailing. It didn't come out as well as I'd hoped it would. It is drastically better however there are still some swirls sticking around. Maybe I'll attack it again as I did my friends Tacoma and was able to get some pin stripping out of his paint from driving on trails. Anyway just been driving the car and enjoying it. Did Aluminum control arms with Whiteline bushings all around. Some pictures from the end of July when Kalien32 and I drove up to Mt. Rainier for the day and went hiking. Plus a bonus one at the end from a trip to Mt. Baker to go hiking as well the following weekend.
9. Brady must be a blast at parties when the cameras come out to document the drunken shenanigans
10. HKC Speed is probably your best bet. But there's not a whole lot of vendors that sell the stuff it's a few small importers that then put stuff up for sale or it's people that have had the bumpers and then sell them for something different
11. I was wondering if you were on the forum. You couldn't have given Matt a better example of a properly and tastefully modded wagon to drive. Well done!
12. Wow that looks great! Don't see that sports bumper often!
13. Picked this up today! 2014 FZ-09. I've been shopping for an FZ-07 in the same colors for awhile but there hadn't been any for sale. This came up at my local dealer on consignment for a great price so I made an offer on it and they took it. Its an absolute blast to ride.
14. Going to document my paint correction here. Doing little bits every day after work this week and borrowing a car from my parents to drive to work so my car can sit in a garage. Started with a decontaminate wash that removed all previous wax and coatings. Drivers side rear quarter just behind the passenger door swirls. Hard water spots on the hood Swirls on the hood Passenger side fender. Actually in really good shape and won't get any of the heavy compounds. Passenger side quarter scratch Another scratch Passenger rear quarter swirls License plate pocket swirls These pictures were after the decontaminate wash just so I wasn't taking pictures of dust. I claybared the whole car including all the windows except the windshield as there are some large chips and a crack near the windshield so I'll just pay my glass deductible and get a new windshield soon. After the claybar the paint feels much better and I'm beginning to change my approach. I was planning on doing the full car with the various stages of pad types and compounds however I'm now thinking start with the lighter compounds and softer pads to see how it handles the swirls and then go to the heavier stuff for some of the bigger scratches that are in the paint. That way I'm not burning through unnecessary clearcoat in spots and hopefully then I'll be able to just maintain the paint and have it last awhile with regular 2 bucket washes and good coatings.
15. Not if they've seen either you or Boxkita engine experience
16. Spec B's already have aluminum bits so you should just change the bushings.
17. I hadn't heard that. I've got a set of these at home and was planning the same thing. Maybe there's a collar that needs to be inserted for it to work?
18. That polished JDM grille is vomit worthy
19. Longtime no update. Car has been running great. Did the Cascade loop at the end of May with kalien32 and some other non legacy friends. Then was in Portland for work for a couple weeks and curbed 2 wheels on a sneaky curb so it accelerated my plans to buy new wheels. Ended up with SSR GTX01 in Dark Silver 18x8.5 +44 and swapped my tires from the Rotas over. Also visible in the last pic is the carbon Madrig spoiler. Some very fine tuning left to do on the fitment of it but it is miles ahead of the MachV spoiler in terms of fitment. Don't have any good pictures but I also snagged a full set of Brembos that I believe to be from an 07 STi limited as they are black instead of gold. Previous owner claims the owner of them before him recoated them but its hard to say. They need a refinish anyway so thats going to be a semi long term project. Going to rebuild the calipers with all new seals as well. Because do it once do it right.
20. That's actually on the cheaper side of the going rate. I had a few quotes while in CA of 8-10k to respray my wagon OBP.
