  1. Almost up to 78,000..... Engine got new rotating assembly at 61k due to oil pump pickup tube fail. Holy moley I've put 17,000 on it since May of last year!!!
  2. Took my kids to the Pittsburgh Children's Museum on Saturday. It was fun. Went up to Clarion for my Niece's cheer competition. Thought I lost my spare set of keys. Turns out they fell under the passenger seat. Derr. Went to my daughter's Kindermusik thing with my wife this morning. I think I should go again... because mommies. No, my wife does not seem to mind. We... talk.... about what we see during the day.. at certain times.... it's been 11 years and we're not bored yet.
  3. I like reverting to a restore point in time that I know I had no issues. Windows and its updates (and how they break proprietary software) have become the bane of my very existence.
  4. Just cracked 77k... Bought with "rebuilt engine" at 61,212mi and I have replaced the turbo, transmission, water pump (seized) and timing kit. Here's hoping I make 100k without any more broken stuff. I have a spare turbo and a transmission I'm rebuilding just in case.....
  5. Most likely. When you do manage to figure out a solution to the transmission issue youre going to need a clutch and a TOB...
  6. That's what I'd have done if I had more money.
  7. AKA drive gently and shop for replacement parts because you're going to need them.
  8. Yeah EJ22 or EJ25 SOHC isn't so bad... These DOHC engines? I'd pay somebody else to do it... maybe.
  9. I'd start looking for a replacement transmission. That's just me though... I saw chunks and started shopping immediately. Ended up with Pitcrew's Spec B box. I'm going to be rebuilding the one I pulled out because the one I'm running right now won't live forever. The center diff bearings are guaranteed to fail at some point.
  10. Well regardless the skinny thing looks like the center diff locking ring that holds its guts in. Part # 20 in this diagram... http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/3331/centerdifftz4.jpg The chunk of larger material looks like part of the pinion gear... if you look at the photo below, there's really not much else it resembles. Note the location of the drain plug hole below the number 19 on the ring gear... also note the separation of the components.. that hunk of locking ring had to find its way past all of the gears and through that divider to end up in your drained fluid. Anything could have happened. if you baby it, you might get months or years out of it... if you don't... maybe weeks. http://www.subaru4you.co.uk/images/parts/dogbox.jpg
  11. Looks like part of a gear tooth and a chunk of the big center diff retaining ring thing. When I took the back plate off my trans the center diff retaining ring clip thing was wedged in at an odd angle and was missing about 2 inches of material....
  12. True.. If you're nowhere near a roller tuner with thousands of hours of experience, an e-tune is about all you have for options. I'm trying to figure out what you mean by "ok" dyno tune. Are you saying you know who Nate is and what he does and you think his work sucks?
  13. This thread is why I'm just going to TPG and let Nate have at it. Scary stuff.
  14. You insane? I heard of a bunch of Middle-Easterners who went for a walk in the desert, and they got lost for 40 years.
  15. Would be able to take kid to and from school. ...In theory.
  16. Work from home. That way you have a job and your kid can get the education she deserves. Yeah yeah, I know... easier said than done.
  17. My BFAM and I took our 2 year old daughters to Sesame Street Live last night at the Consol ctr.. Award-winning cuteness was observed, my wife got some good photos on the EOS... I'll attach a couple whenever I get the time.
  18. My daughter is hypnotized by old-school Charlie Brown lately. She asks for it over Dora. I'm a bit proud lol. Charlie Brown is good stuff.
  19. You re-used your idlers and tensioner? Why? Yes, a washer goes on the back of that. Make sure the spacer bushing is inside it, too.... I kinda forgot to install the spacer bushing in my Impreza's tensioner when I did that thing's timing belt. Then I lost it. I ended up making a new bushing out of self-lubricating brass sleeves purchased at tractor supply...... and then I found the bushing a few weeks later under my tool box. No, I didn't tear it all apart again to install. Self-lubricating brass is fine in that location... for a while. Yeah, that washer definitely needs to be in there and you may want to double check that the bushing is in there too. since you're pulling it all apart again to do that, make sure you have your marks lined up before you pull it apart... no need for haste to wreck your valves.
  20. BUY NEW HOSES. Seriously, man... after all that effort you wanna cheap out and half-ass the hoses?????
