  1. And its about 3.78 liters per gallon so 15.18/9 = $1.69/liter * 3.78 gallons per liter = $6.4 per gallon If my math's right
  2. Packing up for our first camping trip since the snake bite. Just a car camping trip this time....and my veterinarian friend is coming with us. Hoping for better luck than last time
  3. That's it's - I had a typo in my original. It's a weird read. It's sad, vindicating, anxiety inducing.... really a wide range of feelings and thoughts. Really shows the damage social media can do. A lot of these people probably would've been vaccinated in a normal world, but thanks to fake social media news, they chose freedom....to die. The saddest part to me is how many of them are parents. Yeah, it was bad last year when 70+ year old grandparents were dropping dead from covid. But it's even more sad when 40-60 year old parents are dying this year because social media has convinced them the vaccine is dangerous.

  5. So what is your relationship with hospitals? Do you work at one?
  6. Started my new job on Thursday, liking everyone I've met so far, but the onboarding process is a bit scatter shot. Due to the car shortage from chip issues, won't have the company Jeep Cherokee until November 18. So I've got a rental Kia Sorento. It's gonna be a ~$6000 rental bill. Would be much more cost effective to just reimburse me for mileage on my GTI. Kind of ridiculous since I tried to negotiate a bigger signing bonus. Nope, couldn't do that, but can pay six grand for a car rental lol.
  7. Something tells me that if someone presented real time numbers to you that didn't mesh with your preconceived notions, you'd just dismiss them as fake news.
  8. October 5th is the take home date? I think it's good to have a name or three in mind, but don't name until you bring them home and have been around them for a few days. Let their personality steer you towards a name.
  9. There's a difference between having the appropriate capacity to meet needs for things like MRIs, x-rays, CT Scans, scheduled surgeries, etc, and your emergency room/ICU
  10. Been watching Clarkson's Farm on Amazon prime. Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear/Grand Tour trying his hand at running a farm. Pretty entertaining, especially as a long time Top Gear fan. Pretty interesting seeing Clarkson being taken down a few pegs, and being truly humbled by the struggles of farming.
  11. No you're just stupid. Coronaviruses are a different type of virus than influenza viruses, like, by the basic definitions of the words.
  12. Welp, I feel stupid now. When I first tried to remove the cartridge, I wasn't holding the faucet thread in place. Which resulted in it spinning and kinking the supply from handle to tap The Home Depot cartridge is installed and works just fine, despite the slight difference in dimensions
  13. Thanks Mr Euro Now I'm more confused though. Put the old cartridge back in for the meantime....and no water. With the cartridge out, if I open the shutoff valve, water comes out of the handle connection area. So maybe there's some sort of blockage between the handle and the tap? The hot side, which I haven't messed with yet, still flows properly
  14. I don't get paid for my spare time, so if I can save a couple hundred bucks for repair vs replace, that's my preference
  15. Unsure. Nothing on the handles or faucet itself. I'll check under the sink to see if there's any identification there. Took the cartridge to a local plumbing specialty shop and they identified it as a 20 point Euro style broach. There's one other plumbing shop I want to check with. If no luck there, I'll reach out to the company that did the renovation in '07 (before I owned the house) and pray they have any records. His and hers sinks. One of the handles is dribbling water, the others are just hard to turn. Maybe vinegar soak will do the trick with them.
  16. Matching cartridges isn't going well. Gonna try a plumbing supply house tomorrow, hopefully better luck than home depot These two looked close enough. It fits in, but no water flow....and yes, I confirmed the supply valve was opened back up
  17. Finally quit my job. Was in a holding pattern with the new job, thanks to the drug screening clinic uploading my results to the wrong vendor account. Ended up having to do a second drug test. Good thing I didn't sample the legal weed at the Seattle wedding. Gave my 2 weeks notice on Monday (I was on vacation last week), and they had me come in yesterday (Tuesday) for my exit interview. They did it in a hurry since I'm going to a direct competitor. Start date will be Oct 4. Gonna use the time off to get some stuff done around the house that I've been putting off. New kitchen cabinet hinges, bathroom faucet cartridges, clean and repoint marble steps.....and I'm sure there are other things I'll think of.
  18. No. We were backpacking so didn't have any tools to do so, could have ended up getting ourselves bit in the process. Maybe could have found a rock to crush it with. Also, it's illegal to kill wildlife in National Parks (not that we would have gotten caught), and it's not like the snake did anything wrong. It was just being a snake.
  19. And no hatch so less practical. Seems like the only real advantage it has over competitors is AWD at a better price than the Golf R.
  20. Doggo is making great progress, I'm so freaking proud of him. The bite was July 30th, the attached video was from today, Sept 4th, and neurologist said by 60 days should be close to 100%, so I think he's on a great track.http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/61336c02787a7/20210904_072556.mp4
  21. Florida has the rare distinction of being the only state with more deaths per day now than at any previous peaks.
  22. Accepted a new job. A modest increase in direct pay (salary plus bonus) but better benefits, better 401K match, profit sharing, and will pay for my MBA. And provides a company car instead of my current monthly stipend plus 17c per mile (which ends up leaving me slightly short changed all things considered). Will be getting a Jeep Cherokee, then in a few years presumably will get promoted to the next level which would qualify me for a Durango or Ram 1500 Gonna be sad to get rid of the GTI, but looking forward to the new job. And the GTI sale is more or less an extra signing bonus.
  23. Have seen continued improvement in use of rear leg, and finally seeing some of his personality coming back - picking up toys to play tug, and that sort of thing. Neuro appointment was this morning. Said the nerve issue was either at the spine or just below the spine, in the upper thigh. Doc said if the dog presented like this without the snake bite, he'd say it was almost definitely FCE, fibrocartilaginous embolism from trauma/activity injury, causing a spinal stroke. However, with the snake bite, it's more likely to be thrombosis from the venom, but also resulting in a spinal stroke. Offered to do an MRI to better determine the diagnosis (and rule out tumor but that's highly unlikely considering the limp happened right after the bite), but that would include anesthesia which has it's own risk. And the treatment plan would be the same either way - continued slowly increasing amount of exercise, and check with our regular vet for any physical therapy, including potential laser therapy and/or acupuncture. If we aren't back close to 100% at 60 days (Sept 30) then consider MRI at that point.
  24. Doggo is still pretty limpy. On Friday he started using his bad leg/paw a little bit while outside, and has slowly been using it more and more. But he's also incredibly lethargic. Hoping it's just a side effect of the antibiotics - tomorrow is his last day of those. He goes for maybe a 10 minute walk in the morning then just a brief step outside to pee in the evening. Isn't interested in playing inside at all. Was hardly eating his food, so I picked up some canned food to mix in to his kibble and that at least has gotten him eating. Neuro appointment is the 20th so hopefully can learn more then. Oh, and we got the clinical notes from the ER vet and it's total chicken scratch....so gonna be requesting a typed up version we can actually read.
