  1. Have you put a boost gauge on to see if there is actually any boost? No boost gauge unfortunately. Have you datalogged airflow to see if it actually increased? Yes, using Romraider logging, we could see airflow actually did increase significantly but we could only see max of about 1 psi and at about 4000rpm boost is all gone. My tuner told me, I needed at least 20 cubic meter/min of maximum flow to maintain the boost which unfortunately my SC is rated and could only supply 13cubic meter per min. We are doing the tuning right now and our test result showed that the SC could increase top speed by about 15kph when doing the 2nd gear pull (from 2000rpm to redline) Power gained seems small only 10HP and 9 ft-lb using the stock rom. Note that these test result is using the stock rom and using the modified SC tubing and cone filter with SC on and off comparison. I think if we tested using the stock intake/airbox and no SC, the gain would have been bigger. I will try to swap the stock intake/airbox when I have time. Also note that the airflow have change and increase significantly and the stock MAF scaling need big changes as well and I expect this should improve the car performance even more when tuned properly. Can we see a pic of the fins? Sure What is the construction of the fins? Are you concerned that a failure means your engine "eats" supercharger innards? It's made of aluminum. No, I'm not worried, because the SC actually came with cover at the mouth of the air outlet for protection.
  2. Yes, still enjoying it and hope to complete the tuning soon.
  3. The truth is the Ohlins dampers can be partner with probably any spring brand in the market and would still get great ride quality. Even with much higher spring rate than what I have now. But that does not hold true for the other two coilovers.
  4. That's what I thought too. But how do you explain the Ohlins with much stiffer spring having a much better ride quality than the TEIN or the Bilstein having much softer spring? The difference in ride quality is not just minor, we are talking about huge night and day difference here. So it's not the spring that matters, it's the damper that controls how the spring plays. Maybe you should read the Ohlins DFV technology. http://www.ohlinsusa.com/road-track-tech

  6. Harshness is not cause by the spring rate. It is cause by how good your damper design to handle bumps. Mine is actually 9kg front and 8kg rear. I've got to experienced 3 coilovers: 1. TEIN Type Flex - 7K F and 6K R 2. Bilstein B14 BSS Kit - 6K F and 5K R 3. Ohlins DFV - 9K F and 8K R The Tein was ok during summer but harsh during winter. It is slightly firmer than OEM at softest settings (summer). At softest settings however it seems to affect handling. My major complaints are it is noisy and not comfortable during winter. The Bilstein is also fine during summer but can become unbearable during winter. Since it is not damping adjustable, it is slightly firmer than the Tein. Note that the spring rate is less than the TEIN. NVH seems to be the same feeling but maybe little firmer for Bilstein. The good thing is it is extremely quiet and great in highway driving. The Ohlins was great even during winter, I still had no experience for full summer season yet since I've just got it last November (before the weather became cold). Up to now, I still haven't set it to the softest settings yet (still have 2 more clicks from softest) but as far comfort is concern and as far as I can remember, it is much more comfortable than my OEM. It was not bouncy and not soft when I make a sharp turn. When I purchased the kit, I was initially thinking why the standard spring rate was so high for this kit, I kept asking myself maybe it will be too stiff for comfort but I was prove wrong. The difference between this and my TEIN in terms of adjustability was night and day. You could feel some difference when you adjust 2-3 clicks whereas for TEIN you don't. Softest to Stiffest was a big difference. So it is not about the spring rate but damper design. My Ohlins seems can handle NVH quite well too. So I doubt it, even when you change the spring rate, you won't feel any difference, not unless you change to a better damper.
  7. Actually, I was planning to post this similar question too but, since I've seen you ask this question, then I might as well wait for some answers here. What I'm worried about with mine too just after installing the e-SC. Since my SC sucked air, just worried that some oil or vapors from the hose might be sucked into the intake manifold. However upon seeing the same setup for Phantom SC, maybe this setup might be fine after all. But come to think more about this and also having a supercharger, it should benefit the SC more if it is a straight through tube (just like sipping thru a straw with and without hole) and just put a breather filter to the end of the hose. So I might just change my setup but just need confirmation whether the hose need pressure or not? Sorry Fred, I don't mean to hijack your post..
  8. All the stuff (data logger and wideband O2 sensor) that I've ordered just arrived today including my most anticipated 9th generation e-supercharger. Racelogic Performance Box instead of G-Tech Pro Innovate LM-2 (wideband O2 sensor with data logger) This weekend will be fun, will be installing the new e-SC tomorrow and will need to find a shop to install the O2 sensor. If have enough time, will probably play around with the Racelogic P-box. Also this week, I've already sent my car stock ROM to Tactrix. Currently, my ROM as expected was not supported, so it will need new definition before I could edit the ROM. I also contacted Edward of XRT today to inquire about possibilities of hiring his services for remote tuning.
  9. Actually aliexpress seems to sell them. The 8th gen model# is LX3971. Didnt find the 9th as it has just came out. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Centrifugal-electric-turbocharger-LX3971-car-modification-necessary-power-fuel-national-patent/1636613280.html
  10. Thanks. I will check on him if I could not find a tuner here locally. Anyway my tactrix cable have arrived. Hopefully ecuflash does support my ecu or else need to send a copy of my rom to tactrix. They will add support of my rom to their software before I could edit them, although they said it will probably take some time to do this.
  11. A company called Jianchem makes them here. Let me ask first if they are willing to shipped them to US. I will get back to you later.
  12. I've tried to use it the other day, but it seems like you have to manually press the button to start the 0-60mph run. I think the problem why I'm getting inaccurate result with Torque pro is because of the GPS, it's really cloudy and difficult to get GPS signal sometimes here in Beijing and would need a GTECH pro or other gadget with more powerful antenna to resolved this issue.
  13. No check engine so far, there's only one minor issue - the supercharger regulator won't start during extremely cold weather colder than -8 degrees C. They give me a quick fix which is to keep the engine warm and reset the regulator. They said, it had a minor bug and have been fixed and they've claimed to have tested it and it should worked until -40 degrees C. They gave me an option that they will either send me a replacement or get their next 9th generation SC which is more powerful (20%) and off course I opted for the latter for an additional minor fee. It should arrived on Monday or Tuestday. The new generation SC has dual scroll with 5 additional blades design and a more powerful motor. Yup, I have already made up my mind and decided to keep it, I just can't drive without it anymore. Just absolutely love the torquey feeling and increased acceleration all across the RPM range. Of course that's SOTP but I could definitely tell the night and day difference when I drove the other day without the SC started. Still waiting for my GTECH Pro to arrived and we should get an accurate reading of my 0-100kph test run. I have a got feeling that this cut my 0-100kph by at least 1-2 seconds or maybe more. Once I've confirmed this, it will be good to get a dyno test.
  14. Mine is a 2.5i CVT. So can't do the launching. I basically just floor it. If I have time, I will probably also try the paddle shifter.
  15. I was able to install the e-supercharger last weekend and have been playing with this for almost a week. The install was actually easy as you have to tap two wires from the regulator to the throttle body and another to either ignition coil/fuel injector connector to get signal for the throttle body opening and rpm respectively. Remove the 2nd section of OEM tubing to the throttle body, install the supplied rubber tubing and follow the instruction in the manual to connect the supercharger. For me, I have to do a slight cutting of the bended rubber tube to fit. Install the regulator and find a place to install this, mine I have to install this near the car battery. Connect all the cables to the regulator, connect positive and negative cables of the regulator to the battery. Connect the wireless regulator monitor power cable to cigarette lighter power outlet. Once everything is connected, we are ready to start the car. For the initial start, the e-supercharger need to be configured, it has a feature to auto learn which can be done thru the wireless regulator monitor. There’s also a test where the supercharger speed will be tested variably from slow speed to max speed. You can also program the supercharger to start at specific RPM, they suggest me to set it to 1200. The supercharger speed are dependent to two variable - RPM and the throttle opening. This also allows you to used either of the 4 settings: P0 – turns off the supercharger P1 – P4, with P4 being the strongest, the manual suggest this to be use for racing only. They’ve suggested P3 for my car. My initial impression of the supercharger was good. I could easily feel my low to mid end torque to have greatly improved. Not sure what’s the published 0-100kph for 2.5i NA? But I think to get a more accurate result, I have to get a GTECH pro or an AIM solo. It’s a little difficult to ask someone beside me to time and record the test accurately. I don’t know why I can’t use my Torque pro accurately. There’s one run where I keep getting bad results like 13.5 sec and 23 sec using Torque pro, not sure if it has something to do with the GPS or my settings in Torque pro. That’s why I gave up and have no other choice but to do this manually and ask someone to record the test with me. I will probably order a GTECH pro and if I have time, I will retest another 0-100kph run again with and without SC. For the meantime, I have been observing, monitoring and collecting some performance data using the Torque pro. I’m thinking of getting a stage 1 tune. I think with stage1 tune, this SC should work even better. Anyone here got their 2.5i NA ECU tuned? I have already ordered a Tactrix cable and hope to start to tune this car myself if I could not find someone tuning this car.
  16. Thanks Fred. I will probably install this thing on weekend to see how it feels. If I don't feel anything at all, I won't get it dynoed and will just return it. On the other hand, if I can feel some considerable gain, I will schedule a dyno next week to see how much gain we can get from this thing. While I'm there, I will also try to measure how much gain I've got from installing the Okada ignition coil. Let's just hope for the best. Hope to get the replacement regulator box today.
  17. But looking at their chart label (y-axis), it really says HP.
  18. If it's in kw, it's still not high enough 50hp is only 62.+kw
  19. The only good thing is that they were able to get consistent result out with or without supercharger. Without SC - 49.7, 52 HP With SC 83.7, 85.4 HP But still don't know why their hp is so slow, not unless it's in another units as FLlegacy suggested. It's quite possible especially the software are in English and they are not set properly. Btw, speaking of dyno, how much do they charge per dyno test session in US? I have just got a reply that it cost about USD170 here :-( Now, it makes me double think whether to go ahead or not with the dyno.
  20. Still haven't got a reply on where to get the car dynoed. Anyway, I'm still waiting for a replacement of the regulator box of the e-supercharger. I had a test fit last weekend and find out that the wire of the regulator box was actually too short. I had to sent it back and they will send me another replacement box. I also asked them if they have dyno run of this thing and they said they have but with their older generation of the SC. They said they are soon to schedule another dyno test of their latest 8th gen e-SC. They are quite optimistic of at least 20-30% improvement with the latest generation. Anyway, while looking for where to do dyno, I came acrossed with the test result of another e-supercharger company here in China. This is one of the two best SC maker here in terms of quality. But their supercharger cost much more. Few months back, I've already seen this and was actually inquiring about this. They said they will have a dealer here in Beijing within the next few months, since they prefer they will be the one to install this thing. So I said, I can wait not until I got this offer to test from another SC company. Looking at their dyno test result, it was actually quite an improvement. Their test car was a Mazda 6 with 2.0 liter engine. Without the supercharger, they got max HP of 49.7 and with the SC, max of 83.7HP I only had a little question here why their stock dyno only got 49.7HP and I know the stock Mazda 6 with 2L engine is rated at 140HP. Not sure if this is a load or inertia dyno? I'm having issues attaching photos here of the chart, but anyway, you can see them in the video below for the chart and the dyno test itself. Almost at the end, they also had some actual test of 0-100km/hr run comparing the SC Mazda 6 2.0L versus Mazda 6 2.3L and some Chinese cars. http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNTE2OTA1MDMy.html
  21. Yup, I do plan to get it tuned. Actually the seller advice it would be best to get it tuned. Still searching on where to get to get dyno here. I saw in one forum that doing some dyno testing their electric supercharger. Still waiting for them to reply back.
  22. The most logical test to prove that it really work is to find a dyno here or if not I will do a couple of before and after 0-60miles/hr run test. I've seen someone on a dyno test here recently but still don't know where they get it done.
  23. I actually expected someone like you would have a very violent reaction. Actually I have been doing some research myself these past few months. You can see me posting in Perscitus Phantom supercharger post. I've been looking at another one which basically functions the same as the phantom supercharger and only works during WOT and can get boost of up to 6psi. But this cost a lot more 3-4 times. I have been keeping an eye for this for almost two years already and have been trying to get feedback from others who have installed it. I admit there's not much actually we can do with 2.5i, not unless we sell our car and get the LGT or changed to an LGT or STI engine. But sometimes we get more satisfaction if we can get the car to perform better than before. Since buying cars here costs more than double than in US or any other countries, I intend to keep my car as much as I can and as long as it is still performing well. That's the reason why I'm going to try it, if it doesn't work then I can still return it and there's no money spend and no one got scammed. To be honest with you, this thing is not like an e-ram that's being sold in ebay. The one being sold in ebay is just a blower built inside an air filter and just a power switch to turn on. There are also tons here similar to the one in ebay. But this e-supercharger that I've got now has wireless digital meter with computer box that controls the spinning of the supercharger and they have tested it can produce boost of up to 3psi. Let's just wait and see how it goes. They also give 3 yrs warranty and they also provide free lifetime change of the supercharger's bearing of up to 10 yrs. Unlike the cheap e-ram! The e-ram is made of plastic while this is made of metal and aluminum.
