  1. recieved all the props in the world on the to and from WBM. passed a convoy of probably 20 cars on there way from quebec and got loads of thumbs out the windows. i saw one 5th gen LGT on the way back and we obviously exchanged appreciation
  2. spotted younger dude in a 5th gen LGT with a girl in the passenger seat. we rode together on 91 for a while after WBM. you had a big [HOONIGAN] banner on the back window, we exchanged thumbs up shortly after we came together. car looked real good so glad to see another one out in the wild
  3. that is something i would be interested in for sure.
  4. yes i'd be very interested... except i was thinking more like 45 or 50 aspect ratio tire on 18's because I'm all about the sidewall
  5. hahaha no its too big and to good on the highway for me to be into that. if it was an impreza tho i could be into that. I wonder if i could get away with larger tires + a little drop to give me a similar ground clearance with less arch gap.... HMMMM:icon_idea
  6. all these stories want to make me lower my car for it to be more noticeably awesome...
  7. TIG is like a 2 handed MIG you, push heat with one hand and filler with the other. I'm semi ambidextrous so i have confidence i could learn it i just haven't had the chance to try. if i had the space and the money i would have a MIG and TIG and I'd be welding together all sort of shitty things hahaha. I think we actually have a TIG at work I should come in 1 weekend and mess around see what kind of beads i can lay
  8. I'd say it certainly couldn't hurt as long as you are careful not to do too much and create weak or leak points
  9. eh... stagnant zones in most cases are no bueno. a crease like that can definitely have a negative effect on flow. you have to remember "stagnant zones" are considered that because the average of flow has no velocity but there are still particles moving every which direction in them. and in this case the only way those particles can escape that area is in the opposite direction that we want. so it will hinder flow worse than a hard corner which can at least release particles only perpendicular to the direction we want.
  10. are you talking about just smoothing the edges or actually creating a sort of bell mouth for the dump pipe? smoothing the dges will have some effect but obviously it matters how far you go with it. making a bell mouth for the waste gate flow would likely fix over boosting if the flapper is free to move, but it would be some difficult fab work that's for sure
  11. I've been looking into taking classes. i used to be good at MIG and ARC welding and was alright at brazing when i was in HS but haven't done it since and never got a shot at a TIG welder. there is an awesome welding institute here but for some reason they don't have a single night class
  12. god i need to get a job designing these things. I've put more thought into how to improve/solve this DP than i ever have put into designing a seal.
  13. I had a the tech who did my 60k service say that mine is "one of the most immaculately maintained cars" he's seen in their shop. not much of a compliment when you look at the state of a lot of the vehicles they work on, but hey i'll take it.
  14. hahahaha i know, I concentrated on fluid dynamics in school, tho since i have only used it to generate theories rather actually doing calculations. still blows me away, the amount of time and effort spent must have been tremendous. They made some machines that worked pretty damn well with hand calculations and hand drafted drawings, manually operated lathes and mills. now i can model something, not even make drawings and have a laser sintered part made out of damn near anything at my door in a week.... shit's cray.
  15. Dude CFD is where its at tho, how people figured out carburetors without it is freakin mind blowing to me.
  16. can't tell from that angle, but if there is bend on the wastegate pipe where is meets with the turbine flow than its the original. if it just goes straight into it it's the group buy
  17. saw a really sick looking silver 4th gen the other day on flynn ave in burlington. i barely caught it but it sounded GREAT! no hood scoop and the sounds makes me think it was a 3.0. lowered for sure. also saw a pearlescent purple dipped (i think) 4th gen going towards williston from 5 corners in essex junction. i've seen him a couple times on my lunch break in the same area
  18. it is based on your current avg fuel economy but IDK how it could go off after displaying 70. if I'm mid highway trip and getting really good gas mileage, around 28 MPG, it will go to dashes after displaying 40 miles remaining. if I'm beating the car for its lunch money I've seen 10 (only twice both times after i had been autocrossing at WBM and getting well under 10MPG)
  19. Did you try pushing the DP away from the flapper as much as it can? someone got this recommendation from Nameless
  20. from my experience ~18 gallons is the usable amount in the tank (tho i've never completely run out I've come close) 1/2 gallon lost to the tank, to low for the pick up sounds about right to me so i think google is pretty much right. when my light comes on i still have a solid 50 miles left in the tank if i'm not caning it and getting 25ish MPG. so yea, about usable 2 gallons after the light comes on 2.5ish actual gallons. I've had the fuel gauge nearly down to where it rests when the cars is off so you probably had some more miles left in her
  21. RRP 4th gen GT yesterday on 15 in essex junction. a UFC FAN in a 5th gen 2.5i possibly tinted also yesterday. blue 4th gen LGT in "Colchester" near st mikes 2 days ago. heavily tinted silver 5th gen 2.5i a couple of times..... so many subaru's up here yet i have spotted noone from the forum GGAHH!!
