  1. Probably can't do that without pulling the strut, right?
  2. I saw that and I plan to use self tapping screws to solve that problem. It's really just the medium sized bolt that's got me scratching my head.
  3. Okay, so I was going thru all the parts and pictures today; my instruction and parts list are slightly different than yours. The large bolt goes with the 2 nuts and the stopper, that's easy enough. But then there is 1 medium size bolt with nut & washer, and 4 small bolts with washers. There are 6 mounting holes on the brace, so what goes where? Are we re-using any of the OEM bolts? Where does the medium sized nut/bolt/washer combo go?
  4. Okay, so we're saying that the car runs better and has more power with the HKS/Takeda combo? I've never had a car dyno'd, so I don't really know how to read the charts.
  5. My butt tells me more on demand power with less hesitation and smoother idle but rougher start ups. MPG's are up .5 maybe at best. I should have used my UltraGauge and written down all the associated before & after numbers (intake temp, vacuum pressure, etc).
  6. I might get some black silicone and put the bead on the inside to seal it up. I definitely want to do something about the way the clips just hang loosely in there when they're not snapped in place. I've already turned a few heads and gotten some thumbs up for that, lol. Yeah, my piece looks a little contorted right now and it's keeping the stock half of the box from lining up correctly with the air inlet duct.
  7. As nadracer suggested in an earlier post, I think the box serves no other purpose than to hold the filter and tube in place and uses the stock half to support it. It's sort of a CAI/SRI hybrid system.
  8. I had better fitment as well, but maybe because I didn't go around the corners with the rubber seal. I have a roll of black Gorilla duct tape that I would use for the seams if I was to tape them up.
  9. When I first saw those seams and holes in the aFe box, I was like, huh? Then it occurred to me, they are on the outside air side of the filter, so I figured never mind.
  10. Okay, question for the engine experts; after putting in the new intake, it feels like to me that I have a firmer brake pedal now. I moderately understand how the whole brake vacuum booster works, but would changing the air flow via a new intake affect that? I thought the booster would only be working when the throttle is closed, so, am I just imagining things?
  11. Easiest way would be to pull new wires into the doors and tap into the door lights.
  12. Silly question, how much does it cost for a dyno run?
  13. Car didn't seem to rattle as much going over potholes, or that could just be the placebo effect.
  14. Yes it does, but I didn't feel like waiting 2-3 months for the GTSpec.
  15. Cusco 08-14 WRX/STi rear strut bar (692 541 A) is a confirmed fit. http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4701017&postcount=715
  16. Confirmed; the Cusco rear strut bar (part no. 692 541 A) for 08-14 WRX/STi fits our 5th Gens.
  17. I just ordered one. Seems pretty straight forward of an install. For the two missing holes, I'll just use self tapping screws. You may need to translate the instructions for me if I get hung up on something. P.S. Apparently, I got the only one they had since there's none listed anymore. Can't play with scared money in this game.
  18. Maybe here? http://www.shopitchina.com/item/12530973945 Anyone wanna try it? I'm already gonna be the guinea pig for the Cusco rear strut bar.
  19. It says it fits the BM9 & BR9. BM is the chassis code for the 5th gen Legacy sedan (our car), and BR is for the 5th gen wagon. The 9 is for the H6 engine, which shouldn't really matter.
  20. I took the plunge and ordered the bar from JNA. I got the last one they had in stock (I hope). I emailed a bunch of other suppliers, and the only other one so far who says they have it in stock was Rally Sport Direct. There's a few currently on eBay. I ordered from JNA because they're nearby in CT. Megan Racing also makes one (part no. MR-SB-SI08RU1P) that might fit, but it looks of cheaper quality which is probably why it's half the price of the others.
  21. It says that it fits Legacy Sedan (B4), chassis code BM9. BM9 is our cars, unless I'm wrong, so the Cusco 692 541 A bar should fit. That same bar supposedly also fits 2008- STi's. Now, we know the RSB from the STi fits our car, so maybe any rear strut brace made for the STi will also fit?
