Where's the graph? If you are seeing a rev dip, it is the TC locking up. If it is unlocking, you'll see rpm jump up a little. If you are seeing a slight drop in revs around 5100 rpm, you're describing normal behavior.
-
Mine does, but I don't know if the 08+ do the same.
-
I used a fiberglass cutting wheel, and it got eaten up pretty quickly. You'll need a few of them.
-
Lol! Pre vb mod = wait for shit to assplode. Your chances of not destroying your transmission on e85 without a vb mod are probably similar to winning the lottery. If your TC is already acting funky, then you should go easy on it or be prepared to fix it wen it breaks. It's probably just the TC clutch.
-
Only time will tell how much power a vb modded 08+ 5eat can handle. In theory it should be similar to the 05-07, but I have doubts about the torque converter since several of them have crapped out from mods.
-
That's weird. Mine locks up around 5k rpm during a 3rd gear pull. I can sometimes see a slight rev drop when it locks up. Have you logged TCC lockup? It might be worth it to make sure that's what's happening.
-
Not hard on it.

You won't really over rev on a downshift since the tcu won't let you. You can downshift and end up at redline though bouncing off the limiter. I've done that a couple times from just pressing the wrong button by accident.
Engine braking isn't bad. I think you'd have to be towing to over do it.
-
Yea. Normal timing is in the 40s at cruise.

You could always use some seafoam in the oil. Do an oil change with some cheap 10w30 oil. Stay out of boost for a hundred miles or so, then change the oil with something good.
-
Good tip. Thanks!

I'm going to have to do this soon...passenger side's leaking. I guess I'll wait it out until it's time for plugs again and do them at the same time. Maybe I'll try jacking up the engine.
-
Because you'll wind up with a 4EAT. Don't ask me how I know.
But was that from wot in 5th or wot shifting to 5th?

Will anybody ever crack the TCU software?
This one will get taken care of when someone with decent disassembly skills tackles it. Someone posted 5eat roms on the reverse engineering thread. They need to be defined, but I doubt if anyone here's up to it.
-
What is the safest way to launch a 5EAT?
The trick is you can't answer with "Don't launch it at all".
Do it without spinning any wheels.
-
You don't want it sucking air into the system. You can get air bubbles in solenoids and have some issues for a while. There's a self bleed process that can be done, but I can't remember if freeSSM can do it or if it has to be real SSMIII.
The pan holds around 4qts, so just drain 2 qts at a time and replace them as you go to save headaches.

It will last until you attempt to tune it.

Out of curiosity, what is the difference between the GTX 3076r and the GT 3076r that NSFW has?
-
190-200 is not the danger zone. It's approaching it, but not there.
-
Yea, supposedly ipt actually does the 4eat right.
-
And cuz my wife burns the shit out of clutches!
-
Thanks. I was going to post your link in here. Hopefully something comes of it!

I have a cig lighter plug for my laptop. I haven't tried logging with it plugged in. I don't see how it could fix it, but it's worth a shot.

Here's the thread I started about my rev dip a while back. It only happened when it was hot for some reason, but it's exactly what you're describing. From what others have said, it is definitely TCC lockup. Why don't you just log TCC lockup and see what it's doing at 5100 rpm? It's in the experimental logger defs.
