^ Now THAT im gonna have to be looking at...
Why? There are already much better options out there.
-
Figured when I sell my kid - buying the HKS ones...... http://www.japanparts.com/db/parts_detail.php?submit.x=51&submit.y=6&NUMBER=00041927&VOLUME=381-309-005&DEALER=1&CAR=157&MIDDLE=3&SMALL=9&MAKER=37&VOLKEY=&SEARCH_DEALER=1&SEARCH_CAR=157&SEARCH_MIDDLE=3&SEARCH_SMALL=9&SEARCH_MAKER=&SEARCH_VOLKEY=&SEARCH_page=
Go with KW's instead.

That seems overly complicated and just another thing to break.
-
AP Holder install. The 5 minute ghetto fab version.
Nice that's where I was planning on putting mine. Too much damn snow to deal with that right now.
-
Winter mode. Coils are set just about at max height which is slightly lower than stock.

I've been saying for quite a while that someone needs to be brave enough to try the 08+ WRX Koni Yellows in one of these cars. Truth be told I could have kept my Swift springs and attempted it but I wanted something plug and play.
-
That Turbosmart can do full recirc if he wants.
Oh I know, just seems pointless to spend $70 extra dollars if you just plan to run in resirc unless someone plans to go SD like you.
I installed mine as a full recirc as well. A blank off port plate is included with the BOV.As Bliz stated, once the volume of air is measured by the Mass Air Flow Sensor in the intake, the ECU adjusts for the proper fuel mixture. If you dump off some of that air using a BOV, now you have a momentary lean condition which can cause backfires, etc...
If the same BOV is configured for full recirc as a BPV, you don't have that issue since all the air has been accounted for in the fuel trims, as it passes thru the engine.
Also, due to the location and orientation of the BPV on the 5th Gen LGT, if you were to run this BOV as a 50/50, the open port would be facing upward, exposing the slide piston to the elements ... (i.e., maintenance issues).
Since a 50/50 BOV setup does not provide any performance gains, it's a matter of how badly you want to hear the air vent, and willingness to deal with the associated problems that come with it.
Here's some good info related to the use of BOV's and BPV's:
http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/technical-info-bov-bpv-set-up-and-operation-150687.html
Yeah this is what I was getting at.

While the 50/50 is a cool concept I still don't know if it's a good idea with a MAF. You are still going to screw with the fueling with 50% of the air being ejected from the system. You are planning to go visit a protuner after you install it right? You aren't SD tuning it are you?
I think I may buy the 34mm diverter valve version in the spring time.

NGK 2309 (LFR7AIX) Plugs and TurboSmart 34mm BPV
The 50/50 or the diverter valve?
-
What did you buy for a valve? Which plugs?

A little confused now...are you guys saying that I can put 08 WRX coilovers on my 2013 legacy 2.5i and just need to use the stock front "tophats"?!?!?!
Is a tophat the same as a strut mount?
And, is that all that is needed and I'd have a direct fit???
And, if so, what is the additional or lessened lowering compared to a WRX???
Thanks in advance.
Also, may we have all the "correct" and valuable information in the first post on page 1 so we don't have to hunt and filter?
I don't think anyone has done it with a 2013. Assuming nothing has changed then yes. A tophat is the same as a strut mount.
-
Just remember that if you use a set of 08+ WRX coilovers, you'll have to use your stock front tophats. They'll fit on the KW, but I don't know the sizes on Tein/H&R/etc. I'm using OEM tophats front and rear with my RCET2 (KWv3)
Yeah good thing to point out. I don't think any of the three brands mentioned come with tophats.
-
Ya I've been reading about the H&Rs since they're progressive springs and seem to be comfortable for DD.
I've been searching for the Tanabes and now i'm intrigued. Searched through the "slammed 5thgen thread" and a few other coilovers threads, but where are you finding them for 879. Everywhere i look is 950+
PM'd.
-
Also the H&R's would be another cheaper/quality option to consider.
-
I'd rather stay away from Teins to be honest, after having these S.Tech lowering springs I'm not too sure I'd want a hole coilover kit from them. I'm going to dig around on those Tanabes, seem like a great value and see how people have liked them. Also i've been trying to meet up with local subie guys on a subaru forum here locally and ride in a few memebers rides and see how things feel.
This should help you.

found a set for 1700, but dam that still a lot of money. In my mind i'm thinking "coilovers are coilovers right?" my analytic self is saying "no, buy quality" but myself being frugal with $$$ and where its spent is saying "buy megans or fortune auto 500s for price"
You could try the Tanabe's I mentioned. Made in Japan, utilize KYB struts. Spring rate isn't super stiff but for $879 they seem like a bargain...
Part number: TSC162
You could also try Tein basics made for a 08+ WRX.
-
Quick...do 08+ wrx coilovers fit our cars??? Part 35245015. KW v3s to be exact
They should why? Buying used?
-
Mine arrived yesterday. Not installing it until winter is over though. Already snow plow bad enough as it is with the car being lowered.
-
^They probably already have huge turbos, I assume most are diesel. My chevy pickup came from the factory with a GT35 on it! Exhaust intake and chip was about +150whp/+300ft/lbs
Accessport for UPS trucks=profit?
Diesel powaaaah

I bet you never get your hands greasy. Must be why you have 800+ posts.
Really?
I have a hell of a lot more posts than he does and I get pretty greasy.

Megan, no hating allowed...ok hating allowed.
Good luck?

I think I might be a bit crazy here. I purchased soem steelies for my winter set-up and they are on back order across the USA. So I'm looking to just pony up and get a set of DRAG DR-33's for the car instead.
But... while Gunmetal seems to be a good solid choice, I'm digging the bronze color as well. The gold is too much.

Am I off my rocker? It's a 2012 LGT, stock ride height and all the trim is still chrome look.
Man out of all the Drag wheels available that is not the style I would choose lol. BTW discounttiredirect is doing a $100 rebate on any 4 tires or 4 wheels only through their ebay store.

Got some candy canes for the Legacy
Looks like bounce central to me.

anyone know if the coilovers for 10+ Legacy will fit on an Outback?
My guess would be probably? Not positive though.

I don't know if anyone is selling them for less than 2K.
With such an expensive part I figured it was worth $100 more to buy from a larger retailer who you know won't give you any issues if you have a problem or need to file a warranty claim.
