  1. Posted that^ just so I can post these: http://www.skilifthabkern.ch/images/1818.jpg http://www.1818.com/images/uk/1818/1818_01.jpg http://www.blogwiese.ch/wp-content/1818Zuerisee.jpg

  3. Fortunately I do have another vehicle: http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/strizzy123/Badlands%203-14-09/TJoTM/th_TJoTM_3.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/strizzy123/th_Quarries2.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/strizzy123/Badlands%203-14-09/TJoTM/th_TJoTM_2.jpg click for larger images I was going to make it my winter project and go crazy with it and re-do the suspension to make it my not-so-daily driver (reason I got the LGT), but the specB said no way and decided to take up all of my Jeep budget for its build.... and then some. :spin: And it doesn't help that I get 12 MPGs on the highway.
  4. My builder has his own specific break-in process that I was to follow. My motor saw no boost (2-3psi at most) and stayed under 3k RPM for the first 1500 miles. Once I was getting into boost (23psi) for tuning is when I started having issues. I'm just trying to figure out what would cause a forged piston to fail like that.
  5. Update: Good new and bad news. Good news: Valves are ok. Bad news: Pics explain it pretty well Piston ring http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/strizzy123/Legacy/IMG_2942.jpg My Malhe #4 piston http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/strizzy123/Legacy/IMG_2945.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/strizzy123/Legacy/IMG_2941.jpg Cylinder 4 http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/strizzy123/Legacy/IMG_2943.jpg This sucks. I babied my car during the break-in and warmed it up before driving, every time. It looks like the edge piston ring caught something on the cylinder wall and somehow folded over and forced between the piston and wall. Shop has never seen that before. The shop is covering the cost of the re-rebuild. Block is getting machined and 4 new pistons are on order. I'm looking to have my car back a week into January. I get to break-in my motor again. Longest motor build ever.
  6. Sad news: Had a misfire on cylinder 4 today while cruising through a parking lot. Brought it to the shop and went through every possibility it could be. Injector, coil pack, plug. After some more diagnosing, it was concluded to be a burnt valve. New nitrated valves are on order and scheduled to be installed Wednesday. Hoping to have the car back by Thursday and get the tune sorted out. Also hoping that was my issue with random knock. I hate unexpected expenses...
  7. Any more info? PM me if you'd like. Accoridig to TR's website, 640cfm.
  8. Went to the shop yesterday for a long day of tuning. Everything was going good until we started doing 4th gear pulls. Knock was showing up at 5500RPM at 22psi and 12* of timing was being pulled. Tweaked the tune and then knock was showing up at 3k RPM. We took it easy on the way back to the shop and knock was showing up randomly while diving.Hooked up some detcans to rule out a faulty knock sensor, and no knock was heard. Just a LOT of transmissions noise and my Perrin TMIC, which isn't the best fit after the turbo swap. Long story short, I get to go back Thursday to replace the knock sensor and install group-N motor, trans, and pitch stop mounts; then try to finish the tune. In the meantime, I'm on wastegate boost (~21psi) and the rev limit has been removed. I am driving nicely until Thrusday, so I won't be able to see what the car can really do. But at 22psi during the 4th gear pull, I was hitting 22psi by 3400 RPM and dropping off to 21.7 by 7kRPM. This will be my 93 octane tune. Spring will call for the E85 and 28psi tune This thing is a rocket ship... I have decided to go with the FMIC, so my Perrin TMIC will be for sale soon.
  9. I have considered itme's FMIC, but I'm not looking to go the cheapest route. For a bit more money, I can get something with less bends, joints, and rubber piping, and an intercooler that looks to flow more efficiently. I'm not saying I dislike itme's FMIC. He has a very nice product and I was actually looking to purchase it before I went with my build. 10. And let DS1 install it for another 2 hours...:lol:
  11. But I really like the hood scoop Maybe I can get a 3.0R hood and put a fake scoop on that Either way, I am leaning a bit more toward the FMIC route. I would just have it coated black. I still have time to figure it out since I'm waiting til Spring for the E85 tune.
  12. You might have a difficult time finding someone running the same turbo as me, since I have the 4th one made (according to the serial number) and the second one (that I know of) that is installed. I will be getting a mild tune this Friday with about 15-16psi of boost on 93 pump, then come spring I will be tuning on E85 with 25+ psi boost. I am being told expect pretty quick spool (~3500 RPM) and little drop-off up to redline (cams help also). The first person to install TR's TD06-20G blew his motor during the 3rd pull (stock internals), but before that happened, the tuner said he saw a lot of potential and already had some impressive results and can't wait until he starts tuning me for E85. I will be getting road tuned, but when there is an open dyno day at one of the local subi shops, I will get dyno numbers and post them. When will that be? I'm not sure, so stay tuned... My next dilemma is if i should try to squeeze out every last bit of my Perrin TMIC, or go with AVO's FMIC. I like the 'sleeper' appeal of a TMIC, but the efficiency of a FMIC.
  13. Whoever it was, was probably getting really annoyed by your slow driving on and off the gas
  14. I finally picked my car up last Friday. Everything was perfect, other than a bad front O2 sensor, which has already been replaced. I'm stuck with a 3k RPM rev limit for the first 1500 miles of break-in (only 900 more to go), and hitting fuel cut at 80 MPH on the highway is NOT cool. I had my first oil change and everything looks good. After 1500 miles, I am allowed to get a moderate tune (~16psi max), then at 3000 miles I can go nuts (can't wait!). I absolutely love the exhaust tone of the Tomei EL headers (yes, the boxer rumble is still there, just much nicer and "cleaner" sounding). The Tomei cams make the idle super smooooth. Considering I'm not boosting more than 3-4psi, drivability feels better than stock. Oh, and I like how my calculated MPGs on the gauge cluster shows me at 45+ mpgs (1000cc injectors)... I will post more updates as I get tuned and can open her up a bit.
  15. Even worse is they called from the side of the highway. And stage 2 mods throw away any chance of warranty work.
  16. I saw a few LGTs at DS1 today and also heard a conversation over the phone with what sounded like someone blew the center diff or torque converter on their 5EAT.
  17. ^ I forget off the top of my head when the switch to top feeds was made (07 or 08), so I didn't want to say anything. Also, is the 07 CANBUS?
  18. 07+ has catless UP and vf46. Catless is better because if the cat falls apart, all the pieces will straight into the turbo.
  19. For sure. Send me a PM if you do ever decide to come to town. I have a few friends in West Lafayette too, from when I went to Purdue for a few years. Now I want some Mad Mushroom pizza and cheese sticks. Bring some with you when you visit
  20. Cams ordered... These are what I'm getting: http://www.tomei-p.co.jp/inf/pdf/110_ae-Letter.pdf This one is for you Brian: http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/strizzy123/Mobile%20uploads/IMAG0154.jpg And that is my motor you see in the corner of the pic...
  21. Just a quick update... I stopped at the shop today to drop some stuff off and to take a look at the build. I changed my mind on waiting for a new EJ257 shortblock (which was taking a very long time) and went ahead with just having my block machined and rebuilt instead. Inspecting the pistons in person shows that I had a pretty bad oil consumption issue, as you can sorta see from my shotty cell phone pic. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/strizzy123/Mobile%20uploads/IMAG0152.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i274/strizzy123/Mobile%20uploads/IMAG0150.jpg My next dilemma is cams... Should I or shouldn't I? I'm about 50.9% sure I want them. I just don't see/read about many people running them, since the install is a PITA and cost a lot in labor. My labor cost will be minimal/none since my head are already off the block. The way everything looks right now, I should be back in the drivers' seat by the end of next week. Then again, everything is always next week... Update edit: New EJ257 block was unexpectedly delivered after a long backorder. It is the new part number block with the nitrated crank and slightly bigger rods.
  22. Very nice. I can't wait for the results myself. I will eventually go FMIC, but I want to see what the Perrin TMIC can handle. Then I'm thinking about a CO2 IC sprayer. And I think you're really going to like that LSD. Also, what size if the AEM intake? I just picked up a 73mm kstech, and my builder is saying I might be maxing it out once everything is dialed in.
  23. td06 And I just noticed the numbers for the tdo6 and td05 are the same on their site, which is incorrect. If you look at the td06-20g numbers for the 02-07 WRX, they have the same specs as the LGT fitment td06-20g.
