I think I paid to be the guinea pig.

Wow. Some mark up on the resistor IPT charge, huh? LOL.

Resistor pix.
Could not get my meter on it as the ends are insulated. I can pull some back, it will be difficult to get my leads up where the resistor is.
Also, I traced the wires into the harness. Without removing more to get to where they taped up their splice I can not see the connections. I took a pic to show how far up the harness they ran the wires.

The amber piece in the 07-09 light is glued in at three tabs and the edge (all the way around). Best method I have found is to let it heat inthe oven seperately for a longer period then CAREFULLY use the heat gun and plastic wedge to get the glue to let go the rest of the way.
I offer clearing for $120 per set. $170 if I remove and replace them. I am in So Cal and am a forum vendor now.

^ Agreed. There have been a few locals over time who stepped up and lent a hand. socalsleeper has been doing so for some time now. There are things I can do, that just are not very feasible at someone else house. Some things take more than one day or more than one set of hands. These types of jobs are still best left to a facility with the proper tools and environment. I know my limitations. If its too big a job I will direct you properly. If I can open a real shop, no job will be too big.

Someones got to do it. With all the shoddy installs and repairs being done between SD and LA someone needed to step up.
I am not perfect, but I WILL NOT let you drive away with an inferior install, I will not BS you and I WILL make it right. I take GREAT pride in my work and am EXTREMELY detail oriented. Plus I have years of experience with the cars. My own cars are a testament to my work habits and skill.

West LA is no problem. I have gone to Chino, Walnut, Arcadia, Alhambra, Carson, etc in just the last month alone.
605, 405, 710, 10, 60, 91, 15, 215, 5. If your near any of those I can get to you. I am in 92057. I have gone up to 400 miles round trip to work on members cars.

The tile setters are almost done with the house. Let's try and work something out for the reinforced oil-pickup install.
I am ready when you are.

Need good, reliable, professional work on your car? Need upgrades, installs, maintenance or repairs? Even custom modifications?
Shoot me a PM or an email at msprank@yahoo.com.
Just paid for my vendorship here on the forum and going into business. I make house calls for your car. Work can be done at my place or yours. I am in SD N County, but will travel 100+ miles to you. Looking to open a full service shop in the future. INSANE pricing.
Check out my thread in the So Cal forum.

you got it.

Do what I can. Its mounted close to the VB. I will try and trace what wires it intercepts. You want resistance measured with it connected? Or you want me to verify resistance of resistor?
-
I will take a pic tomorrow. I have the tranny mount on my bench. Just pulled the insert. I will take a pic before I put the mount back in.
-
Sorry it took a bit. I spaced it. Resistor is 10watt 5.1ohm. Car is 2008 LGT 5EAT.
Hope this helps.

My pump is for sale if you want to buy it cheap. Get that code gone for ya.

Passenger side needs two plates if you want to leave the solenoid instead of dismantling it like me. KSTech now sells the third plate separately. I removed everything and cut apart the solenoid, so I used two plates. Both on the engine.
Been two years since I have used an AP. Sorry, not sure anymore.

Might be able to assist. Depends on scheduling.

Flame thrower for tailgaters?

Then it would of sucked for you:p paying for shipping xx times, but how would they know if a diff resistor made it better? That would of sucked:lol:
You drove all the way to NJ from CA?
I drove from SC to CA and got of tired/bored from driving on day 4 (last day) I dont think I could of done a round trip
I am dedicated, but not that dedicated. At the time I was working in NYC and living about 30 miles from IPT. I knew I might get sent back to Cali, so I went to IPT before I had to leave. Made sure to do all my upgrades before the 4k road trip back to Cali.
But can you imagine the nightmare if I had shipped it in? They told me they tried SEVERAL resistor values before they got it right. Also took a few extra hours more than normal. I could see it having taken several shipping trips back and forth before getting it right.
-
Yup. Mine is external because it was the first 2008. VB on 2008 is more like 4EAT than previous 5EAT's. Because of this they had to change the resistor severa times before getting it right. External because they kept swapping. Just a bummer that once they got it right they never put it inside the VB. What if I had mailed it in instead of driving in? Makes me wonder.
-
Thats me. I have the external resistor. Porcelain style. Like you get at Radio Shack. I can see it zip tied to a harness of wires. I can take a pic and check resistance value. The car is on stands while I strip it since it got rear ended. My VB is for sale too, lol. It is the very first 2008 VB IPT ever did. I drove the car there and left it with them for the day.

I like the idea of the ceiling storage rack to hold things, lol. I hadn't thought of that. I even have two in the garage. Looks like it works pretty good.

It is out of my friggin way now. Weighs about as much as 1/2 of a battery (unsprung weight). No more annoying noises at start up.
It was interfering with my 68HTA too.
So, no "performance" gains per say. But it needed to be done.

Climber wins is second chicken dinner of the last month.
Sorry was basically upside down and backwards taking that shot. With one hand I had the camera and with the other I was holding the wires (out of the shot) to help show how far up they went into the harness.
