but i mean the electrical connections between the face plate and whatever controls the display of the face plate....unless those snaps/screws provide the electricity.

There is two connectors (if I remember correctly) beneath the face plate that connect to the main board of the head unit. You might have a bad contact in one of them... Does all the control buttons are working correctly?

Yeah I know! There is no tracking with this shipping. Sometimes it takes up to two weeks, and sometimes less than 4 days... Strange! I have seen faster shipping in CA then in New York, but Montreal (where I am) is about at a 6 hours drive from NY!

The length of the 3.5mm cable depends on where you pass it. Usually, 6 foot long is enough if the cable is exiting in the hash tray or for a cubby install. You'll need 8 feet or more if you want the cable to pass into the arm rest. The cables I had before were 12 foot long since 6 is not enough for all applications and 8 foot is not a standard length.

unfortunately, my aux in module is not compatible with EU head unit (aka yours!). I have already looked at the schematics or your head unit and my design cannot be easily adapted to work in your car. It seems to have a pretty good interest in Europe for such a design, so I may design something for your head unit one day.

I'm pretty sure that the Australian head unit is the same as the European one, so my design cannot be installed into Australian car neither.

There was some people that bought the first revision of my kit that were not able to use it when the source (mp3 or sat) was plugged into 12V. Now, this problem is fixed.

Okay I don't know if it's an error with Paypal or not but my three cards (Visa's) (2 of them being credit cards, and the third being a debit card) I am getting an error from Paypal saying "The card you entered cannot be used for this payment. Please enter a different credit or debit card number." This is not the same as the wrong information error because I did get that error with one of the cards but then corrected it. Anybody know what's going on?

I just got an Ipod today with an FM transmittor and am already regretting the FM transmitter. I haven't used an FM transmitter in years and I thought they would have gotten better by now but apparently not.

 

So anyways, I am interested in purchasing one of these if you are still making them!

I'm not exploring a way to integrate the charging solution onto the aux in board. I'm using this http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/autopilot

and it's working #1. I plug the griffin into the 12V outlet of the armrest and then, the audio cable is plugged into the griffin.

I'll ask the same question I asked in mvigneau's thread. Since this taps into the CD changer cable, is it going to split the voltage of my aux input an cause a low audio? This was the problem I had with the Jazzy board unless I left the cable disconnected from the CD changer.

It is true that my aux in uses the cd's audio lines. BUT I have a relay on board that disconnect the aux in when not in use. Also, I have a preamp stage with 12 dB of gain on it, so you don't have a low aux in audio volume compared to the head unit volume (don't know if it is said correctly...).

Clearly, there is not problem leaving your ipod connected at all time to the aux input. I will not affect the head unit audio volume or quality. Trust me, this is really worth it!

A couple questions:

 

1. How exactly does the auto-detection work? Is it a sharp cut, or does it take a while to kick in/out... I'm thinking along the lines of using it for GPS navigation on my iPhone while listening to AM/FM radio.

 

I takes about 1 sec of music/voice before the aux in is activated. And 30 sec. of silence to deactivate.

 

2. I currently have mvigneau's aux-in solution. Do I need to uninstall the old one, or can I simply keep both installed? Will having both installed affect the sound quality or anything?

 

I don't really know how mvigneau's board is working, but I don't think using two different aux in at the same time is a good idea. Mine uses a relay to disconnect the cd's audio lines. Maybe it could work but maybe not. I would need more detail on how the mvigneau solution works.

 

3. How will the two inputs interact with each other, for example if I have a friend's ipod going to the mvigneau input and the gps navigation app on my iPhone going to the lepronix input, will the ipod cut out and the gps nav turn on when the lady tells me to "turn left in one quarter mile" and then go back to the ipod when she's done talking?

 

I don't know mvigneau solution enough to be able to answer to this...

 

4. How long would it take to get to my door if I were to order one today? Do you have any in stock?

DocHolladay23, yours has been shipped last monday, so you should receive it within 1 to 2 weeks. Again, I'm sorry for the extra time. I asked the post office to find out why my package came back and it seems that the officer erred by reading the Canada Post label. I think there is a lack of training from Canada Post; they are not even able to read their own label!
