  1. I need something to hook up the boost gauge in my STi Gauge Pack...
  2. Just to clarify I've been told the spec.B top hats have stiffer rubber in them, but I cannot guarantee that is true.
  3. Technically the OEM bilstein top mounts are an upgrade from gt but they only work with shocks/coilovers designed for them
  4. If your biggest concern is best ride with more controlled handling I'd suggest stock springs and koni inserts. I love my Epics and oem bilsteins but they are noticeably less comfortable than the stock wagon we have also.
  5. So you're saying I should change the oil on the Miata?
  6. Hence the adage, "How do you make a small fortune in racing? You start with a large one."
  7. Got mine in and functional. Still need to clean up the USB and aux input though. Parts used: Pioneer avh-x4600bt JDM double DIN swap JDM hazard button 14 pin harness i88 harness i85 harness SWC adapter Over all I'd say this was really straight forward and easy. The wiring diagrams and descriptions from SVXdc make it really easy to get things done. I spent Monday night hooking the harnesses up and then took my time last night to install everything. I spent the most time cutting and dealing with the support braces blocking the hazard button. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/10/01/gusuveny.jpg
  8. Wow great build. I'd have the compression and leak down check done, it may not be bad enough to need a build now.
  9. Now that this car is running so much better I finally fully understand why people love these cars
  10. This week I noticed the Miata was leaking coolant and based on its location I suspected it was the water pump. When I dropped the 1.8 into my car I cheaped out and didn't put a new water pump on at the same time I did the timing belt, so it appears it game back to haunt me. However it turned out be fortuitous because as I got all the timing covers off I discovered the intake cam was off a tooth. I also happened to pick up a used throttle body last week so I threw that on too. Now the car feels like a whole different car, where as the car used to only really work best from 3000 to 5500 RPM now it pulls much harder across the entire rev range and will easily hit redline now. It was a long day of working on the car, but absolutely worth it!
  11. Sept 7... it was Miatas at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
  12. Yeah, thing is Laguna Seca is very much a power track without power from the exit of turn 11 to the entrance of the Corkscrew you'll never make up the difference in the corners. I suspect Thunderhill would be similar, but Sonoma Raceway would be better for the Miata. The reality is I'm such a noob it wouldn't really matter. The lower speed of the Miata should allow me to better learn car control and be more comfortable exploring the limits. I painted the top black on mine in Forza 4 so it at least looks about the same as my Miata Yeah that always bugged me
  13. well a mountain road is one thing but a track where you can really gain speed between corners is really another. I suspect my spec.B would have been about 10-20 seconds a lap faster than my Miata was at Laguna Seca. My Legacy has stock spec.B Bilsteins, Epic Springs, Hotchkis sways, and Kartboy endlinks. Most importantly it also has Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position tires where my Miata has the cheapest tires America's tire had in the stock daisy size
  14. Nope, this was only my 2nd track day and the previous one was at Thunderhill in my old 3000GT. I can tell you this though, at this point in time my Legacy has more grip (better tires) and is a lot faster (about 150 more WHP and 180 more wheel TQ).
  15. Thinking about buying a set of the DA hub/bearing assemblies for each legacy... I'm pretty sure the ones on the wagon are done for and wouldn't be surprised if the ones on my spec.B aren't far behind.
  16. Yeah pics don't really do it justice, but at least in a Miata it's not really that big of a deal. It is actually fairly easy, it's turn 9 that really screws with you....
