LGT 5eat car year? 05
IPT VB mod already performed? No
Are you willing to pay close to but less than IPT prices (perhaps again) for a proper shift kit modification performed by fellow 5eat performance enthusiast ClimberD himself?
Yes, depending on price and down time of my only vehicle of course.
Subscribing to this thread, awesome work you've done man in dissecting the 5EAT.

That sucks, hope to see this issue resolved for you guys.

Cool thanks for the advice. I was hoping either a 245/35/18 or a 245/40/17 (if I could find some 17 x 8.5's or 9). Just kinda keeping my eye out for deals, I don't mind the SDRs I've got now, just want to mix it up after having them for around 5 years and on two different subies. Would likely keep the SDRs with practically new Conti DWSs for winter use and run something wider/stickier during the warmer months.
edit: I did find some gunmetal 18 x 8 sonic tuning wheels on Nasioc about 4 hrs away. They have 235/40/18 nexen summers on them. But I am undecided right now.
-
What offset are you looking for to run a 245 series tire on a 8/8.5 rim? Presume you're on coilovers and looking for something in the ET+49 or more range so you don't have rub issues.
Not sure exactly, maybe you could give me some advice. I am actually on bilstein/pinks. Don't want anything too aggressive, must be a +40 or higher.
-
Looking for a good deal on a set of 18's, with or without tires. Must be 8" or 8.5" wide. If with tires, a 245 series summer tire is preferred. PM me if you've got a set, thanks.

Have a few random subaru fitment wheels/tires for sale that I will let go on the CHEAP if picked up:
- Two 225/45/17 RE960 AS tires with 18-20K miles on them, perfect for a full sized spare (MAKE AN OFFER)
- Four 15 x 6 OEM wheels from a 99' Forester in great shape. Centercaps/lugnuts included $140 OBO
- 16" donut spare (never used) from 2004 OBS $30
-
15" wheels, couple 17" tires, 16" donut spare + stock legacy parts (and stock 04 OBS parts) :http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/fs-va-stock-parts-05-lgt-sedan-more-152097.html?t=152097&highlight=parts

Where are you guys getting your seats and how much?
got mine used on the forum. $200 plus shipping.
-
Finally got my rear seats a week or so ago! Need to buy some of the OEM hardware for the fold down conversion, but should be doing the swap at some point once it gets warmer out.
Question though, can I re-use my original seats bottoms and just install the hinge, seat back and side pieces? Or do I need to use the 07 seat bottoms as well?
Reason I ask is because the set I bought has some stains on the rear passenger side. It's the same color material as my stock seats (unlimited, black/grey cloth) so that would be great if I could keep my original, unstained seat bottoms.

stage 3 on stock turbo?
-
Just curious, how many miles on that car? Am thinking of a BNR16G within the next year or so, both as a preventative maintenance and a performance upgrade.
-
Yeah the hooks can be bent or removed with hammer. I don't have pics of the latch I'm talking about but so long as they ask you for a vin parts dept can find it out. Will try and scan my old photos for em.
Good to know. That would be great, thanks.
-
There will be 2 hooks to modify for the seats back to fit. The non folding back seats are using those for security. I assume you are getting the latches that the fold down seats hook to/release from? Were these fold downs like the Shrek B with ignition key locks? I never did the lock conversion on the seats but the glove box wasn't that hard. You just have to watch out for the spring that flies out and buries it's self somewhere inside the car/house when taken apart.
The seats did not come with the latches. I'm gonna need to buy those separately. On the fold down mechanism there is a key slot, so I guess it does use the ignition key like the Spec.B seats.

Looks ridiculous

Finally found the 60/40 fold down cloth rear seats I've been looking for! Now to buy $200 or so of OEM parts to do the conversion...
-
07+ also has fold down rear seats, which is a big plus in my book. 07+ HU offers Aux in and Mp3 capability. Those differences plus VF46 (seems to be more reliable than VF40) and catless UP make the 07' the year to get IMO.
Personally I prefer the front end of the 05-07 v.s. the 08+, though I think the stock tail lights on the 08-09' look much better than the 05-07's.
An 07' Spec B would be my dream legacy (realistically speaking).

A little off topic, but my girlfriend is looking to put leather in her '10 Forrester XT. Are the leather kits on Ebay any good? Anyone know of some good Forrester leather seats for sale? (sorry for the slight hijack)
Are you on subaruforester.org? Probably get some better responses from there. Been a long time member there (last vehicle was a 99 forester), helpful and friendly bunch.
Still looking for 07+ 2.5i cloth fold down rear seats!
-
05 was the only year for the "unlimited" GT unless you are looking for the 2.5i and I don't know if they have the black/gray ones.
Yeah was thinking of an 07+ 2.5i. Pretty sure that some of them came with that same black/grey .
Still trying to figure out for sure if Legacy wagon rear seats will fit in the sedan at all. Some people say "no way!" whiles others say it may work "with a lot of customization".
-
Still want some 07+ folding rear seats if anyone has them. Preferably the black/grey cloth seats.

I am trying to do the mesh mod on the bottom of the bumper, but can't figure out how to get the grill off to reach down there... Anyone know how to get the grill off so I don't have to take the bumper off?
Undo all the connections on the top, then grab the bottom of the grill and pull forward and up. At least that's how it works on my 05.
