If you want a mature tone, IMO skip the catback and go stage 2. Much better bang for buck with little added noise. (See my vid a few posts up).
If you do wanna do a catback only for a bit of rumble, no need to worry about a CEL as there are no 02 sensors in the catback. Borla is supposedly one of the quieter systems out there. My buddy has a SPT CBE on his 08' and it sounds awesome IMO.

I just joined the site as my sis recently bought an 05 LGT. I have a
03 wrx and did the "intake silencer removal" mod, wanted to mabye do
it on her legacy. Searched and found it here but the link on the sticky isnt
working any ideas? Anyone get a CEL from removing it? Appreciate any help
Welcome to the forum! Here ya go: http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110580
You will only get a CEL if you forget to plug the MAF sensor back in

HD is stiffer than spec b's bils?
mark
yes, see above.
I guess they are.....wonder what I can get a set of those for....http://www.fredbeansparts.com/servlet/the-987/Bilstein-Subaru-Legacy-GT/Detail

HDs are NOT the same as OEM Spec. B Bilsteins
-
no not much rumble at all. I clicked the thread post you linked and sure enough "on a JDM legacy wagon"
-
its probably a JDM model with stock EL header
-
^ w/ EL header right?

it rode like shit
it rode like shit... meaning what? too bumpy? too harsh?
-
btw i will have a set of low mileage [< 3000 miles] Bilstein HD's fore sale as soon as i clean them up. stay tuned.
Why didn't you like the HD/pinks combo? Too harsh?
-
Geez. Are they even in existence, where they do not involved a drop in panel filter or CA/RAM intake?
-
I'm running STi pinks (on Bilstein HD struts). Here is what the drop looks like:

That looks great. Anymore pics of your car with the HDs/pinks on?

Pink springs seem to be the common choice for a slight drop and better handling.

I think I've pretty much given up trying to find a set of these...
What is a close, reasonable facsimile? ;(
Here's a set of 04' goldies FS: http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f65/wheels-52506/

^ Looks much better. I didn't use the chrome ring on mine either.

Where's Manuel?

Sounds quite a bit louder with the aftermarket mid/y, but it could just be the camera. kevkel, how much louder does it seem to you as opposed to a completely stock catback? I wonder how much a HFC would lower the exhaust level with your set up.
-
Ill get a video tonight of my current set up. HKS catless up x02 catless dp and x02 mid and ypipe with stock mufflers.
Cool, please do. Also, are you running an intake or a BOV ?

SPT sucks air from the front of the engine bay, not the back. I am stage 1 with avo panel filter, you really can only hear more engine/turbo noises when you drive with the windows up and radio off (hasn't happened for me in months). I do have the silencer in, maybe removing that lets you hear more feedback in all driving conditions (windows down, etc.)
