  1. ^^^ No problem, hope everything goes well with your swap. Mike
  2. Very nice & clean, My steel straps are still work , over 16psi & 173k later. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l293/HAMMERDOWNGT/Subaru/th_0821071157.jpg http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/stock-tmic-peace-mind-mod-68994.html?p=1334884#post1334884 Mike
  3. Look at this pic. again, http://www.thrashdriveshaft.com/Imag...ion%202009.JPG Measurement from the rear diff. flange to the center of the carrier bearing bolt ( 36.12" ). Then measure center of the carrier bearing bolt to the end of the tail shaft housing is (24.12") of the 6MT. You want 2" to 3" of the slide yoke inside the tail shaft. 36.12+24.12=60" ,The 60"is from the outside of the rear diff. flange to the outside of the tail shaft housing. The rest of the length of the drive shaft is going into the tail shaft. If your total length is around 63". That means you have 3" of penetration in the tail shaft housing. With out penetration your car goes nowhere & the drive shaft falls to the ground. Mike

Pretty sure this is what I'm going to get as I've been happy with my 3+ for the LGT for about 25,000 miles thus far I'll be talking with my local shop tomorrow to see if they have a 2.5i donor driveshaft for me. I heard that a 4EAT driveshaft will work as well, though I'm not sure from what years. I found one for $50, just need to verify what years work here. I know I'll need to get stubs, circlips and seals as well as fluid and hopefully that will cover nearly everything besides a dccd controller will keep you all informed of my progress as well, probably wont go in until july unless i get too eager groff... you won't need the front axels. yours will work.. if it's a 2004, you pull the stubs out of the 6MT, and put a new set of 05+ axle seals in it. if it's an 06, you can just use your axels straight up. you WILL have to change the rear diff, and again, you will use your axels. to complete this swap, youll need: 6MT tranny flywheel 6mt shift linkage clutch clutch fork / slave cyl. 2005+ 2.5i auto driveshaft 3.90 / 3.545?? rear diff.. (i got mine out of an 04 legacy non-lsd ) i have had this swap in my car for about 10k and 4 months, over 370whp.. i destroyed 1 rear diff playing in the gravel when i hit dry pavement, BOOM.. lol just upgraded to a 35R so we'll see. PS. if you want i can PM you my number, and we can talk in detail about my tirals and tribulations.. mike did it for me.. i'll do it for you WELCOME to the 6MT SWAP CLUB, this list is short Hope that help, Mike
  5. IDK, I had a custom made, repairable drive shaft for mine. I took other peoples word that the other drive shaft will work. Quoted from you, "I think hammer said the shaft needed to be 63-68 but it looks like a total of 62 works on a wagon." I can't find that I ever said 63"-68" would work. But I found this. From Z0rr0 Quote: Originally Posted by HAMMER DOWN http://legacygt.com/forums/skynetim/buttons/viewpost.gif groff, copied from my last post. You can, from what I heard use a drive shaft out of 05 or new legacy A/T. If the A/T driveshaft overall length is between 63.50" & 63.88". It should work. If your drive shaft is around this length, it should work. Hope this helps. Mike i can CONFIRM that this works. 2005 2.5i 4EAT propshaft. works great Just trying to help. Mike
  6. Use this http://www.thrashdriveshaft.com/Imag...ion%202009.JPG Measure from the rear diff. flange to the center of the carrier bearing bolt. Then measure center of the carrier bearing bolt to the end of the tail shaft housing of the 5MT. Then measure the difference in the length between the 5MT & the 6MT. Do the math & you should be able to know before you do your swap witch drive shaft you can use. You want 2" to 3" of the slide yoke inside the tail shaft. Mike
  7. Post # 24 NSFW, just called Driveshaft Specialist 1-866-455-6622. Talked to Jeff. They have the info. on my drive shaft. Front shaft 24.12", rear shaft 36.12". Uses 1310 XL u-joint & 2002 Forrester Wagon A/T carrier bearing with 05 LGT carrier bearing mounting bracket to bolt to the drive shaft tunnel. How to measure: http://www.thrashdriveshaft.com/Image/2pc%20Sheets/M2-3%202%20pc%20New%20Slip%20and%20Rear%20Flange%20Type%20Pinion%202009.JPG 63" min. is total length. You need a few inches of drive shaft yoke in side the tranny for surface contact for strength, back & forth movement & so it wont leak. If I remember right. I have 4"-5" of drive shaft yoke , inside of the tail shaft housing. About 3\4" play before it bottoms out. The Subaru don't need back & forth play because the whole drive line is solid mounted. Mike
  8. Yap, the 5MT clutch slave hose bolt right up the 6MT pressure control valve. See pic. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l293/HAMMERDOWNGT/Subaru/0804072103a.jpg Mike
  9. The only part I disagree with is in RED. Amsoil Ea oil filters, depending on size, are good for 15k to 25k or 1 year. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eao.aspx I run Ea15k13 the 05 WRX & Ea026 & EaBP90 in the 05 GT. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/get-your-oil-filtration-down-2-microns-81741.html Mike
  10. Yes I agree. Short answer, yes. For over the last 5yrs. My 05 GT 168k+ & my G/F's 05 WRX 125k+, with no oil related failures. OCI is between 12K to 15K. Before Subaru put out their Service Bulletin # 02-103-07. I already been running 15k OCI & OA's have came back "Good for Continuous Use". So I saw no need to change my OCI. Has I told Max, If your not going to run Extends Drain Intervals. (IMO at least 7.5k) Them IMO you can use cheaper oil & filter to protect up to Subaru's 3750 OCI. What you do is up to you, at your own risk. If you do Extends Drain Intervals (at least 7.5k) I would do your OA's at your current OCI. Up to you plan on changing you oil & filter. For the 1st oil change. After you AO's come back "Good for Continuous Use" up to whatever OCI you deside under 15K. Then all you have to do is to watch for oil usage. Remember that Amsoil only Recommends extended drain intervals with their oils. If use with their EA oil filters. Mike
  11. IMO Amsoil 0w-30 SSO & Ea oil filters. rolled over 168k. Run it all year round. http://legacygt.com/forums/../images/smilies/eek.gifhttp://legacygt.com/forums/../images/smilies/cool.gif My OCI avg.15k Running Cobb stage1 93 map, max boost is still 16.2psi. Original motor & turbo are running like new. Mike
  12. 05 STi Stock flywheel & clutch. I have almost 100k with no slippage. Mike
  13. Then your choice is to get a R160 with 3:90 gears to use your OEM axles. Or buy 07-09 Spec.B axles. To use the R180 rear diff that's coming with you 6MT.
  14. You need to 1st. find out what O.E. rear diff. you have in you XT. Mike
  15. Front to Rear is control by your shifting rods, Right to Left is controlled by you Rear Tranny mount. Unless your shifting rod are bent. Pics. would help. Mike
  16. Yes the 6MT needs to be drop to do the front LSD. DCCD does not, just remove the tail shaft cover & you can access the center diff. and replace with a DCCD. Mike
  17. Go front LSD 1st. DCCD can be put in at a late date, without dropping the 6MT. Mike
  18. No problem, glad to help any time. Mike
  19. Ya, put it up on my lift. Remove the heat shield between the exhaust & the drive shaft. Unbolt the exhaust at the spring bolt. Support tranny with a jack. Unbolt tanny's cross tie. Let jack down. Take 4' pipe & pray tranny toward PS & wedge a 2"x4"x4" between the side of the tunnel & the tranny. Now you should be able to get to the NSS. After I got mine done. It dawn on me. If you removed the TMIC & the Dog Bone underneath & depending on the size of your hands & arms. You mite not have to pray & block the tranny over. I told you IPITA. Mike
  20. ^^^ no you don't have yo drop the transmission. It's APITA, but it can be done. I did it 2hrs. with mine with the transmission in the car. If you closer. I would have you come over & help you do it. Mike
  21. You need Spec. B shifting rods or have the lengthen them 3/8". Like I did. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l293/HAMMERDOWNGT/Subaru/1215071541.jpghttp://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l293/HAMMERDOWNGT/Subaru/1215071544.jpghttp://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l293/HAMMERDOWNGT/Subaru/1215071546.jpg Mike
  22. Sorry you have to use the 5MT's NSS (neutral safety switch). Get your wrenches out. Your avcs will work fine with 6MT's NSS. The 6MT's does work, BUT it will only let your cruise control SET in NEUTRAL. Which won't do you any good. Mike
