  1. nope, only thing i had to change were the axles and the driveshaft flange on the R180. I swapped it over to the R160 one so the driveshaft holes would line right up.
  2. as of today we have our 3rd (I think) LGT cruising a 6sp swap (only one with an R180 and spec b axles though thanks all for the help!
  3. wiring is all tidied up now, thanks mike. now to move on to cutting and sewing the shift boot and finding an oring to hold it up or something
  4. i havent wrapped it up yet, possibly today after a golf tourny for work the weather has been crappy and demotivates me from working on the car. i've also got a leaky front axle seal, and haven't been able to get the clutch to bleed (not really that hard of a task, but something is wrong here). i should have a new clutch line coming in today and i'm hoping that the one i have is split which is causing air to leak in and fluid to leak out. if thats not the case, i'm not sure whats going on.
  5. riddle me this third connector from the right: http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb173/LGTgroff/DSC_0008-2.jpg top shot http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb173/LGTgroff/DSC_0009-2.jpg bottom shot only one yellow with red stripe, and not in what i perceive to be the pin 18 position the other 2 pix are still uploading to photobucket
  6. anybody got a pic of the dccd tps wire they tapped into? or a location. i was under the impression it was B136 pin 18, but I don't see a wire there, so a lil guidance would be nice also, are the dccd wires black to black and white to green, the schematic wasn't clear and/or i didn't really spend much time looking too!
  7. ya i'm working on it, i'll get to it tomorrow
  8. interesting. i had a front that i found out today wasnt in all the way by the pool of fluid under the tranny anyway, ran into a rain delay part way through the dccd install, i got the switch in, its just the wiring but i ran out of light with this current storm. i'll get there, should be running this weekend if i can get someone to come over at any point and help me bleed the clutch cuz i've been askin my buddy 2 weekends in a row...and thats all that's keeping me from starting the car!
  9. ok, now that i'm back from a business trip, here is where i'm picking up today: i swapped the front of the r180 rear diff to the r160 flange so that the driveshaft holes would line up like below: http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb173/LGTgroff/DSC_0003-2.jpg i've also taken a couple photos of the differences between the spec b axles and the stocker lgt ones for future reference. i should be able to grease them up a lil and slip them in hopefully, that was the trick with the fronts: http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb173/LGTgroff/DSC_0001-1.jpg http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb173/LGTgroff/DSC_0002-1.jpg install driveshaft, wire up the dccd, clean up the shift boot, put in a bunch of fluids and bleed the clutch are all i have left, so hopefully i'll be driving tomorrow
  10. I have Spec B axles, they're being difficult going into the rear diff at this point, so i've moved on and will come back to them too many other things to get done
  11. has more to do with the hubs than the width. the STI axles are set up for the 5x114.5 hubs which are bigger than the LGTs 5x100 hubs.
  12. or just put the 5mt's in before you put the transaxle in which is what i did before i put it in the car tonight. i put both reverse and nss so hopefully thats right
  13. so swap the 5MT NSS into the 6sp, or just wire the 5MT NSS in but leave the 6sp one in the transaxle? Seems like there was a conflicting post, I'm guessing the first option. I'm gonna be throwing the gearbox in tonight and then engine some other time, I'm tired of waiting to put them in together because of some F'd up flywheel issues. ...unless the lady next to me parked too close and i cant get the 6sp out of my storage unit
  14. well doesnt make a difference cuz they sent me the fronts instead of the rears anyway, so I ordered spec b ones that will be here next weds at the latest.
  15. I was thinking tonight, and I don't feel like reading back through the thread more , why won't the 04 STI rear axles work with the stock LGT hubs? different spline count?
  16. actually, i tried it hammer downs way first, but really i should have just done it my way first tonight i pushed the axles back into the tranny all the way, and they popped out of the hubs, i wiggled them free and then popped out of the tranny. everything is out except for the actual tranny itself. i only get a couple hours each day, so its tough getting everything out and putting it all back away in that time too anyway, tranny should be out tomorrow night, and the new one is being delivered wednesday. i'll be grabbing those axles and my old rears and running em down to my shop early thursday morning i guess if i don't take wednesday afternoon off to see how quickly they can whip me up some new ones. things are finally starting to come together, there is a light at the middle of the tunnel
  17. whats the front axle pulling secret? they're getting hung up inside the tranny. i've only done stubs before on a wrx swap, haven't done the stubless like this. help please and thanks.
  18. I may be there and yeah I have a front mount
  19. o, my door is only open when getting change so hopefully no worries. we'll find out soon enough hopefully, only this still up in the air is the axles and i'll figure that out when the parts arrive
  20. i'm going to just get the R180 and sti rear axles, then have auto creek (local shop i've had do some work) check and see if they can separate and create hybrids from an extra set of lgt axles they have laying around. if not, i'll explore the spec b ones or 3.9 r160 route. i'll hold off on the linkage too, i can normally get parts overnight if need be.
  21. i cant just use the shift linkage off the 6sp, dang. i'll need to pick up the spec shift linkage? i'll give a call about that as well. zorro what did you do for the linkage??
  22. ya, i was kinda peeved it wasnt an 06 as that would have been the easiest swap but oh well. and just found out my buddy's dad threw away the 3.9 R&P he was saving for me just in case. so, now i'm not sure what route i'm going to take 100%. are the 04sti rear axles different on the hub side from the lgt ones? i kind of figured i could use them since the bolt pattern is 5x100. am I going to need different diff braces now w/ the r180? i just want to get the final list to the place pulling it of what i need, but i don't want get a bunch of extra stuff that i don't need i'll call my connection about the 07spec b axles, tho i cant imagine thats going to be a cheap option either. just bought my flywheel tonight, ships tomorrow and i'll need to get it resurfaced.
  23. ok, they bought the donor car on friday, 04 STI (was hoping for an 06, but I guess I can't complain too much). I have clutch and fluids in hand thus far DCCD controller is in the mail and I'm picking up my driveshaft tomorrow. what is the final list I'll need for 04: Tranny (not sure if it is the stub or stubless one at this point and probably won't find out until I get it) with shift linkage, knob etc Fork and Slave (will I need the master too?) Flywheel R180 diff (can I use my axles or do I need the 04STI axles?) Mike, do you have pics of the NSS, how are they different and can u explain this anymore, thanks for the help guys-
