  1. Saw a 4th gen SWP with borla? exhaust North of Hartford, Conn. on SB 84. I was in a silver 4th gen with a stromung exhaust and spec b's on my way back from Acadia on Sunday 4/28 around mid afternoon.
  2. I asked just like that; for a ride and not to drive for that reason. I'd rather have someone show me what it can do instead of basing the decision off my learning curve. Thanks for the advice!
  3. This is def a factor...I'm seriously considering an 18g instead. I don't want to rebuild anything too soon
  4. Will do! I would most likely go with a TD05-20g if, in fact, I did choose this turbo Thanks for the input!
  5. I get that it wouldn't help in autox, since they're mostly short courses with minimal opportunity to get any spool. I shouldn't have said that. I'm already stage II with a TMIC, Clutch kit, etc. The only accompanying mods I might consider on stage III are Fuel upgrades (inj and FP) I just keep hearing so many different things where people say this and that. "I love my 20g" or "20g takes to long". I know it has to be up to me, it's just difficult to make a decision without knowing what it feels like to drive with the turbo specifically. Maybe I would benefit more from a relatively small turbo. I'll keep reading I guess.
  6. Gotcha, that makes sense. I know that I'll be experiencing some boost latency. Based on what you know of my profile, what might you suggest?
  7. You may be right, I just don't want to do an upgrade and be like, "I wish I would have gone a little further". I want the boost to be there when I want it. Do I not fit the "profile" because I don't red line or autox often? Thanks for the input guys!
  8. I'm stock except for the clutch/fw, that's mostly what prompted my question. I'm kind of afraid of it failing. Having said that, I'm not a guy who gives my car a red line pull every day, or even every other day. I'm a conservative driver who gives a strong pull every now and again and when I do, it's usually bc I'm logging.
  9. Eh, 50:50, work in the city but travel a lot of highway
  10. I've been reading my tail off about stage III upgrades. I've also read through this great write-up from Fahr_side! I have a TMIC, Comp stg 2 clutch kit, Cobb AP, and a TBE. I see that I need to be careful when it comes to hitting the limits of my stock block and tranny. My question is, how big can I go before it gets risky. The matrix gave me some of this info. I'm pondering a 20G and debating housing. I've heard/read that 400hp starts to get risky before block upgrades are necessary. Is that bph, whp, or just plain hp? I just want to get the most out of it but not be to greedy and destroy my block/tranny?
  11. Yea it seems pretty happy for the time being. Besides, if the turbo goes and I upgrade, then I'll need another tune anyway. That $150 could be well spent on supporting mods/tunes
  12. Did this today and its one of the smoothest maintenance items to date.
  13. Yea I will, this whole thing really concerned me so I'm going to try and keep an eye on it. Plus i learned a ton from you guys and some other sources so i feel a lot more comfortable self-monitoring. Think I should get a tune? Or just run this map?
  14. LOL, I did the same thing earlier on a reply you posted, iNVAR. I had to delete my post when I realized you weren't refering to me. ripemeat will know what this is about.
  15. Good news, fellas! Knock is no more. I'm thinking it could be for a few reasons: 1. I was low on oil and did a change so a full capacity of oil may buffer sounds otherwise interpreted as knock 2. I noticed that the reflash map was still the 93 oct stg II map and so that would explain why I got similar numbers after that initial map change from 93-91 stg II map. On the new map I have a DAM of 1 and 0 Feedback Knock and 0 Fine Knock Correction Woot...thanks for your help guys! 12.8.12 Cobb stage II 91 Oct.csv
  16. Hmm, like I mentioned before, it was a tiny little getty mart with Exxon 93, and I usually buy Sunoco 93 so I guess it's possible. I'll drive easily until next fill-up and post up again. This is so discouraging. Can't say enough how much I appreciate you guys taking time to help!
  17. Any idea on where to start? It has the original turbo, would it pick up on crappy old VF40 inconsistencies?
  18. Here's an updated map after I switched to the cobb 91 stg II map...still looks like it sucks... Looks like I'll be grabbing a tune as an early Christmas gift to myself.12.7.12 91 octane stgII cobb map.csv
  19. Yea, all you guys are a great help, sometimes you get different perspectives but it seems everyone is on the same page...I Love this forum
  20. Yea it's the Cobb stage II. My mods are Perrin TMIC, Invidia UP, Perrin DP, stromung CBE, and a few others that aren't related to the map. This is the second time I've heard to do the Cobb 91 map, so I'll do that, thanks guys!
  21. here's the updated log in CSVDatalog in CSV.csv
  22. I'm trying to take all this in but I'm going to post my recent log for added insights from you fellas with much more experience...12.6.12 Datalog.pdf
  23. Changing these this weekend and wondering if I can really get away with this DIY without removing the fuel lines...gonna give it a whirl!
  24. So I picked up some "Intake Manifold Gaskets" today from the Subaru dealership and they don't look at all like the one's listed here. Granted I have an 05, but mine are o-rings laid in what looks like an aluminum outer gasket. Does this sound right? Or is this a gasket for the TGV? Oh, and they ran me 90 bones that were price-matched to Fred Beans.
