  1. I'm looking for 3 people to be beta testers for the Fitment of the 5th gen Legacy Gt fitment. Price will be 158 (100 off final price) What I need from you guys is pics of the installation I can incorporate into a install manual, and any other feedback is always welcome. I may have one out before the new year, and the remainder in Jan 2012. Just compiling a list of who may be interested. (I'll take the first 3 as beta testers)
  2. Yes - but it will be a while. Efforts are focused on getting 1.05 officially launched.
  3. danny boy - PM on it's way. Scooby2.5, The refurb one is 1.04 - not up gradable to 1.05. I have a few 1.04 units kicking around that I am refurbing and selling on the website when I have time to get them ready. Functionally they are identical to the "new" 1.04 units, however they may have failed original testing, and repairs were made, or are a returned unit and re-tested. Those waiting for 1.05 it will add:
  4. All versions should display voltage and peak boost. Peak boost may not display if you are not pulling vac (if you just have ignition on). voltage can be displayed by enabling it in the configurations menu. Check out the manual: I'm assuming you have version (1.00-1.03) http://www.gtboostgauge.com/VBG1%20-%20Manual%20Rev%201.0.pdf Are you seeing the boost profile in the right display?
  5. It may be necessarily to put a fold in the ribbon cable to allow some horizontal strain relief on the connector assembly. I have had good success making a fold like shown. The idea is to get the ribbon cable to go off to the left and exit the vent out the plastic notch area shown.
  6. No prob, hope to get a pic or two up of the ribbon cable fold needed for installation, that part may be the trickiest but not bad. Just don't want any gauges not turning on b/c of cable install... Other news: Production units are out for quote. Hoping to hear news back soon about delivery times. New overlays for 5th Gen LGT are on their way from the factory. Already have the PCB.
  7. JP has run into a few issues but I believe it's related to hand assembly, a few intermittent issues cropped up like we have seen on previous (v1.03) beta units. Hes getting another shipped out soon. Looking forward to code's results.
  8. A few Beta units are out, haven't heard much feedback yet, it's a busy time of year. I hope the install goes well. When I installed mine I found it a little tricky to fold the ribbon cable correctly to get proper fitment into the vent. This version uses a slightly thicker ribbon cable to accommodate more signal I/O. I don't think it's a problem just need to write up a little blurb in the install manual so people know they can fold it without worry about crushing it. I am trying to get the programming instructions out soon as well. I want the beta testers to run through that process to see if they have any problems programming. I also need to get the updated manual out because a few of the configurations menus have changed. 10+ LGT proto fitment board should be arriving soon! I know there's a few LGT 10+s out there waiting. I do want to do maybe two beta testers on that one for fitment issues / install pics.
  9. Since version 1.04 and previous is not up-gradable...nope. Most of the recent discussion has been about version 1.05, we are doing beta testing now. First unit ships tomorrow and the second is soon to follow. I have about 6 beta testers and look forward to the feedback. Not yet...but I will need a beta tester for placement and fit when this one comes out...we are all set for LGT 4th Gen 1.05 beta testers.
  10. I'm assuming you mean the VBG1? If so All VBG1 units version 1.04 and higher can read up to 48 PSI. Yes I will let the forum know. 1.04 and 1.05 Hardware will be different. So you will not be able to upgrade a 1.04 unit. Starting with version 1.05 upgraded hardware added the abbility to provide: software upgrades *additional cable required* data steaming - can be used to log boost with PC *additional cable required* Boost filtering options ...oh and FIRST 1.05 Beta unit could ship Monday!
  11. Looks like zeitronix Zt-2 Linear Wideband Output transfer function is: AFR= 2 * V + 9.6 while LC-1 is configurable but I have told users to program AFR= 2 * V + 10 (PLX uses the same) Maybe I can add the option in to change transfer function. I will put that on the to do list. I was hoping to have the first beta gauge out by now but the build by hand is taking longer than anticipated.
  12. Just got an order into my parts supplier last night for enough to build 4 beta units. So by the end of the week I will have all the parts in and hopefully over the weekend I can get them assembled. I have enabled the options to filter the boost (high , med, low) The serial output option can spit out data all the time(captures vac) or can be set to run only when boosting. This could work well with a program like Hyper term to log the output and then drag in to excel to graph the results.
  13. This morning I was able to program new firmware using the serial to USB cable mentioned above. YAY - The boot loader is working! Yup - Theres a few minor tweaks but it's mainly minor things. ( I think) For 1.05 release I want to firm up a few things: - Boost filtering option to illiminate transient spikes which latch as peak boost - Some lighting conditions in daylight caused gauge to dim when in auto mode - Serial Data Output options while running
  14. Small update: Beeper working Uart running (screen shot) This new UART (serial) interface is shown connected to a PC with this cable: TTL-232R-3V3-AJ CABLE USB SERIAL 3.3V 3.5MM PLUG This could useful for those running a car computer / car pc if they want to pull boost/vac data from the VBG1. TODO: Verify Boot loader functionality and setup menu configuration for keystroke that initiates Update (boot loader - run)
  15. I'm working on a gauge for the left most center vent. This may be a good option for additional features, the gauge may have a CAN BUS interface which will allow egt and fuel pressure to be pulled directly from the data bus. Too bad they dont have oil pressure on that network (at least to my knowldge they dont) To soon to tell, however the beta units will ship first, and I will wait for feedback on those. There is a good chance those will ship in October. The new hardware is in and the software is getting close. Stay tuned for more updates. Good news for 2010+ LGTs - I did acquire a vent and I'm working on fitment for the VBG1 series gauge.
  16. Got the 1.05 hardware up and running. Looks good so far. I have to test a few more things out: I moved the beeper to the display unit - have to get that working. I haven't yet tested the serial boot loader - a must for software upgrades.
  17. A few weeks ago I said a few weeks... Yikes how time flies any-who, I got the new pcb in last week, populated that board tonight, tomorrow I will drop the software on to it. *fingers crossed* it will take, then I will need to modify a few things in the code. I will try to provide some more frequent updates until 1.05 gets out.
  18. When I get the new version out and going I will setup an upgrade link on the website. Basically if you trade in old hardware, you will be eligible for a discount. All sw upgrades after 1.5 will be done with a cable and a laptop if all goes to plan. I will put you on the list to contact when it's ready. Thanks.
  19. Yes - this has happened to me too. Only a few times as well throughout the summer, seems to always be the top button, is this true for you as well? Top Button? An air deflector probably would work ,but if I can, I'm trying to fix this issues in software because I wont have to add any cost to the unit. I think it's a glitch in the capacitive touch sensor calibration routine. It's few and far between occurrences and clears within 30 secs but I agree, annoying. Version 1.05 hardware protoboard was in and is now back out for a re-spin. some hardware issues. The-re spins will be in next week! Hardware changes include moving the (beeper/buzzer) to behind the gauge so it's more audible, it used to reside in the sending unit. This will free up 1 I/O to the sending unit, also I have expanded cable width from 8 lines to 10. This will allow for the new software upgrade I/0 and a data bus (spi), in addition to the existing analog lines (for boost/aux in). In the future I may offer a CAN sending unit and I want them to be compatible with a standard VBG1 display unit. I may have a few beta units (non-production units) up for sale in a few weeks. Yay!
  20. I don't know the answer to this...yet. However more filtering will be added as an option in Ver 1.05. It is in the works now. I got the proto board in, I have a few things to work out. The major advantage of 1.05 and up will be the ability to upgrade software versions 'in the field'. I am probably a few weeks away from getting the production order arranged. Some beta units could be sold at that time, production run usually takes an additional month or so.
  21. Yes - good point. Chances are some of the other instruments reading boost (ECU, other external boost gauges) are filtering and then sampling peak from the filtered results. Some like to see true transients some would rather not, I think I will make it an option in the next version.
  22. haha - How bad is the burn-in? I have found the screen saver to be working really well on my unit. But then again it is dependent on how you drive and how often you boost. I'm wondering if people with PLX gauges experience the same burn-in affect. VBG1 has to drive the oleds pretty hard to get them readable in the sunlight of the vent location.
  23. Every gauge shipped is pre-tested with a digital manometer to an accuracy of +/- 0.25 PSI (up to 30 PSI) I'm not sure what the accuracys are of the access port or where the senor is. That may matter, the other thing I don't know is how the access port determines ATM pressure. The VBG1 samples ATM pressure at startup everytime. Burn-in on oleds is a pain. In version 1.04 I introduced a screen saver timeout option, are you running that version? do you have that enabled? I have found that to work very well at reducing burn-in. Actually a "reverse colors" options is what I experimented with. Still due to the formatting of the text being close to the black boarders when it was reversed, it looked terrible.
  24. Assuming you have hooked up power correctly, calibration is completed each and every time at power up of the IG2 power and the gauge samples ATM before the engine cranks. The VBG1 is also good at catching transients of boost, I'm not sure what the sampling rate of romraider is but could be a part of the discrepancies. Although 17.4 sound high for stock. At this point in time, yeah, prosport is the only option for oil pressure.
